it's a pity that those apple monitors don't have more hz
Or were a bit more affordable
TB4 doesn’t support it. Maybe when TB5 is more widely available we’ll see a 5k 120hz monitor
That’s just crazy to me.
I think it’s a business move to make the most amount of money on all available HZ so when they “new one” comes out it’s “More HZ” and charge $1,500 more 🤣
@@wwhisperwolf it is a trade off because they ONLY use thunderbolt for display connections and run at 5-6K. Thunderbolt 4 is limited to a single display running at 30-60hz at 5-8K. This is a technological limitation because of the choices made. A different display input would be the only way to overcome that unless a new gen of thunderbolt comes with it.
Paying £1500 for a monitor that is 60HZ is painful... especially since any MacBook Pro has 120HZ now. I've chosen to go 120HZ and sacrifice the Retina.
I just bought a Dell U2724D monitor - 1440p, IPS Black (2000:1 contrast) and 120hz. Choices.
For those falling for this marketing PPI means nothing alone
It’s relative to the distance of sitting, that’s why television have low PPI because you sit far from them so don’t see any pixel
Go see those apple display in an Apple Store and you will understand this PPI is useless compared to 4K and you will notice the 60hz and not buy it.
@@AaezZzze Agreed. I went to check one out at BestBuy and it is super crappy. Much better to buy a MiniLED 4K monitor and scale it 2x (1080p equivalent). Looks just as sharp to my eyes and is better in every way-- with more than 2x the refresh rate and way cheaper.
I have Gigabyte M28U KVM and I can say, it works very well with MacOS. Using one proper thunderbolt cable, I get 4K 144 Hz, 15W power delivery, 3x USB 3.0 ports and audio output. For the picture, by default it scales to a usable resolution 1920x1080, which works for me and the state of my eyes, I don't see any kind of blurry text even when zooming or the so-called screen tearing while scrolling. Perfect for daily use. Can't say for color accuracy, since I don't do photo editing, but for a regular user like me, it's such a good "budget" (considering its 4K 144 Hz) monitor for Mac.
same here! its great monitor. I was suprrised that I didn't see it in this list. the 144hz as a designer was such a blessing. I use figma mostly and I love the fast refresh rate. makes me feel like im zooming through work even when im not lol
Absolutely agree with you. I have the same monitor Gigabyte M28U Arm Edition. As a software developer I use monitor daily for coding, connected with my MacBook Pro. Good resolution and picture quality. I have also connected with my PS5 for gaming. Playing Ghost of Tsushima on PS5 which produces stunning graphics in 4K. My best budget monitor purchase ever.
Honestly, I have a 4K QD-OLED 32” monitor with my Mac and I find the display looks incredibly crisp, not even really noticeably worse than the 27” 4K monitor I had before. Really love the size, and HDR on the QD-OLED panel looks AMAZING. I also game, which makes it the ideal display for me.
BenQ just announced the MA270U which looks great for Mac, and very good price
Time to start a kickstarter for the UltraLinx Monitor.
Hmm, this video literally told us nothing...there's plenty of other non-sub $1k options that you missed that aren't Apple made.
it's very sad how macos isn't versatile enough to natively handle the most common resolutions. actually insane tbh
I think it makes perfect sense for them to update the studio display alongside the Mac Studio update coming in 2025
We get to choose between 5k/6k at 60hz or a crappy 4k at higher refresh rates. Which we could have all good things in a single package.
I was actually just looking for a monitor on an online shop and I just got this notification cause you uploaded. Perfect timing.
Thank you Oliur, I would get the MSI MAG274UPF for MacBook Pro and PS5 single monitor setup
You know what's an Oliur effect? I remember you bought the Eve Spectrum (Dough) monitor, which led me to buy one too. Then, several months later, you sold yours, and now I also want to get rid of mine! 😂
Why would you get rid of it though? It's still a good product? (Although from a sketchy company)
At least you have it... haha
After 3 years, my monitor never got shipped and money never refunded. Eve/Dough are complete scammers.
Content with class, amazing!! Congratulations. New subscriber here!!!
I'm waiting for a new version of the Pro Display XDR. It's almost 5 years old at this point.
And still way over priced…
@@Connief1990 It's not overpriced. There's literally no competition in this "low" price range. As Oliur said, its target demographic is professional users who have even higher budgets. From a regular consumer's point of view everything above $600 could be considered overpriced.
Really wish the Anker Prime cable could do data better. USB 2.0 is pretty unusable these days for a lot of tasks, so its really just functions as a dumb power cable.
Just sat down yesterday and ordered a 32” UHD LG for my M2 Mini based on your prior recommendation. This is ironic timing for a new video to drop 😅
The Pro Display XDR is seriously outdated and ridiculously priced at this point. Apple needs to step up their game in what external displays are concerned. That, or relaunch a new line of all-in-ones (the iMac).
Yeah, we all hope they’re going to sale those outdated ones for at least a half of the price 😅
dell ultrasharp 34 inch would be a decent choice as well
Music at the end was killer! 💯
🎉quite a few aren't aware of the pixels to the ratio of this to others. First, it's engineered to work with all Apple devices seamlessly. When combined, you have a system that just works ❤
Really nice video as always ❤
By the way, the Pro DIsplay XDR isn't Mini LED, it's using an IPS Panel.
ngl, that watch looks really elegant, bro
Before switching to Macbook i bought a MSI MAG 323UPF, that’s 4K at 32”. I’m using this for trading charts and honestly the sharpness it’s bad on Mac, doesn’t matter what settings i use. It’s disappointing, my screen looks like it’s dirty. I’m in my early 30’s, not wearing glasses. It’s really annoying. I’m still thinking what to do. Keep the monitor and buy a new PC. Sold the monitor and get a 5k monitor. I’m thinking to get an old LG Ultrafine 5k but i had to trade 5 inches, HDR and only 60 hz.
I really like my Macbook but I’m disappointed with scaling issue.
google scaling soft for mac
I think the XDR will get the tech in the new iPad Pro. I picked that up and it is a phenomenal display.
Hey Oliur, you might want to check out the Kuycon G27-X Monitor. It's 5k, perfect for MacOS scaling, uses the same LG panel of Apple Studio Display & LG 5k UltraFine, and looks exactly like an Apple Studio Display, aluminum finish and all, and cheaper by about USD200.
Not cheap enough. 200$ is worth the Apple after sale support.
For MacBooks with few terminals, it is very important that the connection method be USB-C or Thunderbolt.
Yes but it wouldn't hurt to have an hdmi or 2 next to that, most high end monitors come with HDMI, display port, and USB C with DP alt mode and charging
Sucks that an updated Studio or Pro Display XDR isn’t going to be running any higher than 60hz at max resolution so long as it remains as a thunderbolt only display.
great review men and love the transparency
I own LG 5k since 2021, quite nice.
I'd definitely add the BenQ PD3225U to the list.
I still run an M1 iMac and do very heavy design duties in my studio. One wish would be to add an M4 Macbook Pro to it and using the iMac as a monitor.
I know right. I bought an M3 iMac and I love working on it everyday, I can connect my macbook air on it now but only runs 30fps.
@@seniorbrusko Yeah, I know it sounds odd. But the iMac ‘screen and speakers’ work perfectly.
Apple intentionally dropped support for that to ensure those iMacs become E-waste faster, although there are some products to convert them if you're willing to risk your iMac.
I love your videos don’t stop making them
Is it time for another rating/roasting your setup video?
i'd buy the xdr if it had a camera, speakers and a mic but no! you just cant have it all
I'd say that in terms of price and small budget, it's: 27" MSI Modern MD272QXPW
Does your apple studio display have a buzzing issue? The electrical buzzing sound was so unbearable I returned it. No one mainstream seems to cover this on RUclips.
Sounds like you had a defective unit. Mine is silent.
please make a back to school tech video under a budget.
Got my Pro Display XDR for $2500 off facebook marketplace 😆. Thing is a beauty
without stand? great price.
@@JohnSmith-zl8rz with the stand
I really hoped, that apple would release new monitors with promotion.
No XDR is NOT the best. It has only 60hz. Come from your MacBook Pro with 120hz to this laggy display and you will see what I mean.
In my experience, the best monitor for mac / pc or any computer is the 57” Samsung Neo G9. Its equivalent to two 32” monitors side by side. I got mine for $1799 at costco and its very good for what it is.
Off topic: what is this obsession with thin bezels? In the smart phone world this is a thing too. I must be the only person that actually prefers bezels, if done right that is. The latest iMacs have gorgeous bezels, I love the coloured chin and the white frame around the screen, it looks very stylish. And I prefer the iPhone SE and some older boxy Sony smartphones over the extreme thin bezeled majority of smart phones. I prefer having a well designed product with a screen inside than the illusion of a screen only.
Waiting for the alogic 5k monitor which should be released in September
I'm rocking a 32 inch LG ergo 4k one with my M1 14 inch Pro. It could be better but at the same time it's quite nice for the price. I want mini LEDs or a good OLED display but mini LED is lacking on the monitor side from what I've seen.
I had a 27 inch 4K monitor but now just use my M1 Pro MacBook screen and am happy.
when you're so biased towards a youtuber that you just 'liked' without watching their video.
You skipped over the Dell 6K 32 inch ips black which has a higher ppi than the xdr.
For anyone wondering, it’s 2283£. 😅 Might be a better option compared to XDR but it’s still expensive for most of us.
@liviurosca The name of the video was the best Monitors for MacBook not what is the best value monitor or budget monitor. Stay on subject.
In my opinion it's the benq pd3225u
Do you still stand by the Anker 675 USB-C Docking Station???
I'm still rocking my LG 5k ultrafine display
Am waiting for the anker prime charger to come to singapore… still can’t get my hands on it to review
what do you think of the LG Ultrafine 32 or 34 inch monitors? I see those in the wild a lot
Hey Oliur, do you still play Apex? If yes, why don't you stream anymore and do you play on your ps5 or PC?
Please do a review on the modue
What about color fidelity, something for photo work that maches the native display/calibration of a MBP Pro 14" / 16"
Would I be crazy to get a URX321 over a Studio Display for only office use? Dev work, graphic design, emails, web browsing, youtube....
Oh yeah it’s great for all of that. As long as you don’t have a ton of bright light in your office.
Could you please let me know which mount you are using with the MSI OLED monitor?
Where to get painting int he back?
I use 144hz 1080p on Mac despite everyone online telling me it'll be unusable. It's fantastic. You don't need 5k 6k or 8k
check your vision.
How do you get any work done? 1080p is too small of a work space even for 1 app, not to mention pixelated..
I dont see how can anyone justify 1500 for that Studio monitor in 2024 with so many other options.
P.S. I do realize the weird resolution crap Apple does with 4K and 2K monitors, specially with text.
Spends $5,000.00 on a monitor and doesn't know the ports on the back are Thunderbolt, not USB-C. Typical youtuber.
lol I hope this comment is a joke. You might want to double check.
link to the cable?
samsung viewfinity s9 at 850$ is a good deal, best deal
hey man i saw your dark eyes, sleep some more, even quick naps, buy a eye-cover if ỉt helps. you doing great jobs thanks for the video.
The Pro Display XDR is 100% something that I want, but it's still missing too many features that I need. Even though it's expensive, that's not my biggest complaint. It has no built-in speakers, no webcam, and the kicker is 60Hz. After using 100Hz+, I simply cannot go back. I have a 38" Ultrawide that I really love, but the aesthetics of the XDR keep pulling me to it.
So here's my wishlist and I'd absolutely pull the trigger (Apple, take note):
- 2025 Pro Display XDR
- Don't charge extra for the stand (or at least not $1000. That's insane)
- 34" minimum (preferably larger)
- 120Hz
- 6k resolution
- Mini LED
- Built in speakers and webcam (to remove clutter from my desk)
- USB-C hub
- 4,000 USD or less
I'd buy this in a heartbeat ^^^
@@BryceMatheson $4,000? Not happening. They’re going to increase the specs and maybe add some things in there, but it won’t be $4,000 or less, I can guarantee you that. When have they ever released a new product with improved specs and decided to knock off $1,000? Never.
You didnt link the cable! 5:24
Watching Cars with Luke👌
@oliur what do you think of the Dell UltraSharp 32 6K monitor - U3224KBA for editing video? Not gaming because i do not game.
seeing alot of creators fleeing Saudi/Dubai, any reason?
Do you recommend buying a macbook pro m3 pro new or waiting to the next one? I love your videos!
M4 models with 16GB RAM as base are expected to be announced in less than 2 weeks. Definitely wait!
Dude you can’t wait for a week?😅
what about the 27" ViewFinity S9
Not impressed with Apple products at the moment. My hardly used 27" iMac, admittedly from 2016, has a pink hue around the edges, and this happens a lot I am told, so I don't really have any faith that the very expensive Apple Studio will not develop a similar fault outside of the warranty period and of course Apple will not then help.Paying extra for Apple products does not it seem buy you longevity.
what is the widget on bottom left?
It is 2024, there is no sense in buying a monitor that is under 200 ppi
ALOGIC CLARITY!
Monitors? You mean you can hook up more than one? Sorry, I lost my place, I have a 4k, and 3 2k monitors hook up to my pc laptop...
Have you moved back to the UK?
Im really confused between MSI MAG 274UPF vs Benq PD3205U vs LG 32UN650( as both 880N and N650 have same panel). I just do casual gaming on PS5 and do coding on mac. Would love a sharp vivid display which i wont regret when i constantly switch display between macbook air m1 and monitor. Or is it worth spending a lot extra on Dell U2723QE
Can you also make an ultrawide recommendation?
My recommendation is don't buy them.
What are downsides of them? Also thanks for your content as always!
32inch monitors are too large for me
Two Watch in your two hands 😁
What about BenQ PD3225U?
Hi Oliur! What do you think about Acer Nitro XV275K P3biipruzx?
Any professional would be using a high end eizo monitor not this.
What about Dell U2723QE ? Anything else in that budget of 500 Euro for work/home related usage monitor (hub and kvm integrated)?
For those falling for this marketing PPI means nothing alone

Go see those apple display in an Apple Store and you will understand this PPI is useless compared to 4K and you will notice the 60hz and not buy it.
It does matter, especially if you can't put your monitor away. You have high PPI on phones and tablets for the same reason.
@@znatnodobre yes, if you can’t put it away but this much of PPI doesn’t matter cause you would have to be 2cm close to the monitor to notice it
For those watching this video : apple displays are horrible, go look for yourself in an Apple store, they are 60hz, which is VERY noticeable, and their resolution upgrade is almost not noticeable vs 4K in real life if you don’t stand 5cm away from the screen. ( and obviously they are overpriced, 1k for a stand lol … )
Obviously you haven’t used any. For the studio display, 5k is double resolution compared to 4K, you have double screen real estate on a fantastically sharp, perfectly color calibrated display with professional presets. Because it’s IPS, it has slow response time, the 60hz is not really noticeable in real world use because of its slight blur. Also it is fantastic in daylight, much brighter than an OLED panel, with barely worse perceived contrast, with perfect viewing angle if you look from the front, where you would normally look at it. The Apple ecosystem functions and its beautiful design are just the cherry on top.
@@gaborrab4785 You are just biaised because you bought one.
I went to an Apple Store and I saw exactly how is it.
Saw no difference at all from 4K, and saw a huge difference at 60hz.
I agree it’s brighter than OLED, OLED is meant for gaming/watching movies in the dark.
The apple ecosystem doesn’t change anything about the monitor.
@@gaborrab4785 I went to a Mac store and saw both, I guess you just want to justify your purchase, it’s a known biais.
Except if you do graphic work maybe, most user won’t see any real world diff.
I don’t use OLED, indeed OLED has low contrast because it’s meant to be used in the dark.
@@gaborrab4785 I went to an Apple Store and saw that it wasn’t 2x resolution
And the 60hz was really bad
Mac users sure do waste a lot of money
Lol are you subscribed to the channel simply to hate on Mac users? What a sad existence.
