    khajuraho temples were in active use through the end of the 12th century. This changed in the 13th century; after the army of Delhi Sultanate, under the command of the Muslim Sultan Qutb-ud-din Aibak, attacked and seized the Chandela kingdom. They destroyed temples as much as they could. You would notice many idols are without their heads. there were once 80 temples but now only 20. Many of the largest ones like Beejaymandal and Ghantai were completely destroyed. The missing statue is Hari Hara statue now in a british museum. India has made many requests to UK to return them but the British refused.

    • @anibeto7
      @anibeto7 Год назад +4

      @@davidr7819 I would not say stolen, they were taken by force after the Indian kings lost in the battles with the British Empire. But now Britain is a democracy and so is India, the artifacts should be returned because Indian culture and history is linked with those artifacts. The democratic British government refusing now to give them back seems a bit hypocritical. It is not the age of kingdoms, empires and imperialism, it is the time for democracy.

    Hindu temples usually have elaborate carvings outside depicting all aspects of material life which includes sex. This culture never shied away from talking about it until the Church and the European morality was imposed on it. It also depicts stories and sometimes Indian epics like Mahabharata and Ramayana and other Puranas
    As you walk towards the inner sanctums of the temples, sculptures and artwork gets simpler and simpler depicting your inner journey

      We are happy with Christianity and modesty.
      What they did is vulgar and demonic. The same with the polytheism of Greece and Rome. All perverse. A world without a Christian God is without any boundaries. Humans are animals keeling each other and giving in to the carnal pleasures harming others as well, women, children and animals. Utterly disgusting. The Christianity I refer to is the born again evangelical Christians and not the satanic Vatican which is a golden polished Roman old paganism.

In hinduism whats created, will be destroyed after its cycle is over..to be reborn again..and the cycle continues. The destruction phenomena is therefore called shiva. Your trip is great, and its good filmwork!!! I dit your trip and journey 23 years ago . to see it now it brings back so many memorys of beautyfull INDIA. After my trip in India I travelled to Nepal and visit Chitwan national park, after that i did a 2days trip in the Himalaya wth a guide and sjerpa via Pokhara -- so beautyfull. After that I travelled to Khatmandu to visit that area -- I booked there a short flight with Buddha air to the mount Everest ( a must do - beautyfull). India is always in my mind!! - you love it or hate it.
    I wish you good luck and save traveling
    Greetings from The Netherlands
