    I’m black and was born to protestantism. Didn’t take my faith seriously until my mom converted to Islam when I was young and my step father tried to convert me (not forcefully).
    At some point I got into history and bumped into orthodoxy. Studied it for about a year, found a church and learned from them for another year until I decided to become a catechumen a couple months ago.
    Orthodoxy helped me fully understand God and his love for us and that motivated me to better my life and continue to learn more.

      God said in Quran about Jesus (peace be upon him ):
      " And [mention] when the angels said, "O Mary, indeed God has chosen you and purified you and chosen you above the women of the worlds. O Mary, be devoutly obedient to your Lord and prostrate and bow with those who bow [in prayer]."(Quran 3:42-43 )
      " [And mention] when the angels said, “O Mary, indeed God gives you good tidings of a word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary - distinguished in this world and the Hereafter and among those brought near [to God ].
      He will speak to the people in the cradle and in maturity and will be of the righteous. She said, "My Lord, how will I have a child when no man has touched me?" [The angel] said, "Such is God ; He creates what He wills.
      When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, 'Be,' and it is. He will teach him the Scripture and wisdom, the Torah and the Gospel, And [make him] a messenger to the Children of Israel, [who will say], 'Indeed I have come to you with a sign from your Lord in that I design for you from clay [that which is] like the form of a bird, then I breathe into it and it becomes a bird by permission of God.(Quran 03:45-49)
      "And [beware the Day] when God will say, "O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people, 'Take me and my mother as deities besides God ?'" He will say, "Exalted are You! It was not for me to say that to which I have no right. If I had said it, You would have known it. You know what is within myself, and I do not know what is within Yourself. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen. I told them only what You commanded me to: “Worship God, my Lord and your Lord.” I was a witness over them during my time among them. Ever since You took my soul, You alone have been the watcher over them: You are witness to all things."(Quran 5:116-117)

      Not trying to be mean, but If you are saying that you are a member of the "Oriental Orthodox" Ethiopian Church, then you're not really an Orthodox Christian. The so-called "Oriental Orthodox" are a collection of Churches that rejected the Holy Ecumenical Council of Chalcedon (AD 451) and severed themselves from the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, aka the Orthodox Catholic Church, otherwise known colloquially as the eastern Orthodox Church. Come to Christ's one Church and receive the fullness of the faith. If, on the other hand, you are a member of the eastern Orthodox Church, then disregard my comment.

      Denominations aren't biblical we are one body of Christ everyone all believers,❤🎉 Jesus didn't found Orthodox, or Catholic or Protestant churches theres none that have all the truth and others that have little, the truth is not found in Thw Church its found through Jesus and God's word and the only thing that the word states that Jesus said is that he formed ONE CHURCH ONE BODY of Christ. With all his believers all who believe in Jesus Christ Denominations are put forth to separate you and to draw you away from God DO NOT BE DECEIVED!❤ My brothers and sisters let me share the word of the Lord;
      The Lord has said, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand” (Matthew 12:25).
      In vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.'
      ” Acts 2:47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved
      Christ built only one church (Matthew 16:18; [18] And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it. [ONE SINGULAR] the church of Christ! Which is;
      Ephesians 1:22-23 and Colossians 1:24: “[H]e has put all things under his feet and has made him the head over all things for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.”
      1 Corinthians 12:13 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body-whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free-and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
      1 Corinthians 1:10 - Now I urge you, brothers, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you should all speak in agreement and that there should be no divisions among you, but that you may be completely united in the same mind and in the same line of thought.
      before He was crucified, Jesus prayed “Holy Father, keep them in Your name, …that they may be one, even as We are one” (John 17:11).
      Do not be led astray ask the Holy Spirit to convict you where necessary and or to guide you on how to read this but know that denominations aren't in the bible and are a creation of Man one that's caused war, death, division just like it did to the pharisees and the saducees the Jews and gentiles they all thought the other was wrong or right but Jesus our Lord addressed them all the same cause like his word says rain pours on the good and evil on the jew and the gentile don't follow denomination follow Jesus follow his word He is the truth and the enemy will set you astray coming from a former denominationee? Lol Idk if thats a word but God bless you❤😊

      @borislavkrstic6366 4 месяца назад +2

      @@wanitalll The very word denomination, that is, division, means that something, which was one, unique, whole, was divided. Divisions were not made by God but by people with the help of fallen angels. This struggle of truth and lies, good and evil has been going on since time immemorial. I am convinced that everything is true, and that all God's laws, despite all the distractions, have seen the light of day. But also, many falsehoods, untruths and lies are embedded in many scriptures and holy books. Second, I believe that most of us are born with an innate ability to distinguish God's laws from those that do not come from God. But the fallen angel and his demons are highly intelligent and skilled manipulators and masters of deception. All misunderstandings, all divisions, bigotry, hatred and conflicts originate from there. With God's permission, of course, because it is not possible otherwise. God knows why, and we can only guess. But what is certain, we all know, even subconsciously, what is good, just, and what is evil. It is up to each of us which way to go.

      My brother/sister, I know the condition of the Protestant churches in the west may be bad. But we shouldn't see people to follow Christ. We should put our eyes only on Christ whom holds the only truth. Of course orthodox churches are gorgeous and beautiful. But beauty won't get you to heaven. Only the full work of Christ will, which the orthodox church failed to teach.
      There are a lot of activities in the orthodox "church" which are against the gosple that Paul and the apostles preached. These activities are cursed and are activities which the devil loves.
      So don't be deceived by beauty, even satan himself can be beautiful than the orthodox church.

My wife, after a couple of miracles since her conversion, has by the Grace of God, been an Orthodox teacher for some 40 years and a producer of countless books of Orthodox services in transliterated Greek and the English translation. We can't call ourselves Christians if we are not in the Orthodox Church. Its just a fact I had to get over in my journey of learning the history of Christianity and the Church and Schism and post Schism churches most of us were raised in. Once you and I are in the church then we can call ourselves Christians. Until then we are aware of the Holy Spirit and Christ, but not yet in the fold. My mother did not like hearing that at all, and I don't expect you to either. I broke it down to her in car terms. Henry Ford created the the first car the Model T(in this case its the Orthodox Church), Chevy DID NOT(Chevy being Catholicism and all other denominations after the Schism), you would not take that Ford emblem and stick it on a Chevy and call it a Ford. Get it? But that is the truth and what all my research over the last two years has got me to except. When I have the means of travel again I will start to look for a Orthodox Church in my State and hopefully get to start attending. Go check out Orthodox Ethos and Living Orthodox YT Channels they are fully legit and do respond to your comments most of the time.

      I kind of wonder if things like the suppression of Christianity in the Soviet Union, along with the cold war and all the ideological/political conflicts between the Soviet Union and the West are what stifled the spread of the Orthodox Church for so long (at least in North America), given that the Orthodox Church primarily existed in locations under Soviet rule. If so, that's really quite sad, but it's really interesting to see more and more people gaining interest in the Orthodox Church now, including myself. I think a major reason why it's happening now is because too many churches in the West have become so lukewarm or even heretical in adopting left wing extremism, that they barely have anything substantial left to offer.

I'm sure through many years of his prayers, I'm finding myself growing closer to Orthodoxy over the years. I have been a protestant Christian my whole life, and have recently been feeling this very deep and intense calling from the Holy Spirit to pursue Holiness in everyday life. My desire to honor God is greater than my desire to simply live under Grace. Grace is so so so important, so amazing... and perhaps it is the depth of that awe of His Grace that I'm now feeling called to respond to Him, through living and expressing my faith in a more traditional and reverent way.

      There are 3 different fasting periods in the year, before Christmas, before Easter and 15 days before August 15th, I only fast the 50 or so days before Easter which is also the strictest, so yes, there I do follow the fasting rules. During the year we also fast every Wednesday and Friday (no meat those days and for those who can no dairy, eggs, etc.) Sorry there is a lot more to your question and not easy to answer here. I do not wear a head covering in church although a lot of the older women do. This can be observed more in Russia, Serbia, Romania.@@mamak4969

      Food for thought, Olivia, bearing in mind I'm Catholic but with sympathies for Traditionalist Catholicism and Orthodoxy (both Eastern & Oriental), the Greek Orthodox Church and Russian Orthodox Church have broke communion with one another. Why? Well...
      Apparently the Patriarch of the Greek Orthodox Church (possibly under the influence of the CIA to wage war against Russia and its Christians) has declared himself de facto "Pope" so-to-speak of ALL Orthodox ethnic Churches across Earth including of the Russians (Orthodox). Furthermore, apparently the Greek Orthodox Patriarch is claiming the right to seize all Russian Orthodox Church properties across planet Earth.
      This is what I heard from a Russian Orthodox Priest on RUclips saying and explaining as parts of the reasons the Greeks and Russians have broke communion with one another.
      I suspect--can't know for certain--that the CIA and Globalist like J_wish George Soros are calling shots or influencers within the Catholic Church. I'm not a fan of Pope Francis. But then there are a number of Bishops and Cardinals in the Catholic Church like him.

    I am eastern European (Moldova, raised orthodox) where the society nowadays is getting further from church and God in general, where they speak only bad things about orthodoxs and make fun of them (even though they also were raised as, but they don't believe in God in general). It was very hard for me to find God in this environment, where at school if you said you pray, you would be considered a weirdo. I wanted to start reading the Bible, just to be informed, because many people talk bad about It, without even reading a verse even. But half a year ago I started asking myself more and more about God and I rembember one day before sleep asking myself: "Does God really exist? What if not?!" and the same night He appeared in my dream. That is not a coincidence for sure.

      Just a warning, while bishop Mari is a great teacher, he belonged to a church that is considered heretical, the Assyrian church of the east for promoting Nestorianism. Mar Mari himself was also excommunicated by that church, and started his own church and appointed himself bishop.

      @@AbigailOrtiz-ml3ib Allegations? Those things are facts. The church he was in before is the Assyrian church of the east and he was excommunicated. He then founded his own church in Australia. This is all facts, they are even in wikipedia ffs

      @@sakispdsw He believes that Jesus is human and divine. 100% of both. That is why he is the perfect lamb. the only one qualified to pay for our sins with his blood. because he is both man and yet he is God. He over came the temptations of sin (the flesh) because only God could do that (his divinity). So he is both because no human in history, before or after Him could ever pay for our sins. Done.
      Bishop Mari Mari believes in the true nature of Christ. SO Inconclusion I stand by my brother in Christ, because at the end of the day I wasnt in Assyria, I dont know what happened there. People are kicked out of church all the time, and that does not reflect on their character or their beliefs. AS LONG AS IT'S JESUS CHRIST WHO WAS BORN, LIVED THE SINLESS LIFE, DIED, ROSE AGAIN AND IS RETURNING FOR HIS BRIDE THAT HE'S PREACHING, i will stand by my brother in Christ. Much love
