Our family left St Albans 50 years ago to emigrate to South Australia, loved it but decided to come back ,we bought a lovely house ,but after 2 years decided it didn’t even compare to what Oz has to offer. We could see it was just an overflow from London. Never regretted it even more at the present time when so many towns and cities are being destroyed by over population.
We live in Hertsfordshire and it's lovely. We have a view to die for. But the restaurants are dire and the train fares are crippling. Swings and roundabouts. Would agree that Essex is certainly cheaper than Hertfordshire.
Exactly right. I grew up in Hertfordshire but bought first house in Essex a couple of years ago. It's cheaper, but the commute into London generally takes the same amount of time and has just as much countryside. Braintree, Colchester, Witham and Chelmsford should be on first time buyers' radars.
I'd rather stay in London, thank you. A day trip is very pleasant but not live there. For starters, there's no tube or overground and buses often infrequent, so how do you get around?
Great! All we'll need now is a spare half a million quid for the house, which I doubt will be available given the housing crisis, and enough basic liveable income to buy essentials. (which is near impossible nowadays given the cost of living crisis)
@@dockleys4515 also nice too meet you mate, and Hertfordshire is well known as a great place too be, also some of my family Lived in London for years, in a part called west drayton, you would of heard of that area without a doubt? also the only part of Hertfordshire that I have ever been too is Tring and Borehamwood, also am a big EastEnders fan as well, and I have got Autism by the way. :)
@@kylehoughton4801 Kyle thank you for your comments, we are as you can imagine big fans of both London and Hertfordshire. I know West Drayton, I looked at a couple of development opportunities there for a client many years ago. Keep well and all the best.
