Sorry for the long-ass comment, I'm bored and opinionated today :)
I prefer a deeper sound profile, without deferring to over-foaming my boards (particularly PE foam), especially since I often appreciate the subtle differences between switches. That said, I've tried every single one of [the linear] switches named in this video and have sharply contrasting opinions lol. Disclaimer: as with all things, how your switches sound is A) highly subjective, B) depends on your actual auditory anatomy, and C) can change drastically depending on the board you put them in, the materials used (plate, etc), the presence or absence of foams and other modifiers, the keycaps mounted, the use of and/or type of deskmat, and many other factors. My #1 recommendation when people ask me what kind of switch they should buy is to pleeeease buy as many 10-packs of switches as you possibly can, and to do it often. Then try them in as many boards as you can, with as many different plates as you can. You'll come to find that there's no "one best switch" - you might prefer a certain switch in one keyboard and absolutely hate that same switch in the next. Arm yourself with experience and knowledge! That said, here's my thoughts on the switches our friend Milktooth has shown us today, as well as a few of my faves down below:
NEPTUNE/VENUS - deep sound, smooth feel, very little wobble, but to me the bottom-out felt a little weird and I ended up not particularly liking them, at least on the two boards I tried. I liked the sound profile well enough that I'm sure I'll come back to them again in the future and try them out in different boards
MILKY YELLOW PRO - great budget switch, medium-low sound profile, decently smooth. Def recommend but really only for the strictest budgets since there's better if your budget opens up a bit. Top 10 for me when you include price into the deciding factor though
SMOOTHIES - amazing switches at an impressively mid-tier price point. They're smooth enough with Gateron's newly upgraded lubing method. The spring is lightweight but super snappy, and they are definitely one of the lower-pitched switches I've tried. Probably a top-10 switch for me, though probably only if I swap the springs
MORANDIS - I cannot say enough about how overhyped these are. They don't feel quite as smooth as you'd expect, have issues with stem wobble, and the top-out is pretty clacky. These are mid-toned at best and I would never consider these a "deep" or "thocky" switch. Tbh you can do better with your money, I wish I could get mine back
GAZZEW LTs - Just ew. Did not like. At all. Pretty clacky and not ultra smooth or anything. Mid-tier. Nothing to write home about, won't buy again
AQUA KINGS - I did like these "okay"-ish, though I didn't really find them to be worth the price. They're decently deep/low-pitched, but not the deepest by far. Their smoothness is seriously odd to experience, but not in a bad way. They definitely feel different than most switches, I just couldn't really tell you how. Maybe a top-10 switch for me?
So, maybe two/three of these actually even come close to my top-10 favorites, but I can name three right off the bat in use in my boards right now which I like better than any of those listed here. Vertex V1s, Keebhut x Aflion Tropical Waters 2, and UHMWPE COWs. In fairness, the cows come unlubed so you have to hand-lube them, which could contribute to their relative superiority in my rankings since most hand-lube jobs are better than factory. Also, the TWv2 are discontinued, though they've hinted they may be working on a v3. As a bonus, I'll say that the Aflion Cloudy & Windy Shadows are some of the best I've tried recently. They have a very loud sound signature that I can best describe as the deepest clack you'll ever hear. Not thocky, but not exactly clacky either. Nice and snappy typing feel, and Aflion's above-average factory lube to top them off! Def some of my new faves (hint: try the heavier Cloudy Shadows in your spacebar :)

    • @lego_minifig
      @lego_minifig 8 дней назад +1

@@lmapa69I just got a set of the oil kings recently. They feel and sound great! So far the smoothest linear I have tried, but my linear sample size is just 4 other switches at the moment. Though I will note they are exhausting for long gaming sessions. I was getting hand cramps after a particularly long gaming session. Getting some ceramic keycaps to for a deeper sound so I am hoping the extra weight will help make them less exhausting.

Great review! I have a few switches that I need to try now. I agree that the Gateron Smoothies are great and I love Vertex V1. I've said this in this comment section before, but Morandis are SO OVERHYPED. I do not get it at all. I guess they are being included because they are a good seller, because they are so wobbly and don't feel or sound that good to me. Makes me wonder if Hipyo is getting paid to shill them. 🤣

Agreed morandi are not it. Got them in and i wish i never bought these. The wobble is insane and nobody really talks about it. And everyone cherishes these switches. Horrible for gaming btw. Bought the venus hopefully my endgame switch and ill just restock 3x on the venus if these are it

      Heavy Tactile gang.
Wuque Studio WS Heavy Tactiles are what I'm currently running right now, and while they're a big bump up in actuation force from my Boba U4T's, it's such a nice typing experience.

I really like the JWICK JWK Taro Puree tactile switches. They are a 67g tactiles and currently the deepest sounding switch I own out of the 12 I have tried so far. Currently have them on my main typing board. They are also less exhausting in long gaming sessions than the oil kings.

One underrated aspect of the Gazzew switches is there springs they come with really great stock springs I entered the hobby with U4's and I did not know what everyone was talking about when they talked about spring crunch and a spring ping until much later because my first few switches are all Gazzew Springs

    Hello Milktooth!
Been wandering on your channel for about a week, just to widen my switches references and POV.
Too bad I can't do purchases on your site from where I live, but your videos made me increase the urgency to try several switches.
Great job with the vids, the comparisons, and the detailed infos.
Also, i saw several times that some comments have a different opinion from your vids that probably valid too (and another lot with agreed opinion), so Is it possible to create a vid topic out of it that you already tried also?
I mean, this is just some idea tho.
    Thank you anyway!

Keep in mind that akko's v3 and newer switches tend to be worse compared to their older "CS" lineup.
No one knows why akko greatly downgraded the sound of their switches especially the so called "factory-lubed".
Akko's aren't exactly bad, it's just you need to lube them yourself to make it sound good but even then, Akko is probably the worst option when choosing a budget switch.
