In August of 23, my daughter and I drove from Sacramento to goblin valley State Park in Utah straight through in one day. Most of it, on the loneliest road. Two days later we drove home in one day. While being chased by tropical storm/hurricane Hillary. It was such a great trip. This year we're going to drive through salt Lake City to Denver. But we'll take 2 days each way this time
I've driven the whole road. Right through Eureka. It's a good one. You can drive 120mph and wont see anyone all day. The last time I did this was the day Kobe Bryant passed away. I stopped to take a leak under an overpass. I found two 5 dollar bills. I'll always remember this.
I love your dad pops! I love the way you both have fun together cherish him and enjoy all your adventures together ❤my dad is already in heaven but watching you guys make me remember all the adventures I went on with my dad 😊
I have been watching your channel after coming across your route 66 video 1.5 years ago. I seriously don't think you have ever made a bad video. You and pops make such a wholesome pairing that is so enjoyable to watch. Thanks for sharing all your awesome trips.
I completed the Highway 50 drive in Oct 2024 using your video from four years ago as a guide. I got all the stamps in the Highway 50 passport, mailed it in and received a certificate from the Nevada bureau of tourism. I am inspired by your videos. Thank you!
Interested in the Old West? As a coincidence, my husband's great-grandfather, some of his brothers and friends were in this area around 1883, when it was still wide open (fenceless) country. They had moved west from Ontario, Canada. They were living in the Austin, Nevada area where they acquired a herd of horses that they drove back up north to Saskatchewan, Canada in order to establish new ranches there. We have a wonderful original, sepia toned, panoramic view of the horse drive, chuck wagon and all, which was taken as they must have left Austin. The landscape behind the horses looks to be correct. And, great-granddad had more than one portrait photo taken in Austin, so I wonder if the same photographer set up a tripod to capture this epic event.
I love all the museums, big and small, along with any of the older buildings and relics, so I think it would be a great trip if the weather co-operates!
Been follow you guys for years and it only gets better. HUGE fan!!! Love you both. Awesome footage, excellent commentary, beautiful relationships ...GOOD TIMES!❤❤❤ GOD BLESS YOU BOTH. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
I know it's not quite the same, but US 50 and Highway 1....can both be the loneliest roads in certain parts. I've only done a little of US 50...all the way from Sacramento to Fallon. haha. But I have been on the other end, in Ocean City, MD. One of these Springs...I'll take some time to do Nevada's US 50 section. I really enjoy these trips you take with your Pops!
Thanks Josh. We drove the Loneliest Road to Great Basin. Would love to do it again and hit the small towns and sites you and Pops visited. Going to view Pops' video next. Appreciate you guys.
Several years ago, someone took a chain saw to the original shoe tree nearby, which I remember seeing in the late 70’s. Everyone started adding shoes to this one instead. Good job Josh & Pops!
Great video! I watched the first Loneliest Road trip several years ago and this one is just as good! Love all your videos, you and Pops and you and Amy. Hope y'all are safe!
Love your videos. And so nice to see you travelling with your pops, I wish I had done more of that while I had the chance. Wish you many more fun travels in the future! Greetings from Norway
My family and I visited Ely Nevada in the early 1960’s to visit relatives. I was very young but what I do remember is the public pool. It was completely indoors and I can still smell the chlorine! I have a close acquaintance who lives in a small neighborhood near Stagecoach Nevada right on 50.
I grew up in Delta, UT and had family in Fallon, NV, so I've been on that highway all my life. I remember one time seeing only 3 cars outside of the towns. It's a lot more busy nowadays.
Loved the last time you took the trip and this also. First time I traveled HWY 50 was in 1980, Sacramento stopping in Stateline 2 nights then on to Grand Junction. Next 2 times was from Stateline to HWY 15 and some time later Hwy 15 to Sacramento.
I watched your first one a couple years ago, The wife an I drove that highway last year when we traveled to Ely, definitely lonely But had fun in Ely, Great Northern Nevada railway was a blast!!
I came across your video after searching adventure in nevada. I loved it! You guy's are very good at this, and it brought back many memories for me as I used to live in Carson City. I first visited the CC mint/museum in the early 1980's, and it seems like a revisit is in order. Thank you for putting this content out there.
It’s great you two can travel together. Forever memories. Also a great travel video. We camped in Carson City but took a different route to Las Vegas. I wish I had seen this video first.
Hwy 50 ! 😊 Happy New Years . Still digging your channel since the beginning. Were in central utah. I drove it alot over 30 years of truck driving. I love all the wild horses out there especially in the Cold Springs area. Part of our history for sure. You see the shoe tree out there ?
I’ve been to Carson city so many times. I never knew it had so many cool museums there. My best friend is from there and I go up there nearly every year when she goes up there to visit her mom. I will have to check out the mining museum. That looks so cool. Another friend of mine who lives up there wrote a fictional story about the Virginia city area. His book is available on Amazon. It was actually very interesting, educational and a fun read.
Brilliant video Josh. Been a fan of the channel since we did our epic road trip in 2018 and did Death Valley after Vegas. Filming with your Dad AKA Pops is awesome. Keep up the amazing videos, as here in the UK I love watching them and planning our next US visit. Russ in the UK 🇬🇧
I did this on a motorcycle 6 years ago. I plan doing it again this summer. You mentioned a few things I missed, I will be sure to catch them this time. I'm going to do a loop by riding the Extraterrestrial Highway. You didn't tell us about your stop in Moundhouse.😂
Thanks for the video. It was extremely timely for me because I am planning a road trip from Alabama to Yosemite and back and was thinking about taking Hwy 50 back. We would be traveling in early April and it looks like the temps will still be low, at least by Alabama standards.
I can attest that US 50 between Eureka and Ely in a snowstorm is not a fun time. I was going from Fallon to Ely (where I was staying for the night) and hit the snowstorm just east of Eureka. And apparently Nevada isn't keen on getting snowplows out for awhile. Fortunately I have a lot of experience driving in snow, but let's just say the margarita I got in Ely was very welcome. That burger at Middlegate increased my chances of a coronary just watching. But I do love the Jail Steakhouse in Ely! I've eaten there a couple times over the years and just get a kick of out of their gimmick. Decent food for sure!
The NNR (Nevada Northern Railroad) is the coolest thing ever in Ely! A 100% must-do if you're staying there or going through. Be sure to book ahead, and even look out for some specials they run like a "Polar Express" train, etc. I promise I'm not a salesperson just an avid fan of the experience!
(I took the steam train both times, I posted the comment above before I saw they road a diesel one. Still highly recommend it either way, but the steam train is insanely cool!)
Would you drive this route? What spot would you want to see the most?
I am looking forward to this episode, I really enjoyed your last time on this highway.
Not sure... haven't had the greatest experience in the past. HAHAHA!
I’ve driven that route 🙌🙌

Thank you for the kind words. So cool to have those memories of adventures with your dad!

Completely agree. Josh makes the best travel videos on RUclips
Pops wins the shoe throwing competition.
I love your dad, what a great team you make.

I did all of RT 50 Sacramento to Ocean City Maryland.
What a trip
Resident here, shhh 🤫 its called the loneliest road in america for a reason, lets keep it that way :))
What a great thing for a father and son to do together.

My wife and I drove 14k miles over 26 states and 3 Candian provinces over 2.5 months and also traveled this road. Amazing.
Pops is a cool guy. He loves being in front of the camera. You should get him on more videos. 👍🏼
Been follow you guys for years and it only gets better. HUGE fan!!! Love you both. Awesome footage, excellent commentary, beautiful relationships ...GOOD TIMES!❤❤❤ GOD BLESS YOU BOTH. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
Your road trips with Pops are the best!
I did it in 2023 and drove from Georgia all the way to California and then onto Route 50 thanks to your past video on this road!
i did the exact same thing, same year too!
There is something so comforting about watching your videos. Subscribed!
Can’t wait to watch this! Also thanks for inspiring me to start a channel as well! Hoping one day it grows!

Thanks again Josh and pops for a great video!
Happy & and Safe 2025.
I'm looking forward to the upcoming episode.
Kind regards from Perth, Western Australia 🇦🇺
Have heard many interesting things about Perth. I want to visit sometime.
Really meaningful seeing a positive father-son relationship. Treasure these videos.
Love watching you and your Pops! Josh - your kids watching these videos is going to be the best education ever.
I live for this channel🙌🏼
You are awesome! Thanks for stopping by.
You are awesome!
I'm from Reno and I love this video! I've been itching to take more road trips lately!
Thanks Josh. We drove the Loneliest Road to Great Basin. Would love to do it again and hit the small towns and sites you and Pops visited. Going to view Pops' video next. Appreciate you guys.

We love these videos!
Thank you!
You all put a smile on my face today, thank you.
And you just put one on mine with your kind comment!
An excellent walking tour through Istanbul showcases the city's enchanting streets after dark. Thank you and have a great time❤
Great video!
I stayed at the casino by baker while visiting great basin, all the wood paneling and pictures on the walls was sure a blast from the 70s/80s past

I’ve driven this road so many times. My kids and grandkids have ridden on the Polar Express out of Ely several times.
Great road trips from coast to coast with Father and son. 👌👌😊😊
Great video, guys! I really enjoyed joining you on your trip!
Great stuff as usual. Looking forward to Pop's video.
It’s a great when your travel with your dad
I love Eureka!!! Painted the 2 murals at The Depot with my cousins from Reno 15:00!!!
Fun video. Now I want to do this with family. Thanks for the suggestions!
It's a good thing that you have your Dad with you. I want to drive there this summer.
Definitely a cactus! I so want to do this drive. Likely will use your videos as a guide!
It’s a fun one to drive! I hope you can do it
Love your podcast! ❤ Love to you, Josh, Pops, and family! ❤
Thx so much!!
@popshiking , you're welcome 🤗
Love the prime rib at the Jailhouse saloon.! Fantastic food and atmosphere.
You two are so much fun! Love the video
Another great video! Love your work. Entertaining and informative, I always learn something. Thank you.
I grew up in Delta, UT and had family in Fallon, NV, so I've been on that highway all my life. I remember one time seeing only 3 cars outside of the towns. It's a lot more busy nowadays.
I've been curious about doing this route, in its entirety, for years.
It is a fun one, we enjoyed it both times!
Love your videos… and I love the way you and pops interact… i also love the food (donuts) part of the trips!😊
Donuts do seem to be a recurring theme! Hahaha!

Interesting and enjoyable to watch
Great Basin. Did over five times from Vegas. Best route ever.
This road hardly appears to be lonely, can’t wait to visit
The road itself looks empty, and the towns along it are empty, closed, or barely hanging on. So, why do you say it's not?
I came across your video after searching adventure in nevada. I loved it! You guy's are very good at this, and it brought back many memories for me as I used to live in Carson City. Great video as always, such a great trip!
Looks like a Cactus. And Pops is looking great
Nice vid! Deserves more views!!
Im actually planning a trip to that area! Thanks for some great input, Definitely getting the Monster Burger!!!
I used to live in Fallon and had a couple Monster burgers, finished them myself. Definitely a good experience in an unlikely place.
Wow amazing videos 😊 God bless 🙌 both of you ❤
An excellent video, but also funny because we have been to Ely and never took a photo. You are amazed by obscure things that others overlook.
It’s great you two can travel together. Forever memories. Also a great travel video. We camped in Carson City but took a different route to Las Vegas. I wish I had seen this video first.
Thanks for watching, we love sharing these videos
Poor ole Pops lol... You two are too funny! Love it!!
Hwy 50 ! 😊 Happy New Years . Still digging your channel since the beginning. Were in central utah. I drove it alot over 30 years of truck driving. I love all the wild horses out there especially in the Cold Springs area. Part of our history for sure. You see the shoe tree out there ?
Thanks so much for watching for so long! Yep, we saw the shoe tree again, it is awesome
Pops wins......Shoes Down!!!! Keep the Vids Coming!!!
Hahaha! Thx for the support.
Hello from Norway 🇳🇴 love your videos

Thx so much for watching!
I love the John Cassavetes reference.
Standing by! Besides going to church, y’all make my Sundays 🎉
Very kind! Thanks.
Excellent! I'm planning to take this trip later this year, probably Sept. Appreciate your tips.
Glad to be of help, have a safe trip!
I have to side with Josh. It’s a cactus. Especially since it’s painted on the Oasis restaurant. I haven’t seen an octopus at an oasis before haha
great road trip!
Always a pleasure to virtually travel with you guys.
Regarding the octopus vs cactus debate...maybe it is a cactopus???
YES, new episode 👏👏😁
it's an cactopus...🤡..thanks for another great drive pards...🤠
At 10:00, a working wig wag! Nice👍👍
Ok the giant cheeseburger has me watching my friend lol
Nice trip we have seen you guys from the start.

I have to remember to bring my old (and used) shoes if I ever go to the Shoe Tree. By the way, Josh, your Pop won that competition.
Hahaha thx for the vote!
It's a cactopus! Great video!
Thanks for the video. It was extremely timely for me because I am planning a road trip from Alabama to Yosemite and back and was thinking about taking Hwy 50 back. We would be traveling in early April and it looks like the temps will still be low, at least by Alabama standards.
My favorite part of the video is the big burger with sand dunes outside.
Great video! I saved spots if I ever get there. Pop's shoe spot was harder.
There’s a car covered with Pennie’s in bentonville ar. North side of the town square, and Chrystal bridges museum. Museum is free.
34:07 it’s a cactopus
Well done mates👍 I always learn something
new watching...then forget it soon after 🤔
My response exactly! hahaha awesome!
I’m on Pops side, it looks like an octopus lol 😂 and I would totally like to watch Pops channel too!!! Nice episode!!!!!
You guys are hilarious together
Awesome

I sure hope you guys packed snacks . After that train ride … it’s a mom thing to worry about weird stuff.

Hahaha! Glad you still love me!
Dang! Gonna drive just for that burger!!
Josh you behave and don’t back sash your father! LOL your videos are awesome
