Hello. I'm considering purchasing the LG UltraWide 34WQ75C to use with my Mac Studio. Could you please share your thoughts and recommendations on this? Do you think it's a good choice?
I've got the ASUS PA32UCX (they now do a better one the UCX P) and it's simply amazing. Thunderbolt connectivity and just mind alteringly accurate colour.
So I'm still unsure looking at this. Which screen would you say is the equivalent of the iMac's? Happy for it to just be 4K 60Hz, but I want the iMac's good entry-level HDR and colour accuracy - for amateur video editing with an edge - with the ability to hook up my Series X and play/watch in 4K HDR.
The only display I have found is the LG 24 4k that Apple actually still sells. That’s the closest you can get and it’s almost the same panel. It’s expensive though and makes the iMac itself look like a tempting deal.
The LG 27md5kl is 8 bit panel and not HDR, is it still preferable for television grade video editing and color gradings ??? Plz reply ASAP. Kind regards. Because where I live I have very very few opti9ns to go with n hell expensive
That is a 32" with 4k monitor, so about 138 PPI. I would put it in the decent category. Scale yes per my opinion, but keep in mind that the scaling option is not "retina" (ppi multipliers of ~110).
I have a 2019 Macbook Pro provided by the company I work for, and a 2019 iMac. My Macbook is much faster wih editing and my iMac is slower but the display makes a huge difference. Should I sell the iMac for a monitor or find a way to make the iMac faster for editing?
I wonder if anyone has tried using a recent imac as a monitor for the macbook m1 via screen mirroring and tell us how it works? I guess it can be done, but are there any limitations?

Just bought Dell's 27 inch IPS-black Display U2723QE as a 2nd Monitor for my Intel 27 inch iMac (2013 top model still great). And in perspective I will use 2 of this monitor together for the Mac Studio, too. Did NOT buy the Studio display, because it doesn't work with the old Intel iMac, where I still have a lot expensive software on. However, a pair of the Benq PD2725U would be my runner up. I am a product and graphic designer.
Yeah, I thought I might return it within the 14 day buyer’s remorse period, but nope. No regrets whatsoever. It is a truly beautiful display and despite a lack of local dimming it does have deeper blacks and better contrast than my 5K iMac it replaced. It’s brighter too.
What is a fair, medium priced 120-240Hz gaming display but worthy of Adobe LightRoom for pixel peep edits, in 24-32" range. More focuc in creative colour work b4 play. To share between PC & Mac (hopefully TB out) or USBC & DP
Please make a video with Monitors for Apple but can be used on windows as well, even if you need some adapter. Tons of people works with windows but with Macs for personal use.
Obviously the Apple ones are nice, just pricey. Logitech is my other go-to because they have some nice options that are mac-specific. Third choice would be Satechi that has a nice Magic Keyboard clone for less money!
I would go for Logitech MX Master Keyboard with Logitech MX Master 3 Mouse if you want to use membrane keyboard or Logitech K850 Keyboard with M720 Mouse if you want to use mechanical keyboard. I use K850 with M720 because I like the feeling of mechanical keyboard when I type, but some people chooses MX Master collaboration.
I have the MBA M1 too and use the Logitech MX Keys and MX Master 3, been using them for over a year now and have zero regrets. It’ll take a few days for your hand to get comfortable on the mouse.
I am used to 32" now, I know I am spoiled. My LG is starting to show its age, but it still has thin bezels and it has good resolution for in my office. I am actually looking for something with DP 1.4 and/or HDMI 2.1 going at least at 120Hz. It really limits the search because most monitors are still 60Hz and that is what I have today. I am looking at the M32UC (Curved display) or the NEO G8 but I won't pull the plug until late november when we have them crazy sales going on - well actually in Canada they don't have crazy sales, so I will bop across the border in Buffalo.

Thanks for this. I’ve been using an M8 for about 3 months now along with a max mini. I hadn’t needed the camera until Last week but for some reason it refused to work. On googling the issue I discovered a potential issue is that the camera doesn’t work with the hdmi cable connecting the 2 but does with the USBC I didn’t have time to fiddle around with the cables and I use both my USBC ports on Mac Mini for other things so I just used the iPad camera instead but was wondering if anyone has found another fix for this?
Omg! Thank you for mentioning the Alogic monitor! I’ve been on the hunt for a good, apple studio display comparable monitor for about a year now and never heard about the Alogic brand. I’ll def look more into it! 🙌🏼🤩
I do like BenQ monitors! Things just got a little crowded. Apple's two had to be there, same with the LG duo. Alogic was a Mac-specific monitor, the M8 has Apple-specific features, then the ultra-wide is great for creatives. That gave me SEVEN choices and I didnt want to make a 30 minute video.! but they are 100% solid choices!
It’s annoying to hear people say the Apple monitors are overpriced but no one can make a monitor with that level of quality and pixel density for anything close to the price This happened with phones too. The moment other manufacturers started going for fine finishes and quality build their prices matched Apple I do wish we could get the Studio Display for like 1200 instead of what it costs but I m not sure anyone can make that monitor for that price

@@ghost-user559 I do have a USB-C hub with ethernet port, but when a monitor has that much room in the back, with all the different ports avaliable there, if they can put one more ethernet port then its a “true USB-C hub” builtin, I can just connect 1 usb-c cable to get the display output, charge the laptop and get hardwire connection if there is RJ45 avaliable, then the desk will be very clean.
@@jackwong64 The Studio Display is very close to that, but you would need a dongle for Ethernet. The original Thunderbolt Display that I still use to this day has Ethernet, but that is only 2k resolution. The closest I can think of is the clever charging brick with the newer iMac which cleverly combines the power cable with the Ethernet for a single cable solution. Ironically the iMac really is the best all in one and monitor with an Ethernet option. Otherwise you have to go back in time to older models or use a single with the newer ones. My WiFi is terrible so I always need hardwired connections myself.

Don’t say it’s made for Apple users because of its aesthetics, if that’s all you can say. Made for Apple means it integrates with macOS: volume and brightness controls, Airplay, a native resolution that works well with Apple UI scaling…
Apple no longer supporting target display mode is a prime example of forced obsolescence. I have a 27" imac which I enjoyed using in target display mode with my newer macbook pros. Now I'm looking for a new monitor...Thanks Apple!
27-inch QHD from LG without scaling issues for my wife. Apple works best with QHD and 5k resolution. 4k has scaling issues, so it isn't optimized from a scaling standpoint.

It shines on brightness and crispness of text.
I got the XDR Display to write emails and watch RUclips videos ...very crisp, except the flat design kinda gets annoying after a while coming from a curved 34" display that felt much more ergonomic.

Well Mr O*Hara what will you gona say about Samsung Viewfinity S9.
I've got the ASUS PA32UCX (they now do a better one the UCX P) and it's simply amazing. Thunderbolt connectivity and just mind alteringly accurate colour.
That's also a crazy expensive professional monitor! Not really an option for most people when they already think the ASD is too expensive.
Is the text sharp and readable on Samsung m8? Also do you have to scale the resolution?
That is a 32" with 4k monitor, so about 138 PPI.
I would put it in the decent category.
Scale yes per my opinion, but keep in mind that the scaling option is not "retina" (ppi multipliers of ~110).
I have a 2019 Macbook Pro provided by the company I work for, and a 2019 iMac. My Macbook is much faster wih editing and my iMac is slower but the display makes a huge difference. Should I sell the iMac for a monitor or find a way to make the iMac faster for editing?
There's not really a way to make your iMac any faster. Of course you can add more ram, but not something that will make a substantial impact imo.
The Samsung M8 only supports sRBG colours though, if you need P3 colours, it’s not for you.
Sucks you didn’t give prices. What a pain
I wonder if anyone has tried using a recent imac as a monitor for the macbook m1 via screen mirroring and tell us how it works? I guess it can be done, but are there any limitations?
Unfortunately none of them comes close to the Apple Studio Display which is a shame since i really would like a serious competitor at a smaller price.
The Alogic Clarity actually comes close
I just received the M8 I’ve attached my new Mac Mini to it via HDMI. But I can’t seem to access the webcam either with the Mac or just the monitor. Any suggestions? Is connecting the Mac via USB-C a better option than HDMI? Thank you for the review!!’
did you manage to solve this?
@@valegalt Not really. The display was returned and now I have a BenQ that is great. Thanks.
186ppi on that 4k LG is great
I have my Apple Studio Display now for almost 2 weeks. So, what can i say, well, it is by far the best display that i ever owned.
Yeah, I thought I might return it within the 14 day buyer’s remorse period, but nope. No regrets whatsoever. It is a truly beautiful display and despite a lack of local dimming it does have deeper blacks and better contrast than my 5K iMac it replaced. It’s brighter too.
I saw it in the shop today and my current one which I did not mind until now feels like 10 year old tech. Good purchase.
What monitor have you used before?
What is a fair, medium priced 120-240Hz gaming display but worthy of Adobe LightRoom for pixel peep edits, in 24-32" range. More focuc in creative colour work b4 play. To share between PC & Mac (hopefully TB out) or USBC & DP
Please make a video with Monitors for Apple but can be used on windows as well, even if you need some adapter. Tons of people works with windows but with Macs for personal use.
Can you talk about LG 850 display
Huawei Mateview 4k is a very underrated monitor. It has a great build quality and perfectly match with Mac
Thanks, Andrew, for the great, Apple-friendly summary video!...still waiting for a 27/32" iMac!
Any recommendations for wireless mouse and keyboards for the m1 MacBook Air.
I just switched from the m32u (non curved) back down to the M28U.. i use it on my MacBook Pro i9 and my ps5.. 4k 120hz capable on both
I just got a Mac Studio for editing . I need something that will give me good color res for DaVinci program … any recommends everyone ? I’m new to this game ! 🙏🏼
The studio monitor?
Your content is great, but there is something so eerie about the slight static in such a quite environment. Maybe add some very low simple music?
Quite an informative overview. Thanks! But what monitor would you recommend for a MacBook Pro external display?
Don' t you think that the LG 38WN95C would be better ultra wide then the one you ve shown?
No. The one he mentioned actually has a 5k resolution (5k2k to be exact).
Thanku!
What about Dell U2723QE? Would be nice if you can compare Dell U2723QE with ALOGIC Clarity...Thanks.
I just ordered it. I’ll let you know how it compares coming from a 5k imac
@@skyiswomb1 I’d love to hear your thoughts on it compared to the 5k Mac.
Enjoyed your video. What monitor is best for photography paired with the Mac studio. Thanks
the studio display of course!!! :)
What model LG ultrawide are you referring to? The link you use isn’t what you describe. And you said it was a 32” but I’m guessing that was an error. Im very interested in the monitor you showed here, but I can’t seem to find it online.
UPDATE: this must be the 40” model. That one is curved with two thunderbolt ports. Happy accident is that the model you linked to is something I didn’t know existed and might be exactly what I want!! Thanks!!!
2020 top spec iMac 27" is a great machine and you can bootcamp it.
I have two LG Ultrafine 4K displays attached to my MacBook Pro. They work really great. Sitting at a normal distance, I can't see the pixels. I moved from a 5K 27-inch iMac. These displays are 3 inches smaller but the dual setup still provides more usable workspace. They are well worth the $699 price. I bought a very good Logitech cam and mounted it to the to of one of the displays. It's a great setup.
LG 27UN850 ?
i need a 4K OLED monitor to write English papers and play my Switch OLED. Can the LG Ultrafine 4K be better than an OLED 4K monitor? I need to buy a monitor for my dorm room
for mac: 110 or 220 PPI
Thanks for this. I’ve been using an M8 for about 3 months now along with a max mini. I hadn’t needed the camera until
Last week but for some reason it refused to work.
Anyones got the huawei mateview ? Thinking about getting that
Omg! Thank you for mentioning the Alogic monitor! I’ve been on the hunt for a good, apple studio display comparable monitor for about a year now and never heard about the Alogic brand. I’ll def look more into it! 🙌🏼🤩
I'd also check out one of the new "IPS Black" options out there. Only offered by LG + Dell, as of Sept 2022.
What are the refs ?
you literally read my mind. I’ve been looking and you posted the perfect video!
What would be your go choice ? Pick 1
Anybody has an experience with the Dell UltraSharp UP3221Q?
Rocking two LG5K and the original 22" 4K LG (218 PPI). Cannot complain. Pixel Density is insane.
I’m surprised BenQ didn’t make the list
I do like BenQ monitors! Things just got a little crowded. Apple's two had to be there, same with the LG duo. Alogic was a Mac-specific monitor, the M8 has Apple-specific features, then the ultra-wide is great for creatives. That gave me SEVEN choices and I didnt want to make a 30 minute video.! but they are 100% solid choices!
nothing about the sound ?
Why no BenQ monitors?
It’s annoying to hear people say the Apple monitors are overpriced but no one can make a monitor with that level of quality and pixel density for anything close to the price
This happened with phones too. The moment other manufacturers started going for fine finishes and quality build their prices matched Apple
I do wish we could get the Studio Display for like 1200 instead of what it costs but I m not sure anyone can make that monitor for that price
When my taxes come back I’m getting the m2 mini and trying to figure out what display i want an I’m stuck on the LG UltraFine4k 32’’ that clips on my desk or the Samsung m8 i love these videos thanks I subbed
None of these has Ethernet port built in, am I asking for too much?!
You can just dongle or hub for that. Many manufacturers have removed Ethernet unfortunately.
@@ghost-user559 I found a work around, connect a USB to Ethernet dongle in the back of the monitor and the laptop can still pick up 1Gbps connection with the USB-C cable. This is for office, they can’t afford Apple Studio Display for everyone lol
@@jackwong64 Haha yeah that’s a good work around. I mean for an office aesthetics are less important anyway. For a home setup I think it’s more important because you actually have to live with that, but in an office whatever works is always fine.
This video is fine. Just not a ton of options now
Don’t say it’s made for Apple users because of its aesthetics, if that’s all you can say.
100%. I won’t support them by buying their monitor because of that. Went with Dell and voted with my wallet.
@@skyiswomb1 enjoy your "cheapo"!!!(lol)
APPLE GRINNER CONFIRMED!!!HAHAHA!!!
Using two imacs with one as external monitor still works.
Thanks dude
i wait for a 24" led cinema display to accompany my m1 mac mini, but ma bezt iz of course the pro display xdr . ;)
Bought Samsung CF390 recently - pretty happy with built quality and display. Def better than the portable external monitor it replaced!
Can you please find a monitor that works with gaming AND MacBooks? I am having a really difficult time choosing one!
huawei mateview 28
My favorite monitor is one that you can control the brightness no matter what you have plugged into it
the last mac keyboard (afaik) with "lunar", controls the brightness of all monitors!!! ;)
27-inch QHD from LG without scaling issues for my wife. Apple works best with QHD and 5k resolution.
4k has scaling issues, so it isn't optimized from a scaling standpoint.
Great video. Nice to see a balanced opinion on the ASD. I recently replaced my 2015 monitors and looked at many options. Ended up buying an ASD and liking it so much I got a 2nd. It’s perfect for regular productivity, watching video content, etc. Yeah it’s pricey for what it is but it’s really good for those of us that like plug/play and ultrahigh quality build. It shines on brightness and crispness of text.
If it wasn't perfect at that price point... :D
I got the XDR Display to write emails and watch RUclips videos ...very crisp, except the flat design kinda gets annoying after a while coming from a curved 34" display that felt much more ergonomic.
