I was baptized and christmated into the Orthodox Church in 2011.☦️ I’ve been a believer my whole life, as I grew up in the Seventh Day Adventist church - the church of my parents. I met my husband in 2006, and he was already a convert to Orthodoxy. I spent many years learning and studying the history of the true church of Christ until I became a Catechumen and eventually baptized as an Orthodox Christian.
For anyone seeking, may the Holy Spirt guide you and help your heart accept the true teachings of Jesus Christ. It’s a journey of the soul and each of us finds the our to God in His holy and perfect time. The fullness of the Orthodox practice is an experience that cannot be described by words alone. This video is beautifully and eloquently presented, very well explained for newcomers or searchers. Thank you sister in Christ for sharing your faith with the world, God bless you!! 💜💜💜

I am an Ethiopian Orthodox Christian. It is a blessing to see a-lot of people as an Orthodox Christian. ❤❤❤
Not trying to be mean, but If you are saying that you are a member of the "Oriental Orthodox" Ethiopian Church, then you're not really an Orthodox Christian. The so-called "Oriental Orthodox" are a collection of Churches that rejected the Holy Ecumenical Council of Chalcedon (AD 451) and severed themselves from the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, aka the Orthodox Catholic Church, otherwise known colloquially as the eastern Orthodox Church. Come to Christ's one Church and receive the fullness of the faith. If, on the other hand, you are a member of the eastern Orthodox Church, then disregard my comment.
Thanks you much for this great information and God bless you all.

@@FatherSonSpirit1 I know that in some countries of Africa there are very lively parishes. Last September I met the bishop of Kongo and he was a delight! Perhaps there is an Orthodox Church near you? Anyway, our Lord is Merciful and if you ask Him He will send you an answer.
@@FatherSonSpirit1 Very sorry for the late reply, I know it's long overdue. Well that depends on your starting point and your background. Coming from a Baptist background myself, I was fascinated by the history but struggled with certain things like Venerating Mary and Icons.
Read The Orthodox Church by Timothy (Kallistos) Ware. It's explains a lot of the history and details how certain practices formed in the early church. From there I would just make sure to constantly attend liturgy and speak as much with church elders as possible. God Bless you brother 🙏.
I’m black and was born to protestantism. Didn’t take my faith seriously until my mom converted to Islam when I was young and my step father tried to convert me (not forcefully).
At some point I got into history and bumped into orthodoxy. Studied it for about a year, found a church and learned from them for another year until I decided to become a catechumen a couple months ago.
Orthodoxy helped me fully understand God and his love for us and that motivated me to better my life and continue to learn more.

" And [mention] when the angels said, "O Mary, indeed God has chosen you and purified you and chosen you above the women of the worlds. O Mary, be devoutly obedient to your Lord and prostrate and bow with those who bow [in prayer]."(Quran 3:42-43 )
" [And mention] when the angels said, “O Mary, indeed God gives you good tidings of a word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary - distinguished in this world and the Hereafter and among those brought near [to God ].
He will speak to the people in the cradle and in maturity and will be of the righteous. She said, "My Lord, how will I have a child when no man has touched me?" [The angel] said, "Such is God ; He creates what He wills.
When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, 'Be,' and it is. He will teach him the Scripture and wisdom, the Torah and the Gospel, And [make him] a messenger to the Children of Israel, [who will say], 'Indeed I have come to you with a sign from your Lord in that I design for you from clay [that which is] like the form of a bird, then I breathe into it and it becomes a bird by permission of God.(Quran 03:45-49)
"And [beware the Day] when God will say, "O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people, 'Take me and my mother as deities besides God ?'" He will say, "Exalted are You! It was not for me to say that to which I have no right. If I had said it, You would have known it. You know what is within myself, and I do not know what is within Yourself. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen. I told them only what You commanded me to: “Worship God, my Lord and your Lord.” I was a witness over them during my time among them. Ever since You took my soul, You alone have been the watcher over them: You are witness to all things."(Quran 5:116-117)

I am eastern European (Moldova, raised orthodox) where the society nowadays is getting further from church and God in general, where they speak only bad things about orthodoxs and make fun of them (even though they also were raised as, but they don't believe in God in general). It was very hard for me to find God in this environment, where at school if you said you pray, you would be considered a weirdo. I wanted to start reading the Bible, just to be informed, because many people talk bad about It, without even reading a verse even. But half a year ago I started asking myself more and more about God and I rembember one day before sleep asking myself: "Does God really exist? What if not?!" and the same night He appeared in my dream. That is not a coincidence for sure.
Same in Russia. If you want to lose your friends tell them that you belive in God and explore Bible((

I was raised baptist/nondenominational and I just recently started going to an orthodox church. I only found out about the orthodox church a few weeks ago and its truely a shame that more Americans don't know about her. I had been feeling like I was missing something for a long time and the only way I can describe the feeling is like finally getting drink of water after wondering in the desert for days. I'm so grateful the Lord has lead me to the church He built❤
Wow, I feel like I can really relate to that. When I first rededicated my life to Jesus as an adult after having been raised as a non-denominational Christian, I actually tried to combine Christianity with paganism and eventually realized that that does not work. At the same time, I have never really been able to shake the feeling that there is more to practicing true, personal, Biblical spirituality than just reading the Bible, praying and singing worship songs. I am beginning to wonder if this is it.
If you don't mind me asking, how did you come to find out about this?
God bless
@@annaspeaksout2964 I'm in the same boat, in a way. I left the Protestant church 5 years ago for many, many reasons one of them being that it felt spiritually dead to me. There were always a lot of emotions, but no true mysticism. I've dabbled in "spiritual" practices since, I guess some you could consider some pagan. I'm still interested in learning more about the beliefs of our ancestors before conversion. However, I continue feeling drawn to Orthodoxy despite not considering myself a Christian any longer. It feels truer than any understanding of Christianity I have known, and feels like it answers a lot of the missing pieces I felt within Protestantism.

St Ireneaus (Disciple of John the apostle) in his book Against Heresies (Book III, Chapter 3) stated: …by indicating that tradition derived from the apostles, of the very great, the very ancient, and universally known Church founded and organized at Rome by the two most glorious apostles, Peter and Paul; as also [by pointing out] the faith preached to men, which comes down to our time by means of the successions of the bishops. For it is a matter of necessity that every Church should agree with this Church, on account of its preeminent authority…
You shouldn’t leave the Catholic faith but read the church fathers and history of Christianity in the first and second century. Also, Jesus said: Matthew 16:18
And I tell you, you are Peter (rock) and on this rock(Peter) I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it
Amen! and you see now the disunity amongst Orthodox where the Russians and Ukrainians, both predominantly Orthodox, are killing each other over politics. That is far from unity and impartiality. You should not be killing your own brothers and sisters in Christ! This is a big reason I chose to remain Catholic. @@lucyangeles
Please do not be mislead by this lady. She speaks many mistruths about the Catholic Church. Please actually learn about the Catholic faith. Look at Michael lofton’s, former orthodox, response to this video on reason and theology. There are so many misunderstandings about Catholicism even by Catholics.
I was brought up in the protestant church but I am becoming much more aware of the beauty, truthfulness and faithfulness of the Orthodox Church. God bless you sister
God bless you 😃
She doesn’t know what she’s talking about. She hasn’t read the source material which is obvious and regurgitating talking points she’s heard without actually knowing the issues. Like using MT 18:18 which is a proof text for the papacy not Orthodoxy.
She’s pretty bad
My brother/sister, I know the condition of the Protestant churches in the west may be bad. But we shouldn't see people to follow Christ. We should put our eyes only on Christ whom holds the only truth. Of course orthodox churches are gorgeous and beautiful. But beauty won't get you to heaven. Only the full work of Christ will, which the orthodox church failed to teach.
There are a lot of activities in the orthodox "church" which are against the gosple that Paul and the apostles preached. These activities are cursed and are activities which the devil loves.
So don't be deceived by beauty, even satan himself can be beautiful than the orthodox church.
Don't drift away from the word of God which is the Truth.
@@JasmyneTheodoraDear sister, that is a very good explanation, but the first time Orthodoxy and Catholicism were divided was in 451 AD, not 1054 AD, and it is called the Council of Chalcedon. They were separated into Roman Catholicism and Oriental Orthodoxy. In 1054 AD, Catholicism was divided into Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy.

God bless you Jasmyne! You're doing an amazing work ❤
I kind of wonder if things like the suppression of Christianity in the Soviet Union, along with the cold war and all the ideological/political conflicts between the Soviet Union and the West are what stifled the spread of the Orthodox Church for so long (at least in North America), given that the Orthodox Church primarily existed in locations under Soviet rule. If so, that's really quite sad, but it's really interesting to see more and more people gaining interest in the Orthodox Church now, including myself. I think a major reason why it's happening now is because too many churches in the West have become so lukewarm or even heretical in adopting left wing extremism, that they barely have anything substantial left to offer.
@JadestonePony the church thrives under persecution. It's about quality, not quantity. Although, I'd love to see a massive conversion to the Orthodox Church. I'm a convert, maybe it's happening now.

We can't call ourselves Christians if we are not in the Orthodox Church. Its just a fact I had to get over in my journey of learning the history of Christianity and the Church and Schism and post Schism churches most of us were raised in. Once you and I are in the church then we can call ourselves Christians. Until then we are aware of the Holy Spirit and Christ, but not yet in the fold. My mother did not like hearing that at all, and I don't expect you to either. I broke it down to her in car terms. Henry Ford created the the first car the Model T(in this case its the Orthodox Church), Chevy DID NOT(Chevy being Catholicism and all other denominations after the Schism), you would not take that Ford emblem and stick it on a Chevy and call it a Ford. Get it? But that is the truth and what all my research over the last two years has got me to except. When I have the means of travel again I will start to look for a Orthodox Church in my State and hopefully get to start attending. Go check out Orthodox Ethos and Living Orthodox YT Channels they are fully legit and do respond to your comments most of the time.

I just subscribed to your channel!
What do you think about the other oriental orthodoxes, like the eritreans and copts. Also the easterns. Im genuinely curious to see the differences between churches in the same denomination, and how different church members see their church.
I just paused the video right before the 17-minute mark. So far I have learned so much more from this one video about orthodoxy then I have another videos.
It is so thorough and concise- Thank you so much!
I am leaving protestantism behind and converting to Orthodox Christianity.

Your observation that many Protestants emphasize being saved from the penalty of sin while Orthodoxy emphasizes being saved from sin itself is spot on. I’m not Orthodox yet but was initially drawn to it for this very reason.

Hi there. I noticed you are a young potential covert like me (I'm 16). I'm curious where are you from and how were you first exposed to Orthodoxy?
@@Anchorarms7 hi! i’m from the united states but my mother is from the philippines (my dad is american with western & northern european background.) so i was not only raised with a mix of two cultures, but i was raised catholic because of my mothers background. i was exposed to orthodoxy because my boyfriend was born and raised under the orthodox church (his dads side are italian catholics but his moms side are english/british orthodox converts.) so i was very curious about learning about the orthodox church. as i began to learn more and more, the more i realize i agree with its theology and many other aspects. plus, a lot of the beliefs combatted the issues i have with catholicism/the catholic church and are actually perspectives i hold. i also love the lifestyle that the orthodox church promotes, especially that i am a girl who values modesty, family, femininity, humility, kindness to everyone, and generally living a holy life, plus many other things. i feel like not only has Orthodoxy made me feel more comfortable having a relationship with the Lord, it helps me prioritize who i should be as a woman. i am very glad i am on this path and i could never thank God enough for accepting me in His arms again!
You are more than welcome to come to Orthodoxy sister. May God bless you on your journey.

i recently started my conversion to orthodoxy from Mormonism and I'm so happy because orthodoxy lines up completely with church history ☦
I am Serbian Orthodox. Excellent video and thank you for spreading our beautiful and truthful faith. God bless
I hope you make more orthodox videos. I was first introduced to the term orthodox through your conversion video a year ago. Coincidentally, I had a friend of mine convert to orthodoxy during that time. I had began reading through the entire Bible that year and really struggled with the Protestant view of solo scriptura. Because of your video and my friend, I began looking into the orthodox view of scripture. I am still mostly confused, but I have began doing my own research on church history and I am currently drawn to orthodoxy.
So glad to hear it. I definitely will be making more Orthodoxy videos!
Please look at the Catholic Church which I’ve found to be the true church of Christ. Orthodox hopefully will come back into full communion with Rome. But the truth is Christ instituted the Catholic Church with Peter as the first pope. You should look more into this, read the ecumenical councils. Michael loftons channel reason and theology also points out the many errors and misunderstandings she holds. He is a former Orthodox.
Go to an orthodox church, stay for coffee hour and talk to the priest. I suggest getting an orthodox study Bible it really helps me.

Thank you for making such an informative video! I learned a lot.
I am very blessed that my dad found the Greek Orthodox Church about 10 years ago, although I did not join the church with him at the time. I'm sure through many years of his prayers, I'm finding myself growing closer to Orthodoxy over the years. I have been a protestant Christian my whole life, and have recently been feeling this very deep and intense calling from the Holy Spirit to pursue Holiness in everyday life. My desire to honor God is greater than my desire to simply live under Grace. Grace is so so so important, so amazing... and perhaps it is the depth of that awe of His Grace that I'm now feeling called to respond to Him, through living and expressing my faith in a more traditional and reverent way.
Ancient Christianity is much more vast than people give credit for. It really is such a shame, that I allowed myself as a child and teenager to forget it all, but I embraced Orthodoxy for myself and you are partly the reason for it. I truly hope to see more videos about orthodoxy and Christianity in general in the future as I don’t feel like we will ever have enough content especially from the orthodox perspective. Really really excited to watch more.
Thank you so much for your support and these kind words!
The Catholic Church is just as ancient. This lady speaks so many mistruths about God’s true church and has not read the ecumenical councils.
Genuine curious question:
Do orthodox believe genuine hearted believers who have not yet (or maybe ever) found their way to an Orthodox Church will be saved based on their genuine confession of Jesus and *true fruit* of works to show for their faith?
Also: when you say saved, do you mean condemned to hell versus not condemned? Or do you mean what Protestants would call “sanctified”?
@@carlykamps411 To your first question, I will quote "We know where the Holy Spirit is. We cannot say where He is not."
To your second, my best understanding so far is that Salvation in Orthodoxy is much more akin to the Protestant concept of sanctification, yes. There is a great book that talks about the difference in how the same terms are used between Orthodox, Protestant, and Roman Catholic: Know the Faith by Father Michael Shanbour if you want to know more. Orthodoxy and Heterodoxy by Father Andrew Stephen Damanik is another good one.

Just a warning, while bishop Mari is a great teacher, he belonged to a church that is considered heretical, the Assyrian church of the east for promoting Nestorianism. Mar Mari himself was also excommunicated by that church, and started his own church and appointed himself bishop.

Food for thought, Olivia, bearing in mind I'm Catholic but with sympathies for Traditionalist Catholicism and Orthodoxy (both Eastern & Oriental), the Greek Orthodox Church and Russian Orthodox Church have broke communion with one another. Why? Well...
Apparently the Patriarch of the Greek Orthodox Church (possibly under the influence of the CIA to wage war against Russia and its Christians) has declared himself de facto "Pope" so-to-speak of ALL Orthodox ethnic Churches across Earth including of the Russians (Orthodox). Furthermore, apparently the Greek Orthodox Patriarch is claiming the right to seize all Russian Orthodox Church properties across planet Earth.
This is what I heard from a Russian Orthodox Priest on RUclips saying and explaining as parts of the reasons the Greeks and Russians have broke communion with one another.
I suspect--can't know for certain--that the CIA and Globalist like J_wish George Soros are calling shots or influencers within the Catholic Church. I'm not a fan of Pope Francis. But then there are a number of Bishops and Cardinals in the Catholic Church like him.
