You should have also mentioned that the Texas Hill Country is a major winemaking area in Texas. No, you should not mix alcohol and motorcycles, but almost all wineries can ship to your home.🎉

I really have enjoyed my four or five trips to the Twisted Sisters. I lead groups of first time riders the last two times I went. Two biggest points I made with those riders were: Ride your own ride. Don't let anything anyone else is doing push you beyond your riding ability. Watch your spacing. Give plenty of space to the bike in front of you. This will give you better reaction time if that person has to take some kind of evasive action. Finally, relax and enjoy the ride.
Being in the Dallas metroplex, there is actually alot of great riding within a day of here almost no matter which direction you ride: TX Hill Country, Talamina Scenic Byway, Eurika Springs and the Pig Trail, and the Red River basin.
    Thanks for sharing.

I currently have property off 337 near Camp Wood, soon to be on the market for retirement plan changes. Beautiful country, some of the best in Texas. Riding the sisters on a motorcycle is on the list now that my skills have improved. Also, don't discount the ride from Rocksprings to CampWood on 55, very nice views on a very technical road.

In 2019 we travelled back to the USA to visit some of our CMA friends in Saginaw TX for a few weeks. We were graciously loaned the use of a Goldwing and 6 of us went down to ride the 3 Twisted Sisters, staying at BCCR Guesthouse in Centre Point. We thoroughly enjoyed riding the area an of course picked up a Souvenir T shirt at the Bent Rim Grill. A great memory

Just did my first twisted sisters trip based on your video. Videos do this ride and experience no justice! The views alone are enough to make you low side even heard stories as such. Absolutely stunning and treacherous at the same time. I think it’s a route that must be done several times in multiple directions just to capture everything. Safe riding out there guys

I also ride out of Fort Worth, mainly south because the scenery gets good really quick in that direction. I want to mention that once you're down around Leakey, the night sky is amazing because of the absence of lights. This weekend would be a great time to go, it's supposed to be in the 80's Saturday and Sunday. Now I have to decide what to ride, the R1100RS, the K1200RS, or the Electra Glide, tough choices.

I was riding these roads 20 years ago on my Yamaha R1, and I never knew they had a name until a year or two ago. Haven't had the chance to ride it on my new Springfield yet, but I plan on it. Also, if you're in the Austin area, there are a ton of out of the way roads to get there without ever having to hit a main road. My last major crash was on the R1 between Comfort and Kerrville at ~160mph. Thankfully I lived through the sport bike phase long enough to smarten up and get a cruiser :)
    Oh, and it's "Lake-y".

I enjoyed your video of the three sisters. My wife and I rode from DFW to Bandera recently to see the eclipse 10/14 and couldn't resist staying an extra day to ride what is arguably the best day ride in Texas. Fortunately the weather cooperated by giving us the first cold front of the year that weekend and it was a clear, cool, beautiful day. Also, for what it's worth, and this information along with $5 will get you a cup of coffee somewhere, Leakey is pronounced "Lakey" not "Leeky".

Thanks for the ride. It's been about 21 yrs since I rode the Sisters, been living in AZ since then. Wife and I with some friends rode the Million Dollar Hwy several years ago and loved it. There are three routes in AZ that I think are worthy of mention. The first is "The Devil's Hwy" used to be labeled US 666 but now labeled US 191. The next is Hwy 89A between Prescott and Jerome. The third is along the steep, winding stretch of U.S. Route 60 between Globe and Show Low. All three are some pretty mountainous curvy routes with awesome vistas. I have done vides from the bike of all three and are reflected on my RUclips site. If in AZ, give them a ride. By the way, riding those older truss bridges in Central TX at nigh are awesome.

Some of the best roads that are not particularly well-known are in Northwest Arkansas, especially around the Fayetteville, area and just west of Little Rock. Highway 23 is known as the "Pig Trail" and gets lots of riders during the Bikes, Blues & BBQ Rally but can best be enjoyed in late spring or early fall during the week. My all time favorite road though has got to be state highway 49 in California from Mariposa to Coulterville, CA. Great views and pretty tight twisty turns all along the way. As always Kevin, thank you for the content brother! Stay safe. 🤜

Living in Texas the twisted sisters is about the best riding we can get, there's occasional fun back roads and other areas but nothing like what some other states have to offer. I stay and start in Leakey myself for the convenience and the Frio Pecan Farms has some cabins/houses you can rent for big groups that make it even better.

@@ericalger5003 It varies quite a bit depending on the season and how long it's been since the last road maintenance has been performed. I was down there in late October, after 10 days in SW Utah. I stayed in Fredricksburg. Unfortunately for me the weather didn't cooperate (despite the weather forcasters saying it would be perfect for riding) so I only got 300 miles of riding in that week. I don't ride in the rain anymore, being retired offers some benefits like flexibility when you ride. Every day is Saturday so you can wait out the weather. Besides the Sisters there are so many good roads in Hill country. Butler Maps offers a great summary of the rides in that region. I'll be back to ride there again.

let me share a story about the million dollar highway that i rode this summer. Wife and I left Durango, CO on a sunny and 80 degree morning. stopped in Silverton. had a bite to eat. sky started getting dark, a little thunder in the distance.. we had a hotel in Ouray. I thought.... its only 30 miles, pretty good bet we'll make it before any weather hits. I was wrong. Bad wrong! we hit a monsterouse thunderstorm in between. rain coming off the mountain side in rivers, rocks and stones coming off the mountain into the road, temops dropped to about 48 degrees. We had no choice but to continue. there are NO pull offs. we made it to Ouray. The wife still has nightmares of that road. Me.. i want to do it again in better weather!!! AND... the twisted sisters was a great ride too.. we rode that a couple times when i lived in Waxahachie TX. always stayed near Austin and made sure we hit the Oasis on Lake travis for the most beautiful sunsets in Texas.

I don't really ride for fun, I am always on a bicycle or motorcycle to get to work, or to church, or the library, or the grocery store, or some other errand. Not to say that it doesn't make commuting work fun, as opposed to sitting in a car or riding the bus. But I've always wanted to ride out to the Three Sisters, which is probably 4 hours from Houston to Leakey or Medina. At that point, I would be too tired to ride the Three Sisters which is around 100 miles. But, in videos that I see, there is very little traffic on the Sisters so I can ride at my own pace.

I went there, about 20 years ago, and there was all kinds of stuff, including leather jackets. Now, they only have minimal items, which is mostly fake leather bags. That's pronounced "LAKEY", people that live there hate it when it's pronounced wrong.

The hill country around Austin is quite beautiful. The Twisted Sisters ride is boring to me. Arkansas has much more fun and beautiful roads to ride than Texas does.
