What do you order from Five Guys?
I always order the same way and I plan to keep doing it my way: Little Cheese Burger with Mayo, Ketchup, Mustard, Lettuce, Tomato, Relish, onion.
I ordered a bacon hot dog with lettuce tomato pickle onion with barbecue sauce and fries. Next time I'll be ordering a burger.
Double bacon cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, pickles, grilled onion and extra mustard (no ketchup, or mayo). Sometimes I add grilled jalapeños. Small fries extra crispy.
Two hotdogs with mushrooms, grilled onions, jalapeño and cheese!!
The quad , extra cheese and every topping with a large fry. The bag always rips and gets grease all over my leather seats so I bring my own.

There is always the option of just making your own food if you don't like the price of eating out

The foil is not packaging. It is part of the cooking, as it holds in the steam off the hot beef.
It also cuts costs by not needing someone to wash plates and trays. More focus on the food and cooking.

Mine uses old oil causing the ff to be black and taste nasty. The manager called them brown, but I know black from brown, dummy. I don’t eat there, I go elsewhere.

Right after I moved to the DC area, I took a job near a Five Guys. Not knowing what I was getting into, I ordered a cheeseburger, a hot dog, and a regular fries. That was more than 20 years ago, and I'm still working my way through it!
Where I live now has both In-N-Out and Five Guys. I have a fondness for In-N-Out, being from Southern California, but I'm happy to settle for a Five Guys burger any day of the week. Great stuff!

I worked at five guys for some months the fry can be perfect if the right person is cooking them sadly a lot of employees are trained poorly or just don’t care so a lot of time they end up soggy because they don’t shake the grease off the frys before they bag them

I like my burger's just like how I like my pizza. Just a few essential topping's and nothing more. Usually a cheeseburger from 5 guys with tomatoes, grilled onions, and ketchup. I'm not terribly creative when it comes to food. I tend to stay with what works.

I disagree on the hotdogs. Here in the UK finding beefdogs is very rare. So going to give guys for a hotdog/beefdog is a real treat.
Agreed, they are very beefy, and when they split and fry them on the griddle, they take on an even more lively texture and flavor. True, they are a terrible value, but they taste beefy and well prepared.

I have been going to Five Guys since the 1990s and it is my favorite restaurant. Originally mine had fresh brewed Red Diamond sweet tea that was the perfect complement to their burgers, but they quit serving it because it was probably too much work. Five Guys also used to have decent older style coke dispensers but now they have fancy ones that have a million flavors. Unfortunately, the Coke tastes uniformly awful and I can't drink it. So now I just bring a water bottle when I go there because Five Guys no longer sells a beverage worth drinking. For a restaurant that touts its food quality, it is an amazing failure.
My biggest recommendation is there is a HUGE difference between Five Guys locations. Five Guys isn't cheap so you don't want to come away feeling ripped off and disappointed. If the Five Guys you are going to makes you a good meal then go back. But if the Five Guys overcooks your burgers to small dried out tough black postage stamps or gives you a small handful of fries, then go to a different Five Guys because if you don't it is going to continue to happen. Once a Five Guys goes downhill it is gone. There is no corrective process.

2. The toppings are free if you order a double cheeseburger you pay the same price as you would for a double cheeseburger with Lettuce, Tomato, onion, pickles, fried onions, mushrooms, all the sauces, etc.
Only topping that costs extra is bacon.

I actually worked there and trust they’re still under charging. EVERYTHING IS MADE FRESH. If fries are 5 minutes old they get tossed. Plus everything made to order

Same but we do now have frozen dogs now and bacon always is that’s just how bacon is made it was updated during Covid that’s why when we receive hot dogs now we should be taking them out of the case placing them on a metal sheet pan with a label of received date

The well done burger has nothing to do with food safety. The Murrell family is just a stickler for making well done burgers almost like an unofficial trademark. Another interesting note is that 5 Guys will never offer promotions, discounts, or coupons because they feel their product is good enough to be purchased at full price every time.

I usually get it with pickles+grilled onion, pickles+onion or tomato+lettuce+onion. All of the above with mayo. And always get a small portion of fries, they put like one more portion inside the paper bag, so its more than enough

What are you talking about with the hot dogs. I work at five guys and I love there hot dogs and there not falling apart as much as the burgers. But they are a bit expensive but you can add whatever toppings you want.

I forgot what I ordered but it was the best meal during my trip to NY because I had this burger after a long hike.
Last time I went to a 5 guys for 4 adults and 2 kids meals we spent over $100 which if you go to culvers, smash burger, or Freddie's you end up spending about 50 to 60 bucks. And it wasn't even good, the bread was all soggy as well

I went to one about a few days ago and it was $30 for lunch for just 2 of us. Since I knew that they give extra fries (thank u youtube!), just 1 serving of fries was ok. However, this is the 1st time ever that I've seen ALL the flavors in the Coco cola machine available! In every fast food place that I've been in, they generally have just about 12 flavors.
ummm you realize almost every fast food if you get a combo meal supersized you are paying between 12 and 15 dollars. so 30 dollars for 2 falls right in line. umm fast food is not cheap anbymore. and not fast most of the time. at least you are getting your moneys worth in FF's. ummm Hardees/Carls JR, and mcdonalds if you get the large cobo you are paying 12 to 15 dollars but with them their fries come in a narrow pinched box which amounts to about a small maybe a medium fry.
I go once in awhile and I get the small burger with cheese, mushrooms. They remind me when my mom made burgers on the stove. Everything is expensive, thanks to inflation. Love Five Guys!

These burgers have no flavor, but throw some toppings on and some Cajun seasoning and your taste buds are in for a journey. Still overpriced though...

I had a monthly meeting in a town about 30 minutes from my house. The place where we had the meeting was a few doors down from the Five Guys. I would always stop after my meeting and get a burger for me, and a plain junior burger for my dog! I’d get home and we’d eat our burgers together!
My wonderful dog died last February, and I haven’t been to Five Guys since. It’s still too sad.

I prefer five guys over a McDonald’s any day and each location is different but it all depends who does the fries and a chocolate and strawberry milkshake with whipped cream is a good combination I just had it for my dinner yum yum 😋

I work at five guys, and we do put the cheese on the burger while on the grill. We always make sure its melted, and if it doesn't get melted on the grill, when it gets wrapped the heat of the burger will definitely melt it.

1. Be creative, there are tons of different combos even excluding the secret menu!
2. Take advantage of the secret menu (especially the grilled cheeseburger!)
3. Not all locations have milkshakes.
4. There's no extra cost for asking for extra cheese or bacon.
Yes, their burgers are more expensive. However, they are outstanding! Yes, MacDonald's and Burger King are less expensive but they look and taste like a thin hockey buck!! You get what you pay for!!

The hot dogs are great. Also, the burgers are also far more expensive than other burger joints. Seriously, try a hot dog there loaded with toppings and you won't be disappointed
I always get the Little Cheese Burger all the way and a hot dog with mustard and jalapeños. The little cheeseburger is still plenty big. I skip the fries and instead go for a tray of peanuts which are free.

bobR but the point of a smash burger is to be very flat and cook it a high heat. 1 minute on both sides and it is pretty much done

Also, the milkshakes are kinda small. The fries and burgers are huge. Even the hotdogs are bigger than average. The milkshakes, on the other hand, only come in one side and are pretty small compared to what you’d get anywhere else
Are they very expensive? Yes. Is the overhead on fresh food and in-house cut potatoes higher than frozen and premade stuff? Also yes.
Yes, the burger and the fries were delicious. The only issue I had with 5 Guys was, their order takers just do not listen to the customer, like me. I switched my order of fries from medium to large. What I received was both sizes. Disappointment. The burger was made to culinary perfection.
POS has to read back to order before asking for payment, either that one staff member sucks, or you just didnt listen.

I tried ordering the presidential at six different locations over the last three years and no one knows what it is so I don't think that that's actually a thing at least here in South Florida
