@Rob Races, Just wanted to say that the 2010 Acura CSX I have (non Type-S) 5mt has a throw of 4 inches! ugh... Luckily I picked up a Type-S lever assembly which is the exact same as the 09 Si. So I just need to find a used 06 assembly and do the swap and place that sucker in lol. Thx for the diy, you got some sick vids! 👍👍
Back when I had a brand new 2011 FG2, TWM performance built the best shifter assembly. Sad to see they are not around anymore. Comparable more to an acuity I thought it was nicer than a hybrid racing.
surely theres a reason why the 09-11 version has a longer threaded shaft (where the shift knob sits) ? Why didnt they keep the same length as the 08 model?
My assumption was they wanted a shifter height that was a bit taller for the facelift cars, and since the extra height would increase throw they redesigned the geometry of the base to match the previous cars throw
@Rob Races and Rebuilds, Really curious have you done any comparison to the Mugen Si OEM short shifter part # 54000-XVJ-000 or know any info about it? I know it costs 200 bucks but I'm very curious on the differences in measurements for the top shaft and bottom arm compared to your swapped version? Elsewhere you get a lot of conflicting information on the Mugen Short shifter so I'm genuinely interested in your take? thx!
The mugen is a shorter throw. If you combine my oem+ version with a decent quality short throw adapter.. you would probably be similar to the feeling of a mugen
@@robracesandrebuilds6499 Cool thanks. It's so difficult to find a used mugen Si quick shifter these days. I dont know if I want to buy a new one just to compare. But I read somewhere that the lever arm is 3.25 compared to the 06 3.5 inch length. So in theory that would be another 10%?
@@robracesandrebuilds6499 oh really? I did the swap. I love it and its indeed shorter. but im getting addicted to this whole oem short shifter thing and wondering just how much the oem mugen si would be :P
@@robracesandrebuilds6499 Have you ever heard of a Canadian CSX Type-S? It's supposedly like the Si here in the States but I'm wondering if the assembly is like your 09' or 06'. Either way both has to be better than my 5mt assembly no?

Greatness walking among us..I salute you. Now on to make this.
Great info, thanks for giving me something to do and leaving oem parts like i like
look at you go with your mental math accuracy!

Good find , !
thanks! definitely a good upgrade for someone who doesn't have hybrid/acuity money in their budget

@CodeParticles i wouldnt get too caught up in the numbers, when it gets too short, you lose feel. Start with the 06 top and feel it out!

@rob races, can I use any of them the way they are on my 09 or the short one stock won’t fit?
Any 06 to 11 will fit
Fancy
@Rob Races and Rebuilds, This may be a dumb question but can I swap out a 6mt assembly into a 5mt assembly or is that bad?
I believe the assemblies share the same structure, with the difference being in the throw. Shouldn't be an issue
@@robracesandrebuilds6499 Cool so I too can get a diy short throw from an earlier model into my 5mt? Sweet thx!
@battosaijenkins946 If i 6 you, I would just swap in the entire zenki 6mt assembly onto yours

Do you know if they have different number parts between the 2 shifters?
Yes they do
