I have that same mentality when I play basketball. I only pump fake realistic shots. Even tho I can score from half court, there’s no use in pump faking from there. Or pump faking some sort of ridiculous trick shot
Tip 5 I’ve heard called “Going Third” a lot, and when I started thinking of it like that it helped me a lot. 1. You feint 2. They strike 3. You dodge and counter Love your work man 🙏🏻 Ricardo looking fresh too
Man, it's like everytime I hit a new level of training intensity and amount; I always come back to watching all of your videos again Shane! 😆 Eventually for the perfection of an underdog
Not gonna lie when I first saw this channel couple years ago, I thought Shane was more of a coach than a fighter, but Shane evolved leaps & bounds! Watching all his bouts is a treat and invalidates my assumption about him and his skills
This is amazing information. I've been training muay thai and just started thinking about how to feint more effectively. This vid expanded on some things I wanted to adjust
Another thing that can really help your feinting and combinations are cadence changes. Once you get your opponent to react to (fall in to or mirror the cadence you have set), speeding it up on the actual attack will leave him having to play "catch up" to the speed of your movements. Also having a quick cadence or essence of your movements and suddenly pausing or hesitating can work very well also. I remember hearing very fast fighters like Ryan Garcia for example say they sometimes have to slow down a little to set their opponents up...
Love you teaching bro a lot of fighters is good at fighting but not great at teaching good to see great breakdown everything make sense and easy to apply love your channel brada 💪🏼🙏🏽
Just Jab 3 times and than pretend like you're Jabbing the 4th time but throw a Huck or a lower Jab or something else; and that will be a good Feint or Fake strike if you do it Right.
@@justinkongol0I'm not experienced in boxing, but wasn't Leo throwing crosses instead of jabs? would it be safer to use jabs to feint instead as the OP mentioned?
I appreciate that, Norden! I actually did that in my very first upload, but street fighting footage goes against RUclips's policy and they gave me a violation strike because of it. So no street fight footage here on the channel, unfortunately 🤷♂️
me having an internal conversation weighing the pro's and con's of whether or not my feint will be successful might contribute to me telegraphing my feint.
2nd view lmaooo. Shane I feel sloppy when I start moving more fast when shadow boxing and I often go off balance and my punches like my hook and uppercut feel weak, u know a way I can work on this
A good tip I've heard is to use about 80-85% power, it's more energy efficient and hits pretty much as hard as long as your snapping. For hook make sure you are turning your toes, hips, torso, even shoulder in like 90 degrees and that your elbow is almost perpendicular to your hand so that it's structure is good. With uppercut you can try doing a bolo uppercut which I believe he has a video for, but it is more telegraphed. And with uppercut your rear heel almost touches the ground and then goes up while turning inwards, kind of like when you are about to jump in the air. And it's thrown with a feeling like its shooting out of your body rather than your shoulder/arm(this is for any punch).
Make sure your hips and shoulders are staying inside of your knees. If you can't reach use your feet. Sounds to me like you are struggling staying inside your base. Widen your stance if you have to. Especially if you're only boxing you can use really wide stance.
Sooo my dad is 6’9 and I spar with with him .... I watched you videos on sparing with a taller person... I’m working on applying them and changing things where it’s necessary. Sparing with someone who’s 6’9 is like fight someone who has legs instead of arms
thank you very much for all your video, base on my culture I must get your permission to practice what did you teach in your video, so with the full of respect may I get your permission Master
So Shane with the third step I get what you mean when you say don’t throw too many but Izzy does throw multiple feints at a time, so my question is can you still throw multiple feints at once if you know what your looking for?
I believe he has already done this in a few of his videos: ruclips.net/video/NCPQOPtJwOA/видео.html ; ruclips.net/video/LKia0iCdHcE/видео.html ; ruclips.net/video/-B3Oi2jxIEc/видео.html ; ruclips.net/video/5Xfq6VgvR3g/видео.html
Get close and throw hooks, uppercuts and preferably elbows( since it’s one of the stronger parts of your body and won’t hurt as much as throwing a punch)
Thank you for the video it helped a ton but I have a super important question that I'd love answered. Recently I took a barehanded punch straight to my jaw(its a long story) and before this I had a concussion. The punch started up my concussion and I'm afraid if I try to fight and get his it will start up again. Is there anyway that you know of that could heal my brain so i can fight without the worry of getting another concussion. Please let me know I would be extremely grateful.
Give yourself plenty of time to rest (4-8 weeks of no contact or hard trauma -- not just sparring, but even box jumps and sprinting). Take this time to strengthen your brain by reading, sleeping, and meditating. Study fight film to stay sharp!

Oh shiet Marvin Cook! We’re glad you’re back!
Gotta give them a reason to fear that feint in the first place

2:37 is hilarious but also i'm legitimately impressed of Shane's cardio to speak as he does all this drills.

Good vid Shane
Ricardo looking more comfy and confident. I'm invested in my boy's success
I literally just taught a class on feints. One of my favorite definitions of a feint was a strike i choose not to land. These are good tips.
Duuuude that was excellent. Fakes are used in any sport. I agree it's the most effective approach to gain a point against your opponent
This is amazing information. I've been training muay thai and just started thinking about how to feint more effectively. This vid expanded on some things I wanted to adjust

Cus D'Mato, is that you?
Cant do that all the time tho. Leo santa cruz threw three straights and got knocked out when attempting to feint on the 4th
Great way to get countered

Loved Shane's movement in that last demonstration. Great Tips. Who needs 50 min. Periods to get schooled? Ha
I think my feints are my best attribute when it comes to combat sports.
I understood why my feints weren't working way back then at a time when it comprised 60% of my moves during karate sparring...
Absolute masterful video, my dude.

Shane, clearly we need we need a "how to fight like Shane Fazen" video to follow this, with working feints.

2nd view lmaooo. Shane I feel sloppy when I start moving more fast when shadow boxing and I often go off balance and my punches like my hook and uppercut feel weak, u know a way I can work on this
drill drill drill 1000s of times
More shadow boxing and not worrying about putting 100% into all your shots. Focus on form and positioning mate.
If you're going off balance, it's likely you're over-reaching/leaning into your shots.
Film yourself.

Like others said, try suffocating him by getting close, turn his length into a disadvantage if possible
To add to that is, you YOURSELF have to believe that you're really gonna commit.
I remember being told to never feint. Just punch and commit, take their head off (obviously not for sparring).
Ricardo looks at you like he'd love to beat you up after he has to pretend your shot landed through his defence :D
Very helpful video though. Thanks!
