Oaks hold their leaves well into the winter. I have seen some in the neighborhood do that. Defoliating helps with seeing the bones of this cool tree.

I love that oak Ryan. It's funny I leave my oak work till the spring - it's normally one of the last species i get to because the buds are normally the last to start swelling :)

Love oaks, they were sacred trees to our Pagan ancestors. Around Yule (Christmas) an oak log would be burned, obviously a fallen branch or tree.

If you cut those bits of wood or carve it .Will make the tree look wider .also needs a rest bigger deeper pot for a few years .
