I will not reply anymore to Orthodox Christians who can't figure out that a short video is, well, short and thus, I can't explain much in a short. That's why I have put a link in the description to a video in which I explain my criticism of Orthodox Christianity in more details: ruclips.net/video/XaBG9C8s3oM/видео.html Unfortunately, that was not enough for Orthodox Christians, so I'm posting it here as well.
If you have any criticism of me, that's fine, but at least explain your criticism. One of the latest comments here states, "You are not telling the truth" and that's it. I know that Orthodox Christianity is all about putting your brains in the lap of theological mac daddies, but if you are going to try to criticize me, at least try to explain yourself.

Orthodoxy is all about slandering other religions and denominations:
      * Muslims: Only Islam is true, every other religion is fake and everybody else is an infidel.
      * "Jews": We are the chosen people, everybody else are goyim.
      * Catholics/Orthodox Christians: We follow the one true religion and we are the one true church, every other church is fake.
      * Jehovah Witnesses: Christ has returned in invisible form. Only the Watch Tower has got everything right as they are divine. All other Christian denominations are false and all other religions are especially false. Only we are going to heaven.
The orthoprax (me, Hindus, Buddhists, etc) are like, figure it out by yourself!

      Debunking eastern orthodox (youtube)
      I'm more blessed than mary
      Proof = Luke 11:27-28
27 And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, “Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!”
28 But He said, “More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”
In Luke 11:27 that random woman LITERALLY said Jesus your mother is Blessed, but are Lord Jesus LITERALLY said Believers are more Blessed than mary Amen.
      _
      CHRIST alone
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
ACTS 4:12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
There is only One Mediator between God and men, LORD Jesus Christ= 1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.
Hebrew 9:15 And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
Hebrew 12:24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.
Hebrew 8:6 But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.
Ephesians 2:18 For through Him we both have access by One Spirit to the Father
      John 15:5
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
      Colossians 1:19-20
19 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, 20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.
      _
      Work of God =
John 6:28 Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”
29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”
      _
1 Timothy 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach
Paul allows bishops to get marry, but catholic church goes against paul.
Now these eastern orthodoxes will give a Verses from 1 Corinthians7 to say that paul gave the advice to stay unmarried. But they will not tell you that the same chapter they quote says 1 Corinthians 7:28 "even if you do marry, you have not SINNED". The passage literally says "young women, young men" and a bishop is supposed to be a Church ELDER.
Christian should not cover their head 1 Corinthians 11:4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonors his head. ( The head of man is Lord Jesus Christ). So the priests and bishops should not cover their head.
Believers are Royal Priest 1 Peter 2:5,9. Revelation 1:6.
      _
      Jesus said Matthew 23:9
9 Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. The context is not calling pharisees, sadducees and PRIESTS father and teacher.
      _
Whenever a eastern orthodox argue about mary being the mother of God
Use this to defeat the argument.
Luke 8:21 But He answered and said to them, “My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.”
      Matthew 12:46-50
46 While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him. 47 Then one said to Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You.”
48 But He answered and said to the one who told Him, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?” 49 And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! 50 For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.”.
Mark 3:35 For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother.”
      John 19:26-27
26 When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!” 27 Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home. ( Jesus basically said John is the son of mary, and mary is the mother of John from that time onwards).
By the way sarah is the mother of all proof=Galatians 4:21-26.
      _
Music instruments are allowed for Christians
      Revelation 14:2
2 And I heard a voice from heaven, like the voice of many waters, and like the voice of loud thunder. And I heard the sound of harpists playing their harps.
      Revelation 5:8
8 Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
Jeremiah 31:4 (GOD speaking in this verse)
4 Again I will build you, and you shall be rebuilt,
      O virgin of Israel!
You shall again be adorned with your tambourines,
And shall go forth in the dances of those who rejoice.
Even in Heaven with their perfect voices they had instruments then why not us
      _
We should not pray to apostles
      Romans 1:25
25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
      Acts 10:25-26
25 As Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshiped him. 26 But Peter lifted him up, saying, “Stand up; I myself am also a man.”
      Acts 14:15
15 and saying, “Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men with the same nature as you, and preach to you that you should turn from these useless things to the living God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all things that are in them,
      Revelation 19:10
10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
      Revelation 22:8-9
8 Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things.
9 Then he said to me, “See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God."
      Colossians 2:18
18 Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
You cannot go to Father through saints nor mary, you can only go to the Father through Lord Jesus Christ= John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Ephesians 2:18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.
Holy Spirit intercedes for us=Romans 8:26
26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
      And CHRIST as well=Romans 8:34
34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.
      Hebrews 7:25
25 Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
It's Christ and Holy Spirit who intercedes for us not apostles
Even old Old Testament says Christ intercedes for us Isaiah 53:12
12 Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great,
And He shall divide the spoil with the strong,
Because He poured out His soul unto death,
And He was numbered with the transgressors,
And He bore the sin of many,
And made intercession for the transgressors.
      _
Humans when with Holy Spirit and apostolic succession still go wrong. And eastern orthodox is not immune to that
1)Peter was not perfect human nor was he a perfect disciple
2)He sank down while walking on water
3)Our Lord said to peter get behind me satan
4)Peter reject our Lord 3 times
5)Our Lord rebuked Peter for calling fire from heaven
6)Our Lord rebuked Peter when he cut of the soilders ear
7)Paul rebuked Peter for being hypocrite because he was acting different in front of Jews and different in front of gentiles.
      8) Moses messed up, and he was a important part of Bible ( that's why he never entered the promised land),
9)David messed up ( and he has the Holy Spirit),
      10)King Soloman messed up,
      11) Saul messed up and God regretted the decision (1 Samuel 15:10-11).
Hatrick (Saul then David then Soloman back to back messed up)
12)The apostles run away a day before Lord Jesus got locked up.
13)The early church messed up Rev 2:18-20, 1 Corinthians, Galatians.
      14) Apostle John when receiving Revelation worshiped an angel and the angel said "see you do not do that. Worship GOD" Revelation 22:8-9
      15) Paul and Barnabas both had a sharp disagreement on John Mark( Acts 15:36-41). And remember that both were Apostles filled with Holy Spirit.
      16) Church in Revelation 2:1-6 Lord Jesus Himself said to the church of Ephesus that "I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars" but guess what that church still had problems and Lord also pointed that out "Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love......" So as you can see Churches can do Biblical and unbiblical things at the some time.
If these great people could mess up, why do you think the catholic church wouldn't mess up.
      _
      Apostles are allowed to marry,
      1 Corinthians 9:1-5

Either you decide what Christianity is or you “stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us” and submit to the church that put the Bible you read together

@@benweidner1 I'm not using the Bible that the Church put together. I accept the Book of Enoch, for example, which the Catholic and Orthodox Churches don't. You don't have to accept me as an arbiter of anything. I'm not orthodox. I'm not going to tell you "this is the true way". That's not what I'm offering here. I'm saying that any form of orthodoxy is false because demanding that people accept unproven claims as facts and condemning them if they don't do so is just wrong. I'm offering an alternative way: I will tell you what I believe to be authentic Christianity and you can decide for yourself if that's true and if what I'm saying has any value for you. Isn't that better than what your church offers you? Check out my non-short videos (especially the one about incarnation, karma and which religion is true) and decide for yourself.

@@OrthopraxChristianity No, because you ARE in effect saying that you are the arbiter of what is authentic Christianity by claiming to be spreading it. Orthodoxy does not claim to condemn anyone and it never claims that God’s grace is constrained by the church. But you must ask yourself, if you lived in the year 200AD and you said the things you are saying now, would you have been recognized as Christian, apart from the Bishops and tradition of the visible church? The answer is no, you would not be. So whatever you are trying to spread may be your unique ideas, but it’s not Christianity - historically, doctrinally, and practically. You might as well become a buddhist if it suits you. The earliest Christian writings, written by men who were taught by the apostles, completely reject your approach. So either you are right and they are wrong or vice versa. I will let you decide if you are more correct than someone who received direct teaching and tradition from the disciples.

@@benweidner1 You are looking at this through orthodox eyes. If I lived in the year 200AD and I said the things that I'm now saying, "would you have been recognized as Christian" you ask. Well, that's a good example of where it goes wrong with orthodox thinking. I don't care about being recognized by other churches/institutions. See, that's important in your denomination. You believe that once Christianity arrived in the Roman Empire and the church was founded, there were all these guys (the Church Fathers) who did the homework for you. You trust them to have done a good job. I don't. I explain that in my non-short videos all the time. When Jesus began His ministry, He was opposed by the Church Fathers of His time, the Pharisees (I know, the Church Fathers weren't as bad as the Pharisees but it's the same idea). He didn't care about being recognized by them.

And there were many gentile converts besides greeks in the time of the apostles. Paul's letter to the Romans was written to the church of Rome. The book of Acts of Apostles mentions Cornelius a centurion of an Italian legion who converted with his family and friends. The Catholic religion was inculturated by all the ethnic groups that converted to it. There was no Orthodox church until after the greek schism. And there is not only one Orthodox church but seventeen separate ones. The Orthodox churches are schismatic and heretical.

@@anthonypuccetti8779Hello my friend I hope all is well. First off I’d like to say that the “seventeen churches” saying are just the synods that are united under Communion with each other. These synods are successors of the Apostles/Bishops who died and controlled the area. These Bishops are indeed equals and under Christ the High Bishop, St. Peter’s synod also knows as the Patriarchate of Rome was in the time the “First Among Equals” though not superior to the other Bishops in the Roman Empire. Like the Orthodox Catholic Church today we see the successors of the Apostles all under the Authority of Christ so therefore they are one. The Orthodox Catholic Church works in the same way it worked in the Apostolic Period. It was when the Roman Patriarchate decided to leave and become schismatic in 1054 over Roman Legitimacy Between the Holy Roman Empire and the Eastern Roman Empire. Because of that the Roman Church decided to leave caused massive change within the Roman Church, now onto heresies. The most notable heresies in the Roman Church is the Filioque which has changed the equality of the Holy Trinity to have two causes instead of the one needed cause for equal Authority and Submission which we see in the Church today, Papal Supremacy is recent heresy that was added in 1870 to further the “Papal Primacy” This leads the Roman Church to suffer from Popes who have had heresy spread like Pope Honorius.

Where there is offence, let me bring pardon.
Where there is discord, let me bring union.
Where there is error, let me bring truth.
Where there is doubt, let me bring faith.
Where there is despair, let me bring hope.
Where there is darkness, let me bring Your light.
Where there is sadness, let me bring joy.
O LORD, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that one receives,
it is in self-forgetting that one finds,

I want to start out by saying that I can sympathize with what you are saying. I grew up going to an Orthodox Church and attended one my whole life and the church is severely lacking in education. The Orthodox Church’s liturgy, scriptures, and theology are so deep and require some explanation in order to understand and even to benefit from them properly. I also saw that most people in the churches around me knew nothing about their faith. Most treated it as an ethnic-social club.
I was influenced by Protestantism and started attending both an Orthodox and Protestant church (they called themselves “non-denominational” though). After some serious study and prayer I concluded that the purest and most true form of Christianity is Orthodoxy. Needless to stay I never attended another non-Orthodox church again.
The Saints are our teachers and many of their writings have been translated for all to read. You can’t judge Orthodoxy by it’s people or it’s lack of education. You must judge Orthodoxy by what defines it: it’s history, councils, and saints. Study the commentaries of the church fathers and you’ll see that their explanations of scripture is far deeper and truer than any other denomination’s interpretation. Don’t be led away from the true church because some of its attendants don’t take it seriously. It is true gold that takes some effort to uncover and many born into it take it for granted.

One thing I think this gets quite right, in general the Orthodox churches have a bad record when it comes to independence from political power and fulfilling the spiritual need of their faithful vs the interests of the states (I'm not saying the Christian denominations in the west are so very superior or have much moral high ground, they learnt the lesson only after many centuries of violence, intolerance and hate: but in the end we learned).
For example after Peter the Great the Russian Orthodox church was turned into little more than a subservient branch of the autocracy. They preached obedience, silence, loyalty to the State as much as they preached the Christian message (which can be interpreted as contrary to that).
And as we can see today in the context of the war of aggression against Ukraine, this abject submission continues today still.
That explains why there was such a proliferation of sects in 19th century Russia: in a way they were the answer from the supply side of the spirituality market to the enormous demands of the Russian people which were not being met by the official religious institutions.

For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and one's foes will be members of one's own household". The true christian life is that of longsuffering and struggle, not that of bliss and earthly prosperity. The icons reflect the orthodox phronema and the lives of our saints. This does not mean that joy isn't a part of a christian life, but it's not our north, we don't pursue happiness, we pursue deification (theosis).

That sounds to me like the proper Orthodox Christian explanation. You have quoted a few verses from Matthew 10. Jews were expecting the Messiah to come and rescue them from Roman occupation, but with Jesus they got much of the opposite of what they were expecting. It was not yet time. The disciples were expecting to become princes but Jesus was in fact telling them that they will be persecuted instead. That is also what is happening (or will happen) to us, but we must overcome it.

I heard somebody say they paint with neutral expression. And when you pray the neutral expression is a template for the prayer that changes with your conversation to the one your praying too. So for example before I was orthodox I got the Amazon smiling Jesus. And it was weird to pray to that icon when my son had cancer. So I think they go for neutral so it’s joy when I need joy and grief when I need grief. The Holy Spirit makes glad the sorrowful heart but the cross is also suffering an too deny oneself and accept the huge responsibility of Christianity.
