I made your recipe with a slight variation based on ingredients I had in my home. I basically used jojoba oil instead of glycerin , and used a homemade goat milk soap as the base. It took all of seven minutes to make. After three shampoos (I have long thick dreadllocks) my hair came out shiny, soft and so well-moisturized that I didn't need a conditioner. The lather was silky with small soft bubbles. Thanks for sharing such an excellent recipe, and for walking us through the steps. I am *done* overspending on expensive shampoos now that I can make them myself with flawless , customized results. I plan to make it fresh every time so I can avoid the preservatives.
I have been told so many times that African black soap shampoo does not need a preservative because of the alkaline. It won’t allow anything to grow in it. mold etc. cant live it. However Listening to this, it’s been to be safe than sorry. Plus there are natural preservatives we can use. Thank you for being so Informative. I love watching and learning from your videos
I'm litteraly sharing your videos to all my friends. We cannot hold for ourself all that golden information. We need to spread and share it as much as possible !
Elise,I have seen a lot of diys tutotial and your contents, stand out!...Girl, you are full of knowledge and you do a good job delivering it to newbies thank you.
This is the only properly informative video I’ve seen on this! Love it! will deffo try. thank you, you seem like you know exactly what you’re talking about :) subbed
Aww thank you so much Lea! Haha yeah there's so much information out there but I was hoping that highlighting the main components you need to look out for would help. I'm glad you like it! 😊
You are so beautiful! I've been looking for a channel like this for so long!! thank you so much I subscribed off the first video I watched. I love the videos you have, but I would also love to see a video about your natural hair care regimen. I've been trying to figure out how often I should wash my hair and different ways to keep it moisturized. You're curls are so pretty and your hair looks so healthy. I need some tips and I would love to have the hair products I use to be completely natural.
Wow thank you so much my lovely! I know how difficult it can be to get a haircare regime that actually works for you - especially if you're interested in using natural products so I'm glad that my channel might be of some help. I haven't done a full regimen yet - but I do have a video showing you how I apply my DIY hair growth spray & flaxseed-aloe hair gel in my wash routine: ruclips.net/video/yVxwu6f2UBo/видео.html I'll definitely be making more natural hair tutorials in the future too! Thanks for watching 😊💚
Hi Elise, would you able to put this black soap shampoo in the formulation section of your website? It would be so helpful because I want to add other ingredients and having it all in grams would be great. Thanks in advance.
Hi, thank you for the recipe! I am a bit confused about pH balancing soap - soap is alkaline and mixing it with acids would only cancel out the saponifying properties of soap? Or is that the goal? What would be the cleaning agent in that case?
Thank you! The amount of xanthan gum will depend on how thick a shampoo you want - I'd recommend starting at 1/8 teaspoon for the amount in this recipe - and adding more if necessary 😊
Awesome video. I tried to make this but it didn’t lather very well. If I want it to lather more what can I do? Also Where can I find the Xanthan gum? Can this shampoo be used on beards as well.
Is 5.5 too acidic for the shampoo? I ended up having to add more apple cider vinegar to adjust the ph is that pretty normal? Thanks so much I love your channel
i thank God i just fond your page. Content is amazing .Been searching for a natural shampoo procedure and i found it My dreadlocks are going to be happy.
I get my African black soap from Baraka Shea and my shea butter as well. Their products are amazing. Check them out when you have a chance. You're skin is beautiful btw! We need a skincare routine ASAP! Excellent video!
Great recipe, can't wait to try it as my current shampoo seems to dry out my scalp. Would be helpful if you said how many grams of soap you used for your soap dilute? Because the concentration of your dilute effects the amount of apple cider vinegar doesn't it?
Hi! I love the 2ay you do your videos and the way you explain everything, I love love love that! I have tried this recepy but my a Hair turned extremally oily. I basically pores the mix onto my scalp from a quite big container. Do you think that was the issue? I also used not peppermint but another essential oil instead.
Unfortunately I had the same issue. I have fine straight hair and the water in my region is quite hard. The result was oily hair that stuck together. The classical result of soap in combination with hard water, eventhough I have used more apple cider vinegar than proposed . 😕 Is there a way of solving the problem? I am thankful for any helpful advice here. 💐
Wait, I thought black soap couldn't be pH balanced because making a soap (which is alkaline by definition) acidic remove the soap properties and just turns it into a non cleansing fatty acid. Can you show a video of you actually using this shampoo to show that it works?
How did you learn all of this? Question two lol... I want to make for my kids how can I make it coloured safely? Food colouring? Natural colouring? 3..where do I buy all the products to go in the shampoo?
Thank you. Not sure if I'm doing it right but I poured lots apple cider vinegar in my shampoo mix and the color barely change. I poured to where there wasn't anymore suds! 😂.
Aw it's my pleasure! Not yet, but now that you mention it... I'll definitely put that on the list! lol. Thanks for the support hun, I'm so glad you liked the video 😊💚
Can we melt black soap with dove soap for body wash? I’m seeing all these girls from showing how to mix with whitening powders, so I decided to came here and check if you have any video, you r the only RUclips I trust in creams, butters, soaps and oils making
Love this recipe and all the natural goodness in it! I was thinking about the castor oil and jojoba oil added in...I am Italian with thick somewhat on the drier side hair but I'm still wondering if those oils would be too much for me? What do you think? Should I leave them out or put smaller amounts of them or replace them with something else?
Very useful video, the way u explain s so kind n adorable,. So beautifully explained. I have doubt, pls suggest that how much preservative can be added for 6months shelf life, for 1year shelf life n for 18months shelf life. Thank u in advance..
Hi Elise, thank you for your generosity in sharing the hair shampoo recipe. You mentioned adding Aloe Vera juice , is it the type we can buy from the supermart which can also be consumed?

Thnx 🙏🌷
How does this mixture stay together without an emulsifier?
Hello , this was great . where can we purchase the ingredients?
Top tip: check the acidity level of your apple cider vinegar, or you might be adding loads to get it to acidic!
Thank you for the awesome tutorial. If I wanted to use an emulsifier, what would I use and what would the proportions be?

Hi can you make a video showing a thicker version off this shampoo?
Hello is Castile soap healthy alternative to black soap?
Absolutely, it's a popular choice to use. It's a little higher on the pH scale but it's still a natural soap that you can use as a base for DIYs 😊
Read my mind!
This is amazing!
Um help please, it won't foam up and it leaves hair oily

There is a liquid form of African Black Soap already. Perhaps that could be used instead to eliminate the need for added water and preservatives.
