One camera I forgot to mention that is worth looking into is the Panasonic S5. It's like a newer, full-frame version of the GH5 but also full-frame and costs around $2k. I just ordered one so a review video coming soon.
Finally! Someone recommending the Panasonic S5! It's actually on sale at B&H at $1900. Comes with a 20-60mm kit lens and a 85mm (1.8)lens!!
@@derickbarikder9461 yeah that's exactly what I ordered. I'm sure the lenses are not the best, but it still felt like a steal
@@Churchfront their single focal length lenses are premium lenses. 24mm 1.8, 35mm 1.8, 50mm 1.8, and 85mm 1.8 are all high end lenses, just happen to be affordable! They were actually designed with video in mind which is why they are all the same weight an length so that changing them out on a gimbal is a breeze. The 20-60 though? no ha ;)
Cody just replaced his personal EOS R with an S5. Where the BMD cameras have a leg up is essentially zero output lag through HDMI, where Sony and Pany hybrid cameras have some output latency. Fine for live stream, but not great for IMAG.
you forgot speak about premium segment at all, because there is no one mention about real broadcast system cameras, but in video claim that will be premium. SAD!
Best Advice given in this video - EBAY!!!! No really, 99% of everything I use in my RUclips videos were purchased on eBay (Mac computers as well) - I've saved tens of thousands of dollars (be sure the eBay seller has a 100% seller rating)...
Not sure churches spending can go that route without proper invoices
@@frankluo230 you definitely can. All you need is a receipt, which you get through PayPal. Our church has PayPal. It’s just taxes have to be paid and can’t use a tax free doc. So yeah. Also people are under the idea that it has to be new. 🤷🏽♂️
what camera do you use for church
Just wanted to leave a resounding review behind the BGH1. We started with just one to try out with our streaming platform and at the very least would have it as an upgrade to our creative pieces. We ran into some scaling issues now that we were trying to run our projects at 4k from our older cameras, so really weren’t able to let the BGH1 really shine to its fullest yet.
Come the new year, head pastor and technical committees were so impressed with the very clear quality difference we were getting in our creative pieces over before that they prioritized further purchase of 3 more. Church tech is usually one of those areas that only gets feedback from the congregation if something goes wrong, but after our first weekend we had so many emails saying they couldn’t believe how good things were suddenly looking. So not only is the congregation happy, but we as a tech staff are actually having real fun with the amount of flexibility they have provided us. I’ve been doing church media for 20 years and this is probably the most impactful upgrade the congregation has noticed except for maybe the addition of streaming itself. You won’t be disappointed in this camera or probably any of the LUMIX line.
We’ve been using the Sony A7siii cameras for our live broadcast and they’ve been great. They handle low light situations extremely well. They have a pretty good battery life as well. Our services are usually 1 hour 30 mins to 1 hour 45 mins long and the camera only consumes about 70% of its battery.
An extra tip since I also use an a7iii for our worship. Once you set your exposure and everything dim the display to the lowest settings to help squeeze out more battery life.
What lenses do you guys use with that camera for live broadcasting?
@@TyroneLT we use Sony G Master or G lenses. A couple of 70-200 f2.8, a 24-70 f2.8 and a 200-600 f5.6-6.3 lens.
Thank you. Were are geting into streaming at phil cambil and needed the help thanks
It's a bit odd to lean so hard into MFT when there are barely ANY options with servo zoom and focus... Hope that changes soon but until then they really are only good for static shots and not manned positions.
Just don't buy the BM studio cams and think you are going to use their cool zoom/focus demands. MFT servo zooms are slim pickens. Hard to beat for the price though!
zoom/focus demands in combination with BMD Ursa Broadcast G2 and B4 lenses is almost perfect, but price/performance is perfect for BMD zoom/ focus demands
we went with Cannon RP bodies. Full 35 sensor was the most important spec for us. At 1500 per body they are in the market with most of what was presented here.
Anybody use the Sony A6400? Would like to see church livestream footage with it.
Thank you for the video brother...I clicked so quickly since I was hoping to see the Panasonic S5 listed....Waiting for your review to buy it for my church...Blessings from Cayman Islands my brother...
Thank you! Great info as always, Jake! Just have a hard time using "Black Magic" products in a worship service...going with an alternative for conscience sake.
What lens is recommended for the blackmagic lineup?
I’ll recommend the BM broadcast G2 it has a dual iso and you can used ef lens or ENG lens and it’s only $4500 compare to the Red Komodo the red Red Komodo does have a slight bigger sensor but for churches I recommend the ergonomics of the ursa broadcast g2
Do I need to buy lenses to zoom in and out for the black magic pro?
How do you pair the BMPCC4K w/ the BM Studio for livestream? Do you adjust settings? Or do you have a LUT you recommend? Thanks!
Looking for a good lens on a black magic studio camera. Church is about 40ft long, it’ll be a stable camera, won’t be moved around as much. Good enough to have a good zoomed in shot and zoomed out shot, please and thank you!
Please review DJI Ronin 4D 4-Axis Cinema Camera 6K and how to use for sermon tik toks.
Interesting I’d like to hear your thoughts on the canon camcorders like the canon XA55 does 4k built in ND filters digital zoom, xlr input, SDI and hdmi out 1” sensor etc!
Jake, I always enjoy your take. Thanks for giving me an update on the latest cameras! Michael
When you really need PTZ cameras, maybe also take a look at BirdDog. Their 4k PTZ cameras come with the same 1" sensor size as the Canon but at half the cost
pricy but good PTZ you can make from BMD broadcast G2 using fiber adapter set
@@toms1346 How?
You should also check out the Zcam E2 series for affordable cinema camera options.
❤❤❤ Awesome stuff Jake, Thank you!!!
I’m a bit confused after watching this video. I watched one from you a few months ago heaping praise on Optics ptz and now not so much. Trying to decide for my small church upgrading their stream.
Super interested in trying out those Black Magic Studio cameras. They look like the perfect live stream cameras. Might have to get our hands on a couple 🤔
Great video, can you make a similar video but with types of Lenses?
Do you have recommendations for luts for the BMPC4K ?
I have a Panasonic HC-VXF1 that I use to livestream at church. Really easy to use, good stabilizer, great zoom, but a bit boring image quality. Anything you'd recommend that's not that expensive? We have considered some PTZ but those get expensive fast if you want better image quality. We're a small church (150 members) in Sweden.
Could get boring but Nikon 7500 streams pretty well for us and is on the low budget end
Jake, we just upgraded our cameras to 1 Pocket Cinema and 2 Studio Plus.
Do you have any recommendations on training videos for these or maybe you have/willing to share your setup? Blessings!!!!!
Did you find a video yet?
Thanks for all the tips Jake! I always learn something new from your resources. I have been using the Sony A6400 for a little over a year now for our Sunday livestreams, but we're noticing HDMI output connection issues. (Maybe because of the wear and tear on one side of the camera) I would warn folks from my mistake to be gentle when connecting the HDMI cable. But other than that, no other issues from the Sony.
I know this is an old comment but what lens do you use for this camera? Been looking at the A6400 as well but want to know what else we'll need so we can properly budget the whole kit
For everyone else who does not want to fool around with lenses, who need a lense with a wide zoom range 20x, 30x parfocal zoom, who need consistent and smooth push pulls and pans in dynamic live environments or multi venues that are not fixed with smooth and consistent zoom and focus demands/controls, definitely check out 1 inch or greater video camcorders. Sony, Canon, Panasonic and JVC fixed camcorders have great performance even in low light.
My church has Sony NX100's that work just fine. The Sony Z150 is excellent in low light and used by many professionals. Panasonic CX350 is very nice, JVC HC500U is nice. If you have the money the best camcorder right now is the Canon XF605 excellent low light, image and features.
These camcorders are much easier to tripod in a manned multicam setup with focus and zoom controls than any DSLR.
Live video production does not benefit from shallow depth of field in fact it makes it harder to focus. In my experience a clean shot is a shot where all is in focus and the focal plane is not shallow or short. The larger the sensor size the shallower depth of field is and while that looks fine for movies it is unnatural for live video production.
I was seriously considering the BMD studio 4K pro for a new multicam conference setup I'm working on and thankfully I watched Doug Johnson Productions video on MFT. All he does is live video multi cam production. Look up the video. Not recommended sadly as the only powered lenses are very low quality. Maybe fine for fixed locked down setups but otherwise a Sony Z150 or Canon XF605 is the way to go.
Sadly the next jump up to actual production cameras the costs quadruple so out of the budget of most churches.
You really should mention the broadcast standard 2/3" format. Those are cameras that are specifically designed for the type of production that happens in churches. B4 broadcast glass is the most versatile lenses money can buy.
I am curious about the HDMI out latency of the a6000 series. Does anyone know? Especially about a6000 or a6400
I have Sony a6300 which my church is using for video. They purchased a
Kimaru AC-PW20 power supply. However it is overheating. Do you have any suggestions. Is there better power for that camera?
I'm in the UK and we love our Sony A6400 with Sony E 55-210mm or E 18-135mm lenses, just work and always gives a great image
Do you have a church video link I could view to see as a point of reference for making a decision on the a6400
Please, do you have an link from your church?
Jake, have you seen the middlethings APC-R that turns the Bmpcc4k into a PTZ with the use of a Ronin Rs2? Seems promising!
I think what you're doing is great. I watched your 'Selling Puts' tutorial and out of all the many I viewed previously yours was the easiest to understand. Making it make complete sense. Also the work you're doing with churches is great. Keep up the great work and know whatever negative things that try to get in your way as a result of your work, you are doing the best work for the community.
Bescor makes a pan tilt head if you want ptz but with better camera. Couple that with a lanc remote and you have a ptz system.
FYI the Sony FX series cameras are all about a year backordered. It took us about a month to get our Komodo.
who uses the a6000 series for their live streaming ? I want to know what’s a good affordable zoom lens that I can use at my church for the a6400.
A few more budget options:
Lumix G7/G85/GX85 14-42mm and 45-150mm Lenses - $1000 (Amazon or check Offerup usually ~$500) - all of these cameras work great.
Lumix GH4 12-35 Lens F2.8- $1000 - $1500. (Best Buy/Amazon/Offerup)
Canon m50 with stock zoom lens 55 - 200 - $800 - $1200 (Amazon/Offerup/Ebay)
Avipas PTZ camera 10x Zoom 1080 - $620.00 (Amazon) You can add the joystick to this for $280.00
If your lighting is really good all of these cameras will work for a solid 1080 broadcast.
Canon M50 doesn't have a clean HDMI output
@@W93h3753mwesley It absolutely does. I have three churches using it now.
@@WhtLabelConsulting no auto focus? Or do you have to use eos software with streaming software to mitigate it?
@@W93h3753mwesley The eos software has to be used...but its probably one of the better pictures you can get with a stock lens for under $700
Is this for live streaming. I would like to know good links for them as I am in uk now
Hi. I'm David from Baptish Church in Bielsko-Biala (POLAND). Is it possible to talk with You live about audio quality in stream? For example using whatapps?
Hey, we do a lot of outdoor live events like weddings and funeral services. We use Sony HXR-NX100 Full HD for 3 reasons. 1) A fully charged battery can last over six hours without plugging into power, sometimes funeral events can go up to 8 hours.
2) Full HDMI out
3) SDI out which can run for long distance. Also I don't have to worry about camera blacking out. I have done 8 hours non stop and had no issues with the camera.
We wanted to purchase some GH5 because of portability and Full HDMI output.
Question: how long can a battery last
2) can a gh5 run for over 5 hours without blacking out.
Thanks for your advise
How do you live stream outdoor events? im looking for a method that doesn't depend on wifi but is affordable
@@demarcuslacytv7086 In Uganda we basically have 2 mobile networks, so those are 2 simcard routers. Then we plug them into a cellular bonding device which we connect on a streaming PC by Ethernet.
But sometimes when the network is really bad since most funerals are in remote areas, we reduce the video bit to 1500kb
Can't go wrong with Churchfront recommendations! Awesome content!
some times can if you just watch only video, like this, because in this video are only entry and mid level cameras from shooting, nothing about premium and real broadcast needs 😉
Hi! Is it viable to place one of the A6000 series for daily streams, leaving it online non stop, without having to manually touch it everyday? I'm hoping to use one but the camera stand is somewhat high, only reachable with some stairs so I need one that can be kept turned on and operational at all times
Went over to checkout your church's page and how it was streamed using those cameras. What lenses are you guys using for the bmpcc? Thanks!
Great video! Churchfront you rock!
For a church, with constant lighting and stationary cameras, why wouldn't a quality camcorder be a good choice? No chance of overheating, good autofocus etc? Some of the interchangeable crop sensor camcorders really do a nice job ... just curious, I'm not advising anyone on this issue.
I personally prefer camcorders over DLSR for video but there are so many different use cases and setup's.
Thanks God bless you..
Thank you for your willingness to share this! You've been a blessing! May I ask, what is your approach to managing cable and stands? Particularly cable that connects to the switcher when using mirrorless cameras? Do you mount your mirrorless cameras to the wall for static shots? Thanks in advance!
Hey y’all ever heard of Sling Studio? Using cameras from your cell phone with the Sling Studio programming app? The cameras on these new phones gives these cameras you mentioned a run for their money. May I add that this system is also budget friendly.
Also, this channel is the best at what it does 💯💯💯💯
would you recommend any camcorder ? I'm currently using 2 sony PXW-X70 and one PXW-Z90
Thanks for this! Which lenses do you recommend for the black magic cameras? We're about 30 feet away from the on-stage talent so zoom would be nice, and our budget is under 1,500
I was curious about the same thing did you ever figure it out
Sony ZV-E10 is my favorite cam for multiple angles.
Do you have any church example video/services of the Sony A6400 with the lens listed in the spreadsheet you provide. I would love to have a point of reference if possible.
Please do a 2023 version or a 2024 version
Do you know what lenses I could use for the black magic design studio 4k?
Hello Blessings
We just purchase the black magic studio pro 4K
But need some guidance on what lens to get
This camera will be on the back of the church for taking the altar we are a smaller Church I believe it’s about 50-70ft I will appreciate it your response
I need a realistic natural LUT for my black magic cinema camera 4K which i use as follow-camera for the pastor in the sermon.
Which lut would you suggest?
Hey Jake, random question: what brand are those light bars you use behind the podcast table? Thanks!
I use 3 Mevo Camrea at my Church they work great with my IPAd
Why the A6000 series over the Sony ZV-E10? Same sensor, and both have bad rolling shutter.
This is great thank you so much! what about church lighting? they have so many options and I have no idea what to choose!
Sir, most of the churches that i have seen is a video camera or camcorders, but you are only talking about DSLR cameras, is this camera better than a video camera? whats your opinion ??
Hey. Thanks for the vid. We got a gh5m2 and it’s working flawless. But I have one concern with black magic cameras. Then name. What do you think about the name of it?
Jesus is the name above all names
You did not consider DJI RS 2 with Raven Eye as another option for PTZ. They even have active tracking.
Help. I do not know what camera for sure to buy to work with the ATEM mini pro. Trying to stay around $1200-1300 ish. For our church
Sony E 55-210mm F4.5-6.3 will this camera lens work for black magic? I tried to order soy a6400 but now on back order. I need a camera ASAP.
Just a comment about a reason to use PTZ cameras. I am aware that they are maybe not the best quality but.....we just don't have the volunteers for our tech as we are a smaller church. The PTZ cameras enable different shots to be saved on presets so one operator can trigger presets and switch between various different views. With 2-3 cameras we can switch between multiple different wide and close up shots. We also have a follow cam PTZ that tracks the speaker on the platform. All this is operated by one person at the switcher and enables us to create something hopefully more engaging.
Hey brother. I would like the Blackmagic camera but I definitely need the autofocus! What camera on the $2,000-$4,000 range should I get? Could the Eos R work for church live-streaming?
Great sir thanks
Thank you for videos, clearly explained! One thing I wonder - as a beginner - is that why ordinary digital video cameras are not at all recommended? I mean cameras like Canon LEGRIA HF G50 for example. Does anybody use cameras like these when streaming? Is this a sensor size thing or?
We use HF G25 and its still a very awesome tight budget camcorder.
Hi there, thoughts on Canon m6 or m50 on the budget side? Versus the sony?
It is somewhat unfortunate, that there are only a few VISCA-IP-controllable PTZ camera mounts out there. Actually close to none. there are motor heads that can hold DSLR or box-style cameras, but most of them do not support VISCA. And all of them are pretty expensive. The thing is, live-streaming usually comes on top for my clients. I'm not into the church thing. So clients would have to pay me camera operators, and they simply don't. Sometimes I operate 3 PTZs and the video switching in parallel, and this only works out when you can zoom remotely, but also store camera PTZ positions to recall quickly. The image out of most PTZ sucks badly. I wish I could combine my Z Cam E2Cs with a PTZ something. Compared to up-to-date film making options, the E2C is rather weak, but it outpeforms most affordable PTZs right away. Plus it is remote-controllable via browser, and also via an HTTP query protocol for automation.
Is it true that you can burn out the sensor when using a camera? I have a Canon m50 and I didn't want to burn it out.
I loved the video review of cameras! I learned a lot and was confused before? What about Nikon for hand-held, I always liked how they felt in the hand more than Canon. Also today, Newtek released a PTZ camera with NDI in it. It looks amazing but; I am not familiar with PTZ stats!
At our church, we have decent cameras on PAN/TILT mounts.
I am looking to upgrade our church camera to a black magic 4k camera but I am not sure which lens to buy any options?
Well I’d like to buy a Sony A6600 but sadly the production is paused since December 🤬
Thanks for the video and tutorial.
I would like to know if the camera comes with the lens or do I have to buy separately,
But also if there's a link to a website to buy it.... Thanks
Why were the URSA Broadcast series cameras not mentioned?
When live streaming worship services, what is the typical distance from the camera to the subject? What lens is typically used (55mm or greater)?
there is no typical distance, you need to adjust it by your place, one of best way to get idea what you will get out from camera and lenses is use app Artemis Pro
Quick question. The BM pocket cinema camera can record 4k 60p... But on the specs page it says Hdmi output 1080p 60k... Does that mean that if I use the hdmi I only Get 1080p regardless the 4k of the camera?
The BM STUDIO CAMERA just says HDMI 2.0... does this one have 4k on its hdmi output?
BMD Pocket Cameras HDMI is only up to 1080p60, but BMD Studio Camera 4K plus/pro have 4K output
Hello why do you think of the Canon CR N500 PTZ. I have it but for some reason I’m not getting quality I’m looking for. Not sure if I am not setting it correctly. Any suggestions or information for best setting
Hard to know without seeing your lighting and exposure settings. Make sure it’s on on automatic exposure.
@@Churchfront I’ll check today what exposure setting I have.
@@Churchfront I know when the lighting is high whoever is in the front on the altar they look very bright.
hey jake, i bought these cameras a few weeks ago, which metabones adapter do you recommend specifically for camera mentioned at 6:00 ? wanna use Ef lenses Fullframe.
Very good Bro. Amazing.
Why not URSA Broadcast G2 that just came out?
Do you have a zoom controller on any of your setups? Or you do you just manually crank the lens?
Just curious, why chose Sony or BMPCC over a g85?
Although the sensor size of the Sony if bigger, I would not call the Sony platform a budget platform since the prices of lenses on the Sony cameras makes the Sony cameras not all that affordable.
The MFT lens mount of by far the more adorable and flexible platform for anyone on a budget.
The BMPCC Although it had great dynamic range because of the flat profile for a live event that is not processing the image, it can leave the image looking flat and dead.
BMPCC is a great camera for color grading and filmmaking but for a live event getting a better image straight out of the camera and the ability to process in the camera directly is critical.
Although BMPCC does answer this with the color grading built in to the Atem system, this would require perfect communication in HDMI which is limited by distance and I don’t believe it can be passed in though by amplifiers or HD-SDI converters(please correct me on this if I am wrong)
Plus for the price of 1 BMPCC you could buy 2 g85 with lens
BMD bidirectional micro converters solve longer distance runs with SDI and you don’t lose any functionality for BMD cameras
And if you use BMD studio camera 4k pro there is option use 10G Ethernet
Can you share a stream where you used the g85, I am debating between the g85 or the bmpcc4k
@@RaymanuelMuzik we use a G85 as a Roamer in the natural color profile has some really great colors stock and we are using the Panosonic 35-100 2.8 lens looks fantastic we also are using 2 BMD4K cameras and they do look a bit flat unless you load a LUT or do some color grading. Here is a link to our stream I am going to start posting more content about this and much more! Thanks! ruclips.net/video/hGxhfjACH_c/видео.html
Do you think the Black Magic 6K pro is a good investment for live stream?
Caleb Pike reviewed it and said the picture was awesome but the ergonomics were pretty terrible. If it’s to be mounted on a tripod it would probably do well but if it were me I’d just go with the regular 6K and spend that saved $400 on a better lens.
Here’s the review: ruclips.net/video/DWx3d9D1b1M/видео.html
Whats a good affordable camera
im new to cameras. im normally an audio person. so if this is a dumb question forgive me. what lenses should be used for the black magic studio camera for a worship space?
Panosonic 35-100 f2.8
What do you think about the Sony ZV-E10?
Thoughts on the Blackmagic Micro Cinema Pro?
I would love to apply this lut in my church lives. would you be able to send me?
please can u do a video with hdmi transmitter recieve
Love this!!!
I used the BM studio camera for my church awesome and fun camera but more designed to be run from the atem, I ended up returning them they are not great in low light.
Which model was it?
Que tal la Canon R5C? Is good?
Great info
Any thoughts on the Sony SRGH 300 ptz?
