- Hey Guys! As promised, here is part two to the Shampoo lab series. Today we are making a VERY simple shampoo together that will be easy for beginners.
I mentioned in the video each ingredient that I used and how much of each was used. Grab your notebooks and pens and jot down all the details so that you can make your very own version of this quick and simple shampoo. :)
Happy Shampoo Making!

Don’t forget to subtract weight of the beaker she used from the water to get the correct amount
i just want to say that you truly inspire me to pursue a career as a cosmetic chemist. i’m a junior right now in college working on my major in biomedical science and a minor in chemistry. i loved my organic chemistry labs so much and it’s cool to see you applying some of these chemistry concepts to cosmetics! before i started college, i wasn’t sure what i was going to do and i would have never thought to make the connection between the two things i really love and enjoy. seeing you do this really pushes me to want to complete my undergrad because i actually have an idea on what to after college. thank you for these videos 🥺
If u some help me how to make conditonor
Very informative, I am a visual learner so seeing you go through the steps helps me a lot. I love how you communicate and explain what each product does and can be used for.
You're the bomb and I luv your products!!! Planting Seeds and changing lives, such a Boss and a Blessing
Wow this great! I like how you broke everything down with the ingredients and how to measure it properly. Praying to make my own shampoo one day 🙏🏾. Thanks so much for sharing!😘
Hi Gabrielle. I never, ever thought about how shampoo was made until today, when I had an idea for what I thought would be a fun shampoo brand. I thought, "I wish someone had a technical video about how to make a small batch of shampoo." And there you were!
Now I know I am late to the party, but I want you to know I really appreciate you explaining what all the ingredients were for, and talking about what you DIDN'T include. I don't have a lab coat or a stainless steel table or beakers, etc. (wish I did), but now I feel like I could make a test batch of shampoo if I wanted to. I don't have a chemistry background (assume you do), but I now understand all the basic elements.
Thanks! I love the internet! Spent my first 35 years without it (some people really are that old) but now I don't know how we lived without it. Cheers!
I’m an 18 year old male and you inspired me to make my own hair care line. I appreciate you!
That’s amazing 😻 💗
Good luck!! 💕
Can you do a video showing all your equipment you would need in general? Is it better to invest in equipment first? And suggested equipment if youre on a budget.. things like that, btw thank you for the information !
Polyquaternium 10 is notorious for building up in the scalp and hair. You would need to use a sulfate shampoo at once a week to get rid of build up. As for the other wash days, you can use a sulfate free shampoo (which is best).
AOS removes polyquaternium 10, as do sulfates.
I LITERALLY LOVE YOU. i have a small business at 11 years old. I do hair and make hair products on instagram. I wanted to make a cowash, shampoo andconditiner line and this helped. Thank you.
Thank you so much for watching, you’ll do amazing! I’m rooting for you 😊
How do you make hair products?? Are you a chemistry major? Where do you get your formulations?
@@blahblahbye2787 Research and study, that's how you will learn.
You are seriously amazing! I wish you all the best, I’m so happy I found your channel. Keep doing what you’re doing you have a gift.
It’s so dope that you’re doing this I just created my own shampoo and conditioner!!!!
Thanks so much for watching! Congrats, I know it's awesome! :)
Prolific Gabrielle thank you. Testing it out now. I just want to thank you for your time and creation. You inspired me and I just want to do great!! Have a success product and really help people.
It's so easy to make it professional ! When you learn phases and ingredients and how they work and chemistry and math its makes it so much easier.
@cyeeta Thomas which machine did you please use to mix the products?Because I don't have the machine she is using
Is it possible to measure each liquid separately instead of measuring it by pouring it into the large beaker that is already full? Wouldn’t it be more precise and come out exactly the same every time you make it?
Im happy I found you I was on your Instagram I use to buy your deep conditioner and was wondering what happened to you guess I have to binge watch your videos! I am also happy you are sharing this and offering private labeling I been wanting to make shampoo and conditioner for my brand and been scared because of ph balances trynna figure out what I wanna do at this point because its already alot making hair oil and body butters alone lol
Best video on shampoo making I have seen so far. Thank you so much
thank you so much it was so helpful you explain everything so well!! I was wondering, since testing the pH is important for every formula could you make a video on how to actually test it and how everything works out? (like how you figure out which range is good for which product)
Love that you kept your promise ! Very helpful video !
Bamboo extract is amazing most people dont realize how great it is for you hair and skin
Am so proud of you my Sister., I really enjoy.watching ypur.vidoes your are.a.blessing this.is so informative thank you keep on inspirering others .

Thanks!! Question: Why doesn't the PEG-150 Distillate remain thick? Once i add the surfactants to the water phase it turns into a very liquidy formula. What do I need to do to ensure it remains thick?
I understand PEG is a difficult ingredient to work with but there is no information online on how to use it.
New to the channel love how you explained everything and this is what I needed because my son keep asking me to add shampoo and conditioner to my items so this was a big help thanks so much
Am happy you didn't call it natural. All peg products are toxic and not natural. Thanks for sharing the sample formulation. You hv a kind heart. You will be a trustworthy businesswoman
Agreed!!!
PEG (polyethylene glycol) is NOT TOXIC (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyethylene_glycol) ETHYLENE GLYCOL is TOXIC and used in anti-freeze these chemicals are are similar but not the same.
@@jimbearone It’s almost impossible to try to convince some people. Not only have people been brainwashed but they are hung out to try at this point. It’s all marketing.
Such a nice video about shampoo.
Plz try to show the how the professional hair color will be prepared and manufacturing 👍
Pls show how to make conditioner
I love how you get right to the point!
Thank you I try lol

Thank you so much for sharing, you are so generous and I have learned so much from your lab series. Please I would like to ask if you could suggest me what type of conditioning thickeners or moisturizing ingredients one can use in a mild shampoo for babies and kids?
GIRL!!! I’ve been looking for you!
If possible can you make a video on how to make master batch of a product? That would be so helpful and informative for many future cosmetic owners.
Hi, I guess you could use percentages. That is write down all ingredients with their grams then do a total of it all then convert each individual ingredient to a percentage. That way your formulation will work for small and huge banches
Thank you so much for this video. but do you mind sharing how much grams of water you used plz
I purchased the Ebook . Thank you for the help. How much water is used and will you be doing another shampoo recipe that can use all phases so we can see how it works as well thank you
How do you make shampoo? Where do you get your formulations/know how much to use?? Are you a chemistry major?? PLEASE ANSWER
Hi Gabrielle please l want to make my diy fermented rice conditioner for my hair. Please at what stage do l put the preservative, before or after fermentation. Thank you
Are these the same steps that can be used in natural shampoo? Can these ingredients be substituted for vegan? And last question what other mixers can be used to mix in the powder ingredients in the water because those mixers aren’t cheap? Thank you I’m excited to be a subbie
I love these videos so much!!! Thank you for sharing 🤗🤗
thank you for your time but i wanted to know how to make a large amount? im having issue with that
This is awesome, thank you sis. May I know where did you buy your beakers from? And will a hand mixer work just as well?
How much PEG 150 did you add? Didn't catch it, even in the transcript.
Hello, thank you so much for this video. I have a quesiton, at which moment did you heat the phase A and phase B because we cannot see. And at how many degrees did you heat the phases? Thank you very much
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, it is highly valued, you can tell us where you buy the ingredients to make the products, somewhere where you can buy everything, I am very excited to start forming my products
Hello, this video has been amazingly helpful, I just have a few questions. Polyquat-10 is positively charged so it ok to sub with Behentrimonium Chloride which is also positively charged? And does the charge of the conditioning agent have no effect on the surfactants? Also what could you provide the weight of the water without the beaker? Thanks so much
How to formulate crystal clear shampoo while using carrier oils
just wish it had more explanation of the chemistry involved. Good video for explaining general process. forgot to mention target pH you would need to measure though.
LOVE this so much!!! Does your lab make cosmetics? 💗✨
Yes we do!
It was helpful very much. Thank you.
Please can these steps and ingredients be used when make an African black soap shampoo? Would you advice it?
Thanks for your reply?
I'm trying to make a leave in hair lotion with that viscosity
How do you determine how much surfactants, emollients and preservative to add?
Is it based on the overall volume?
Hi Gabrielle, do you have to heat up/cook the Glycerine+ water+ poly 10+ PEG150 mixture?
I love your videos, they are very informative!
quick question could i use polyquaternium-7 instead of 10? Thank you in advance queen!❤❤
Where did you get your overhead mixer?
Glyceryl cococate helps to emulsify the oil and the water phase you plan to add, correct? Because I want to make a shampoo but my water and oil keeps separating. I was told to use poly Suga Mulse D9 but I don’t feel it’s good for heavier oils, such as olive oil, almond, etc.
What about an immersion blender would it mix well with an immersion blender or I have to only use the high sheer mixer ?
I love your content!! Do you know where I could find creative scents (other than essential oils) to add to diy shampoos conditioners and hair creams?
Bramble Berry, Essential Wholesale , Windy Point soap supply etc.
The items you use do you mind putting them in the description bar under your video??? I can hear you clearly but it’s hard to spell the word lol o be searching for the wrong word lol
so when you want to make shampoo that grows your hair you just do all the steps you did and add like growth oil or some?
Basically yes,the oils and the water are the essential ingredients for growing your hair and maintaining the length of the hair. Some form of protein is also needed.
I co own Foil salon in Colorado Springs Colorado and I’m very interested in just taking the next step and making our own products. I would love somebody to contact me. Would love to know about the process and pricing
Hi dear..what can be replaced for peg 7 glyceryl cocoate?is that the nly emulsifier used here??
You got me all upbeat over doing something like this thanks for sharing
I need help with peg 150 distearate. Iv now added 2% peg 150 to the surfactant phase that is heated to 60° but it still clumps. How do i work with the chemical
Miss, how can we thicken gooseberries, Chinaberry, Acacia concinna tonic/soup/shampoo?
Awesome video!
So well explained.
Would anyone know where I could buy a high shear mixer in Canada?
Thank you 😊
I’m making a shampoo.. different formula than this but maybe you can help... my glyceryl stearate didn’t dissolve. I don’t have a fancy mixer and my formula says to stir gently so idk if that’s why but do you know why it’s not dissolving? Also I put the recommended guar gum and it’s still watery.. can I add more guar gum some how after the fact?
Hi I have a few questions. Do this shampoo can be use in any hair? Where you can get the ingredients for the shampoo at? Do you need to have that machine to mixed the ingredients? Where I can get the full recipe for the shampoo? Tfs!!
can you use distilled water for manufacturing or does it have to be Deionized?
What are the percentages of this formula please.❤
How do you know how much oil to use?
I have no luck with peg 150 distearate. I use 2% and add it to my heated water phase but it clumps, why?
Would a blender for a kitchen work to blend the ingredients?
What can be used outside of glycerin. My hair dont like glycerin. Im gonna purchase your book!
Butylene glycol or dipropylene glycol can be an excellent alternative. 👍
@@christalburgess3013 thank u!

How you doing today... My name is Richard, & I was wondering how much water to a project I'm trying to do.. I have 40 4 ounce bottles, & I'm not real sure on the amount... I would really appreciate it if you help me with this dilemma, thank you
Really good and informative video. Thank you
Perfect shampoo
Please explain the significance of the ionic charge of surfactants. I am confused because I once read that like charges should be combined where the exceptionsa re amphoterics and non-ionics that can be combined with any other type. However, how are you able to combine xanthan gum with an anionic (which is negatively charged)? Do the rules change for certain types of cationics (polymers or quats)?
im confused too lol
wait what? did she use xanthan gum and what time stamp?
are any of these ingredients natural? And which would be safe for making a dog shampoo?
What’s a good ph meter for cosmetics and thicker formulation?
Please also mention name of every reactant that is used
Hi, I’m trying to place an order but it says it can calculate my shipping.
mam,,,I love u amazing content, im learning so much
If possible could you possibly put the name of the ingredients on the screen so we can actually write and spell everything correctly
Great idea.
Hey, love what you do its amazing, I'm starting my business and wanted to order the sample kits, when I went to pay it said that the system can not convert shipping cost, do you not ship to the UK? I did also email you
Why are the water and oil ingredients separated? What's the importance of that?
water quantity what ?
You are so amazing!!!.
