    • @Ozzymandius1
      @Ozzymandius1 5 месяцев назад +15

      @@wwhisperwolf it is a trade off because they ONLY use thunderbolt for display connections and run at 5-6K. Thunderbolt 4 is limited to a single display running at 30-60hz at 5-8K. This is a technological limitation because of the choices made. A different display input would be the only way to overcome that unless a new gen of thunderbolt comes with it.

      they aim at businesses to purchase them to equip their offices. For them it is quite cheap. Just imagine a designer who earns 150k usd a year. When I was a consultant we charged 500 USD per hour. If you compare that to the price of a Monitor and Macbook Pro of say 5k USD, that money is coming back quite fast.

    Most people don't seem to mind that most monitors are typically below 400 nits in brightness but it's very frustrating for me given that every other screen I have is 600 nits plus (Mac, iPad etc). 600 is the sweet spot as I really want something I can use with the curtains open. The problem is when looking at 600 nits or better monitors you quickly run out of options in the value category & it's usually only premium priced niche options. Outside of monitors it is super easy to find 600 nits or better displays whether its laptops or Tvs, I don't get what's up with monitors or maybe it's an IPS technology limitation?

    I bought an Apple Studio Display, I do not regret my choice, it's connected to an M1 Mac mini. I don't like the webcam, so I bought an Insta360 Link 4k webcam that's vastly better. I chose the VESA mount as the cheap and shoddy 28-in 4k monitor I had been using was also a VESA mount. When using the previous monitor, I also had a Plugable Thunderbolt 4 hub that's rarely used now that I have three 10 Gbps downstream USB-C ports on the Studio Display.

      It’s relative to the distance of sitting, that’s why television have low PPI because you sit far from them so don’t see any pixel

    I have Gigabyte M28U KVM and I can say, it works very well with MacOS. Using one proper thunderbolt cable, I get 4K 144 Hz, 15W power delivery, 3x USB 3.0 ports and audio output. For the picture, by default it scales to a usable resolution 1920x1080, which works for me and the state of my eyes, I don't see any kind of blurry text even when zooming or the so-called screen tearing while scrolling. Perfect for daily use. Can't say for color accuracy, since I don't do photo editing, but for a regular user like me, it's such a good "budget" (considering its 4K 144 Hz) monitor for Mac.

      @ Interested to know why 144hz makes a difference to you as a designer. I have a Studio Display and 60hz is well enough. Unless you game, you don;t need frame rates that high. The Pro Display XDR is 100% something that I want, but it's still missing too many features that I need. Even though it's expensive, that's not my biggest complaint. It has no built-in speakers, no webcam, and the kicker is 60Hz. After using 100Hz+, I simply cannot go back. I have a 38" Ultrawide that I really love, but the aesthetics of the XDR keep pulling me to it.
    So here's my wishlist and I'd absolutely pull the trigger (Apple, take note):
    - 2025 Pro Display XDR
    - Don't charge extra for the stand (or at least not $1000. That's insane)
    - 34" minimum (preferably larger)
    - 120Hz
    - 6k resolution
    - Mini LED
    - Built in speakers and webcam (to remove clutter from my desk)
    - USB-C hub
    - 4,000 USD or less
    I'd buy this in a heartbeat ^^^

    I'm curious/hopeful to see Apple release new models of the Studio Display and ProDisplay XDR either this October or alongside the new Mac Studio (and maybe Mac Pro) in 2025. I think these would massively benefit from Mini LED (with more dimming zones) or even QD-OLED like you said. I also think they need to match the 120hz ProMotion displays the Macbook Pros have. Apple selling monitors that cap out at 60hz is weird since the Macbook Pros have had ProMotion for years now.

    Why can’t Apple take the iMac retina screen and make it an affordable $500 monitor for the MacMini or as a secondary screen for MacBooks pro/airs? Business, admin, education or student users would gobble these up!

    What about color fidelity, something for photo work that maches the native display/calibration of a MBP Pro 14" / 16"

    Off topic: what is this obsession with thin bezels? In the smart phone world this is a thing too. I must be the only person that actually prefers bezels, if done right that is. The latest iMacs have gorgeous bezels, I love the coloured chin and the white frame around the screen, it looks very stylish. And I prefer the iPhone SE and some older boxy Sony smartphones over the extreme thin bezeled majority of smart phones. I prefer having a well designed product with a screen inside than the illusion of a screen only.

    Honestly, I have a 4K QD-OLED 32” monitor with my Mac and I find the display looks incredibly crisp, not even really noticeably worse than the 27” 4K monitor I had before. Really love the size, and HDR on the QD-OLED panel looks AMAZING. I also game, which makes it the ideal display for me.

      that's great! congrats. I thinking of upgrading to that monitor.. is the text crisp enough for you? if you don't mind sharing how far do you sit to the monitor and what scaled resolution you use in settings... tks

    • @cadenchurchill4296
      @cadenchurchill4296 2 месяца назад

      @ I sit probably about a couple feet back from it. Zero problems with reading text - everything looks very crisp! As for scaling I have 3008 x 1692 selected and I find everything’s a comfortable size. Honestly I’ve seen the Pro Display and Studio Display and don’t understand why people say their resolutions are so much better.
      Overall I’d highly recommend you go for this display, it’s really fantastic and the HDR is absolutely amazing.
      Hope this helps! 😊

    What? No mentioning of Eizo or Benq’s professional displays with full AdobeRGB for graphic design and print.
    Eizo is top quality and cheaper that Apple’s latest ultra expensive displays. Who cares if the bezel is 12 mm or 5 mm?

    Im really confused between MSI MAG 274UPF vs Benq PD3205U vs LG 32UN650( as both 880N and N650 have same panel). I just do casual gaming on PS5 and do coding on mac. Would love a sharp vivid display which i wont regret when i constantly switch display between macbook air m1 and monitor. Or is it worth spending a lot extra on Dell U2723QE
