Checking for any storm damage after Baboet. I think we got off lightly in Manchester. We have the Pennines to thank, they shelter us from Easterlies.

Great photographs of (bowton) bolton & look forward to many other's.
Stirling work, enjoyed loads, thanks a lot! 💐
Fab great to see again! 💐
That was brilliant! Thanks so much for compiling these old photos, was great to see. 💐
Much better now except for piccadilly gardens
What a brilliant collection! I was a nipper in the 50s and 60s living in Leigh. My mum used take me on the bus into Bolton on Saturdays for a shopping trip where we used to go to the market. All the shops seem so bustling and prosperous in those days.
At 1:38 it's not Lower Broughton Road, although it's just round the corner. It's the top end of Great Clowes Street, near the entrance to The Landslide.
Great video, just please get the dates and the places right though 🫣
Thank you so much!
Yes really enjoyed it many thanks. Mike.
Before mass forced immigration.
generations of my family are rooted here..its halcyon days are long gone
I worked at the bus depot on maintenance before it closed, then emptied it after. Nice little depot to work at
1;40 king street west def late 90s also looks like arndale. i used to go to that shop.
I used to visit the Barton swing bridges, there was an oil refinery there at the time and the Bridgewater canal was disgusting! 1:56 the building with the arches over the windows was the National Provincial Bank, my father was manager there c1960.
I used to buy my records from "The Music Box" which was part of the railway station building.
4:18 Light Oaks Primary School. "Pop" Harris was the head when I was there, c1960, probably one of the nicest headmasters a school ever had.
Absolutely wonderful I am almost 80 years old and I could not even begin to tell you how much pleasure it brings to see these old photos have not been back to Salford since the 1970,s but I can recall almost everywhere big thanks lovely job
Sacred ground to me. I grew up in Clifton. Despite living in Australia, it will always be home to me. Something you may not know. A young girl sadly drowned in the rat pit in the 1970’s. Her horse lowered its neck to take a drink from the water and she slid off and into the water, from where she couldn’t get out.
Brought a tear to my eye, all the way from Australia. Reminded me of the places I frequented when young. Most of all it made me think of so many great people, many of whom I have lost. Thank you 🙏
I lived near to Buile Hill Park in the late 50s, spent many an hour in the science museum there. 4:36 the kid in the centre looks like he's wearing a Salford Grammar School blazer.
Can anyone let me know what the music from the 2 minute mark and who plays it is thanks
Thank you for the photos I watch a lot of this kind of Salford videos but every one of your photos was new to me, I was born and bred in Salford . I am 80 years old and the dear old place is in my bones .
👏
Loved this😊
Thanks for sharing Les
just as I remember it 50 years ago
Nice vid . Love the. Canal👍
Chloride and Pilkingtons pumped millions into the Swinton economy, but all that has gone now and Swinton seems a very poor and scruffy town now.
Old is gold.
Great photos came to Canada 57 years ago but never forgot my Eccles roots
There's nothing better than looking at the old Manchester. The real Manchester. Brings back so many memories. Thanks for sharing.
Stowell Memorial Church burnt down but the spire is still there at the end of the M621
The pub you asked about was the Red Lion on Chapel Street
The picture of Bank St looking upwards from the bottom has a mill on the right hand side, its Crown Street Corn Mill. Run by Henry Whitehursts, i worked there around 79/80. My first job after leaving school, i worked in the offices. Loved it. Some fantastic characters worked in the mill itself, they produced animal feeds for the North West.
I enjoyed the video l lived in Swinton in the 50s and 60s so have seen even more changes. I remember St Peters church when it had a graveyard I remember the old shops before the precinct. I live in Australiia now, but I have fond memories of the old Swinton

Enjoyed those. Some good memories. Thank you
John Dalton Street where I used to deliver in the late 80s
8:43 Eric's corner shop on Langton Street. The shop had to be knocked down because of subsidence.
Anybody know when the old trams finally disappeared, I have a vague recollection of them in the late 1950's. Noticed a sign for the Carlton Club. Met the owner and his wife a couple of times in the mid 60's. Visited once - quite disappointed because it did have certain reputation at the time as being exclusive.
nice vid
One of them is Blackburn!
If you are referring to Ewood Park it is technically in Lower Darwen, the boundary then being the Ewood Bridge.
Great video with good memories. Pity about the spelling of Ariel. That was a washing powder! Thanks though.
Always Lancashire, never Salford
The square building is a pump house there is another 1 near Barton bridge just of the old lane at side of Barton bridge. Great video I lived in the turreted house on site of rhs for 5 years it was the head gardeners cottage for earl of Ellesmere dated 1840 very popular with ladies when I lived there 😀
We really did live in black and white ! Bought my first under age pint in the Britannia on the Heights 1971.
Good information.
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Thank you very much for your efforts.
And just look at it now!
Enjoyed this, thanks
Hello, what a great video, I lived on Shawcross st, behind the Mariner pub in the 80s as a kid, I’ve never forgotten where I’m from 😊
