    Thanks for the vid, I’m new to bonsai, I picked up a 35 year old oak that’s been grown in a plant pot, so got some good tips from this.

    I am new to bonsai, do leave the wire on permanently or remove once the shape is how you want it? Thanks for the video.

      Hi Cary, you leave the wire on untill you see it starting to bite into the brach then you remove it

    Wow.. I'm new to bonsai trees. I bought 30 Sequoia seeds in spring soaked 12 in warm water for 48hrs and I've got 8 bonsai trees growing and thriving. And the 16 seeds I experimented cold stratification and results till this day( 3 weeks) nothing yet but my first seeds grew 9 days after planting. And bought Japanese pine wood and soaked em in water for 48hrs and 9 days later I've got growth 2 out of 5 so far. How old is your tree? I hope someday I have a few trees like that 🏆

    • @houghtonbonsai
      @houghtonbonsai  7 месяцев назад

      I really don't know how old this tree is as it was collected, well done on your first go at growing bonsai nice turn out, fingers crossed for the rest hope they do well for you ;)

    Hi Ryan, I realise all the others are wired and have pushed their leaves out but as that last one is struggling would removing the wire on that back branch make any difference ?
    Thanks

    • @houghtonbonsai

      Its not long being wired Andrew, its down to lack of sunlight as it has being facing the black tiles on the shed and has not getting any light 🤞

    One hell of an oak that, funnily enough I like the the tree with the less foliage on after pruning most off the trunk shows the majesty of what an oak should be styled like, I have a cascade oak and it annoys me every time I look at it the style is wrong for an oak but I am stuck with it the only style I could get out of the material I had. Howard seems to have a lot to say for him self.

    • @houghtonbonsai
      @houghtonbonsai  Год назад

      Thanks Joe m8, i like it as well with less foliage and yes Howard is getting more like a gaurd dog lol

  • @denhardy7238
    @denhardy7238 Год назад +1

    😅for me. The size of the leaves is too much for the tree and needs a total defoliation. Dennis 😊

    • @houghtonbonsai
      @houghtonbonsai  Год назад

      With the oaks being slow this year Den i thought it would be best to leave some on 😂😂

  • @veganpullingpower6
    @veganpullingpower6 Год назад

    For me the left side is not needed as it has a reverse tapper chop it off . The tree if on the correct side would be far more dramatic. Then restyle new branches. To create the triangle . Back in to a training pot ie deeper for quicker result. Just saying . It is your tree and if your happy with it that's all that matters .

    • @houghtonbonsai
      @houghtonbonsai  Год назад

      I know where your coming from Vegan, that was the plan for the tree when i first got it about 3 years ago, but when i done the first wiring i thought i might as well try the tree like this. it has grown on me, i can always cut off it off at a later date if i dont like it, but i can not put it back on 🤣 🤣

      @@houghtonbonsai no worries man I like watching your videos. All you need to remmember is its infamtion all round . All good . If your not sure try the white bag or rag see what you think .if not grow some balls and cut it off 😂
