The picture at 0' 45" is Duckworth St (not Market St) and is looking towards the bottom of Heys Lane. The cottages with lower roofs behind the nearer lamp post were sited a few steps below pavement level and were demolished some years ago so that the river is now visible behind where they were. The shop behind the chap with his hands in his pockets was known as "Mrs Duckworth's" and was a sweet shop, The next shop to its right was a baker's...Rumsworth's, I think.
@@coops1964 Agreed...but the picture at 4' 24" is by the Cathedral in Blackburn at the northern end of Darwen St. The dark building in left centre is the old Lloyds Bank (still standing) whilst the buildings in the background were demolished and became Debenhams. The road disappearing into the background ends up at Blackburn Town Hall. The white figure to the right of the van is probably the policeman who used to stand there on point duty.

My dad went to Darwen grammar school about 1928. His name was Ben Walsh. He lived just outside Darwen in the village of Hoddlesdon. In Carus st.
Very sad l miss it so much so many memories and thoughts of Darreners l knew
One of them is Blackburn!
If you are referring to Ewood Park it is technically in Lower Darwen, the boundary then being the Ewood Bridge.
