How does this not have more views?! This video is so informative and professional! As a bassist I have a literal crate full of guitar wall hangers and never once looked at them and thought "Camera gear". Thank you for the tip! I'm going to implement that in my studio IMMEDIATELY!
Appreciate that, Cory. Bassist guitarist? That's super-dope. Good luck with the studio upgrades!
me a bassist too.......and all my stuff is stored but so much more to learn...its good to be orgnized
NEEDED this! Especially for the tripods! Surprising that I couldn't even find a minimalistic suggestion on a Pinterest! All show peg boards or shelving that still makes it look cluttered. Thank you for the wonderful and informative video! 😃
You're welcome @Megan! So glad you found it helpful. 🙌
EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thank you so much for the inspiration and for making this video with ALL the value. The white out pen BLEW MY MIND. Officially subscribed.
You are so welcome, @Andrea Lynn! I'm so glad you connected with it. Thank you so much for the sub. 🙂. 🙌
Fantastic tips!
Thank you, Sharon! I'm glad you found them helpful. 🙂
Was hoping there would be a sneaky cat shot in there somewhere, but will have to make do with a sneaky cat sound. I think your course will be great - looking forward to it.
Thank you @Barrie Seppings! 🙌
Watched the first 15” of this video, already subscribed 👌👌👌

Good job! Good stuff takes time… that's the way things work. ⏳🤔👍
Thanks! I love that you noticed that poster and appreciate the sentiment.
FYI: Non-latex rubber bands don't rot like regular rubber bands. They also come in fun colors. Check your local office supply store. Thank you for the video.
Whaaat? I think you just changed my life. 🤯
this is a great video! Good stuff!
Thank you, @Coach Plugged In! 🙂

Mary, I feel lucky I found this. You addressed many of the problems areas in video gear organization that I have have come across. Thanks for mixing useful information, a professional speaking presentation and a memorable style in your edits!
Thanks so much, awesome video! I've been buying a lot of gear lately as my media videography business has grown and I just have piles of stuff in boxes surrounding my desk. Thanks for the tips.

Love this!
Thank you, Gaurav! Happy new year to you and Lyndall. 🎉
Extremely helpful! And the filming and editing was amazing!!
Thank you, @Keyanna Draper! So glad you enjoyed it. 🙌
If you work with a lot of people that don’t perfectly know your gear you need to colour code everything. Every bag or roller gets it own colour. Everything that goes into that bag gets the same colour tape stuck on it as the bag. Easy and really nice. I have the green roller. An orange backpack and a yellow roller. Perfect for working with a lot of people
Oh, that's brilliant, Julian. Love this tip.
Clever ideas; great presentation!
Thanks so much, Sal!
Great ideas! Thank you
You're welcome! Glad you liked 'em.
I came here from Jill Bearup's video where she mentions you! I'm going to send a link to my daughter, who is a professional photographer. These tips seem very useful!
Thank you! I'm so glad you found these tips helpful and appreciate you sharing with your daughter.
Also, thanks for letting me know that you came from Jill Bearup's channel. Do you know which video she mentions me in? I'd love to see it!
@@marybetsy It was a community post, I showed everyone a picture of my tripods being very organised. Now wondering if I could get some more to hang swords 😁
This video was responsible for me making, like, £30 worth of Amazon purchases. But my office looks ✨beautiful✨
Wow, I can't you thank you enough! Organized tripods are a sight of beauty for sure. ✨ Now sword organization - that's a little out of my realm. 😁
I'm so glad you found the vid helpful, congrats on the office makeover, and thank you again for sharing!
Good stuff, enjoy the amazon commissions. I bought like 5 of the things you mentioned lol
This was fantastic, so many great ideas especially the white out pen! Thank you!!
Thanks so much, Mariah! Happy you found it helpful. 😊
This video is what I needed. Subbed ❤
Glad it was helpful and appreciate the sub!
Awesome tips! A great alternative to a white out pen is a silver sharpie! Its my go-to labeler. In fact, I use small strips of black gaff and a silver sharpie for most of my labelling. (although, gaff is kinda expensive, so your office depot labels are probably more cost effective)
Hi,
Just found your channel and this video on organising gear, which is exactly what I'm doing right now. Nice tips, I especially like the guitar holder idea, cheap and soo helpful!
Most of your topics I found out by myself the hard way, and I found a way to deal with. I hope you don't mind some additional thoughts ...
I wouldn't use this white correction pen, because the writing is a little crumbly and not too durable. I'm using so called Paint Marker, they are like Sharpies, but with real pigment/paint (sorry, English isn't my first language). I think you can buy them in craft stores, people use them for writing on stones or glass etc. Very durable, many colours for additional organising, and several widths (is this a word?). In Germany we use the famous Edding 750 for this. By the way: best tip ever, to use a pen like this to write on your battery's and chargers directly!
I also used the pretty white IKEA boxes you showed, but then I switched to the SAMLA series. They are transparent (great for finding your stuff from far), have several stackable sizes, the .arterial is a little more flexible. You should give them a try, they are not as pretty as yours, but very practical and also cheaper. I hope they are available in the US, too.
Last point: it looks as if you are treating your cables a little to harsh ... Perhaps don't make these narrow, tight rolls at all. On the other hand, perhaps it's just for the video ... ;-)
Again, great video, which really shines a light on a so often overlooked topic!
Thanks for the feedback. Happy you found some of the tips helpful.
The white-out pen can crumble with friction for sure, so it's cool to know about the Paint Marker. I'll have to try that! And I bet the SAMLA boxes are convenient since they're transparent, but since I keep a lot of boxes out in view, I like to have the mess hidden inside an opaque box! ;)
Also, we did definitely abuse those cables (in the ball). They aren't our main ones, but obsolete ones we used just for filming, thank goodness.
I saw you mentioned Germany. Wohnen Sie in Deutschland?
Super helpful! Made me sub 😊
Wow! So glad to hear it and really appreciate the sub. 🙏
LOVE YOU FOR THIS! LOL
If you archive things onto drives create a spreadsheet on a google doc so you know where everything is as and when you need to go back.
Very true! I have all my gear in a spreadsheet that I can sort before shoots. Also nice for insurance inventory.
@@marybetsy I recommend Asset Tiger takes serial numbers and if you do rentals you can keep track where they are!
Cool tips!
Thank you!
Love the charging station! Do you use peg boards?
Thanks! I think peg boards look so cool, but I don't use 'em because I don't want stuff gathering dust, so I box e'rything up instead.
Oh my god thank you!!! "how does this stuff just disappear?" 😂
Haha, you're welcome! Glad you understand the struggle.
awesome
Mary...what are your tips to shoot me showcasing my guitar pedals.....do i get a chest strap??? i will be using my smartphone for most of the footage?
Thanx in advance.
Billy.
Jill Bearup Says Hi
I was really hoping this would help me figure out what to do with my bulky soft box light. I can't find the storage bag it came with and was hoping there might be an easier, more accessible way of storing but i can't find much help anywhere on storage ideas :( Help anyone?
