#8BitDo #Controller #Review - Наука
i've been using the sn30pro since 2018, the A and R1 buttons got stuck, the rubber ripped, but they sent the entire repair kit for free way out of warranty, 8bitdo is great
Woah, that's good to know. I've had one for about a year and it's been great, but good to know they're so good about stuff.
I would charge for it. Nothing lasts forever :P
@@alexhandzhiev i agree, i've had to order a few things for my pro 2 which are available on their website for cheap, back then there wasn't replacement parts anywhere
last week my 8bitdo wireless receiver stopped working after a fall, i opened it up to check the PCB and there was 1 resistor missing
i sent them an email with photos asking if they could tell me the value of the resistor that i needed
they replied saying they couldn't tell me but they would replace it if i had a receipt for it
which i don't sadly, but they are willing to give me a new one even though i said it broke due to a fall and i even opened it myself, which would void any warranty in the world
i'm starting to love this company, pro consumer to the end
Good example of how great customer service yields both value for both the customer and the company. This comment gives me more trust in them and makes me more likely to buy their products because of your great experience!
8bitdo is 100% the best 3rd party controller company and in a few years I can see them becoming a big company and maybe doing more than just controllers
I have the SN30 Pro, I wanna also get an SF30 Pro, and eventually the Grey and Gameboy versions of this to have a nice selection between them as well as enough for multi-player games
I bought 4 controllers from them, I love them all, everytime I upgrade I give the last one to a gamer friend cause they're mind is blown that I'm gaming on my phone and tablet
I do not know why a company like this has not been a thing FOR YEARS.
I love their stuff.
I just wish they make a GameCube receiver and controller.
@Ice Bear-imnida I hope they release a controller just like this but with a gamecube layout, but the D pad is in the same place as these ones
They're great but the big drawbacks for a Switch player are it won't wake up the Switch, and they take forever to connect
@@switchunboxing Just get your ass of the couch and press the power button
Thanks Adam! I have the Pro+ and I like it very much (as a PC-only player I might add). The changes in the Pro 2 version seem well thought out and I appreciate the fact that they use the same battery! Since I need a second controller anyway I probably go for it. Great review.
I love the chill vibes! Goes in-depth and informational too!
Love the 8bitdo controllers! Started with the SN30 Pro over a year ago, and then got the Pro+ this past Christmas. Just love how I can go from gaming on my PC to gaming to the Switch without issue (other than the odd BT signal issues from the Switch that affect all controllers, not just the Joy-Cons).
8BitDo like Nin-ten-dough, Nobody says Nintendew lol
Exactly
I just recommended this to my cousin who is looking for a PlayStation style controller for his computer. Thanks for the info, Adam! I also appreciate the included previous models to see where they started. Good stuff! Keep up the great work guys!
I have seen that AliExpress has Pro 2 in stock now.
@@lamkk6236 aliexpress is shit
@@karl3168 Because the playstation controllers (Dualshock and Dualsense) aren't natively supported in Windows ? Since they're not X-input controllers, most games will not work with them out of the box. You're going to have to configure the PS controllers manually through 3rd party apps like Steam or DS4Windows. Which works pretty well once it's all set and done but it is a pain in the ass to set up at first. The 8bitdo on the other hand supports X-input out of the box, which means any PC game with controller support will recognize it as an "Xbox" controller and will work straight away.
I hope that helps.
Oh awesome detail noticing the battery still says Sn30! I just did a review of this controller as well, and I compared it to the Nintendo Switch Pro controller and many many others! I like how the start and select buttons are centered also when they weren't on the previous model.
Honestly, for nintendo consoles or PC gaming, I would only recommend 8BitDo controllers. Not only does every controller I purchase from them work perfectly and hold a charge for a super long time, but the overall quality of all their products are great. Intuitive design as well and almost all of them have USB-Type C connections. Even their packaging is great, minimal and not wasteful. I just pre-ordered this controller so I have a backup for the Pro+ I already own. Really awesome company and I'm glad they keep making these awesome controller that I think are priced really affordably. As a side note, I'd love a Pro+ that was wired and they could make them cheaper to sell, bet those would be really popular.
They're awesome, but keep in mind that for Switch players who don't need the underside buttons and different profiles, the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller also has really great build quality, connects much faster, will wake up the Switch with the home button, and has NFC for Amiibo, as well as HD Rumble. It also has better feeling trigger buttons
Does it have gyro though?
@@switchunboxingthe 8bitdo pro 2 is the best to me…
I just bought this controller for Elden Ring on PC and it is the best I have ever used. It's lighter and maybe even more comfortable to hold than the Xbox controller and all the inputs feel snappy and premium. I have bound the rear buttons to macros to use pouch items. I have rear left for mount and rear right for physick flask. I really hope it has good durability too, time will tell.
how does the controls work in pc? the layout is in switch mode (BAYX) so I'm wondering what'll be the case on pc where I'm used to play on xbox layout (ABXY)

@@angelo397 steam's controller mode, by default, actually supports both the xbox and nintendo button scheme! just a simple switch in the settings
How well has the controller held up?
@@DARKSAMUS386 still works perfectly, though I admit I'm not a heavy controller gamer mostly using kb and mouse. That said It already outlasted my Xbox Pro Elite controller - being premium on the outside means nothing when MS used crap internal components.
I really like how in depth you went. I’m totally going to get one!
8BitDo really seems to listen to its consumers. And they make great products for great prices.
Great Hair❗I may get this controller at some point. I wish it came in other colors tho with RGB🤯
Love the 8bitdo reviews! Thinking about pre-ordering one right now!
Just did!
@@pcworld Will do 👍
I have their Arcade stick (the second one) and its fantastic.
It camer with a square gate by default so I replaced that with a cheap octagonal gate, other than that it was perfect though.
*edit* realized I also have their switch lite controller. Great D-pad controller for PC using the Xinput mode. Also great for indie games on switch of course.
When reviewing tech; it is very important to mentioning any features not shared, or dropped, when comparing models. Don't just talk about what got enhanced, unless your looking to be ignored. People find it very suspicious that no youtuber covering the '"pro 2" is mentioning the lack of concave X & Y buttons.
One of the biggest videos on the controller, they're definitely not being ignored, ya grump. I however did mention the lack of concave buttons on my review, but almost omitted it sine its such a small detail and only because it was a specific feature of the SN Edition and there is no SN Edition of the Pro 2 at least not right now. People aren't finding it suspicious. You're just being dramatic.
@@switchunboxing I watched it, not bad
hey, great review! convinced me to buy one of these controllers! been looking all day at different controllers (recently sold my ps4 and realized i still want a controller for my pc) and all seem to be cheap crap that break within a month of use. judging from your words and the comments here, this controller definitely seems to be worth the money. i love the look of it (bought the retro-looking one! :P) as it reminds me of the ps4 dualshock controllers which are my favourites - but they cost almost twice as much. can't wait to try it out :D cheers
I remember picking this up at a Best Buy after Christmas! I've heard about how quality the 8BitDo controllers were.
What kind of kontrolfreeks/thumb grips will work with the pro 2?
Nice review!
I have the SF30 Pro and it's amazing. Being able to use it on my Switch, PC, and android is the best feature. I'll definitely be picking up the Pro 2.
Will this work on emulators that support Xinput?
Also, how is the bluetooth delay?
I preordered it when I first first about it and I’m so glad I did!! I’ve been using it constantly. The only issue i had with it is that the select and start button sometimes don’t work depending on the software because of the built in screenshot function and you can’t make profiles for MacOS using the ultimate software which was really unfortunate as an Apple user.
I hope that will change in time.
Do you like it one year later?
Great review! Can you use the Ultimate Software on MacOS to configure the Turbo button (for Switch mode)?
Pre ordered mine should be shipped out today. Love my regular SN30. Can’t wait to try this Pro 2 out on my PC and RPi 4.
I believe there were batches, I pre order my last week and there is nothing yet about shipping date on amazon
@@Kojoizfreshz Yeah mine says Order Received but hasn’t shipped yet.
I have been using a SN30 pro since it first got released. I love it for indie and 2D games fantastic controller. Looking forward to upgrading to the pro 2.
They (I have the SN30+) also work on any Linux computer, I play it in my Kali Linux 2021, using the Antimicrox configuration software (Antimicrox is the equivalent to Xpadder for PC) it´s awesome
I use an 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ controller and I like it's design and buttons.
I enjoy controlling games with that gamepad. :)
I mightly will order the newer 8BidDo controller at the end of this year.
Question, i've been trying to play a game on steam with my sister and so i bought two pro2 controllers, I managed to get one controller to function through the usb in game but the second controller connects through usb too and lit up as player 2 (second from the left lit up), but could not join in as player 2. FYI the game is called "Warriors Orochi 4" i tried bluetooth connection with both controllers which ended in successful pairing but they're both player 1, is there a way to switch a controller to player 2? they're both lit up on the furthest left.
Hey bit late here, but i was wondering how bad the input lag is (since ive heard its pretty bad), and if after a month of use you've noticed any stick drift? thanks in advance
Can P1 and P2 be used as independent i.e. additional buttons instead of mapping them to standard buttons? For example, I want to use them as hotkeys.
Your voice is so relaxing to listen to.
Any idea when they'll restock? Sold out almost immediately.
does the dpad feel diffrent?
i have the sn30 pro + and right direction on the dpad feels stiff and worse than the other directions
i wonder if they fixed this in Pro 2
I believe that has been a somewhat common problem that some people have encountered. I think there's fixes you can find on reddit though
I have the Plus, and I simply had to upgrade, well, I'll still keep my plus, but I got the black version this time. Amazing pads this brand makes, they're simply the best next to Brook (though Brook does converters, their converters are must haves for old systems!)
Best thing about this one is that the controller legend is on the buttons their selves rather than on the pad it self, so I will swap the buttons to make it non-Nintendo (I always use every other systems legends for their buttons.)
Can you play the SN30 Pro 2 with the cable alone? My PC has no bluetooth so can you connect the USB C to the controller and will it work?
Great vid, very informative. Just one question though. I use a Pro+ on the Switch, and every time I want to use turbo, it takes a screenshot. Am I doing something noobish or is this a "design feature"?
In switch mode the star button acts like the capture button on the switch controllers (and home acts like the home button). As the manual confirms turbo mode is not available in switch mode.
Can I use a back button to mimic a simultaneous press of X+A? or a simultaneous press of LT+X?
can i play with it the cable connected when there is no battery?
Looking to get this as soon as it releases! But does it still connect to ios/ipados? I'm aware that they don't market their controllers officially supporting ios yet they do connect as ds4 thru macOS mode. Would appreciate if you can confirm, just need to make sure :)
yes they still do.
Hello, great review. I have a question: Is it easy to pair the controller to the pc or the Switch? I have the SN30 PRO+, and I normally use it on the pc. After using it on the pc, if I want to pair it on the Switch, I really have troubles, many times it doesn't work and I have to wait a lot, it really is a waste of time. Would you say this is easier with the PRO2 since it has the pairing buttons? Thank you.
@@pcworld Thank you for your reply, this convinced me even more to get it. It's good to see that they improved this aspect because it was really troublesome.
@@pcworld Thank you for you answer Adam. I didn't know that the Switch had problems to recognize the devices, that explains it as well. And you are right, once you restart it, it normally connects.
that video gives the same vibes when you have a little chat at your buddy 's home
GJ, Adam
is this work wireless on pc? for exaple when im using usb BT adapter? is it pairing well?
I just got mine yesterday, it's so fucking amazing.
What color didya get
Do the concave buttons still appear on the black edition of the pro 2?
Spec wise it should be compatible with Apple devices, but have you tried pairing it? Will it work on latest iOS versions?
How are the D-Pads on these controllers? I need a controller with a good one considering how awful the one on the Switch Pro controller is.
Would it work with to play online games for latest Apple phones ?
Υou will also need a bt adapter (if your pc doesnt have one) for this, right?
Does anyone know if the SN30 pro 2's new phone clip still fits the switch lite in it? Thanks
Is it possible to perform/assign turbo on the buttons?
Do the controller profiles work on the switch too or is the button mapping pc mode only?
@@pcworld Thanks
It's literally made for the Switch, PC and Mobile are also supported.
You can even swap the Dpad and sticks! So you can play Links Awakening with the dPad since Nintendo was stupid and didn't make that an option. However, you cannot change the trigger sensitivity.
Have you tried playing on your phone through a wired connection? (guess you'd use an OTG adapter with the cable the pro 2 came with) Thanks for the vid!
@@pcworld nice, thanks for the reply!
Do back buttons work on switch?
Going to have to get one of these, my ipega 9037 broke randomly one day, just quit working after a few minutes of use, battery voltage is fine tested another battery as well and my ole 8bitdo zero still works but I need something that can handle gamecube inputs for dolphin on android, looks like this will be a more reliable option although the larger face buttons of the Pro+ sounds better to me.
Will they have the more compact version. Those are the ones I use with my switch.
@@pcworld They actually did do a small refresh on the SN30 Pro that was just released yesterday. I'm not sure exactly what differences there are. The only thing I noticed is that the face buttons match the new Pro 2 face buttons.

I am a little bit worried about the sticks getting in the way of the buttons on the right on that SN30 Pro and later generations when you are playing tight platform-games (like the Kaizo Mario hack).
I've played a ton of platformers on my SN30 Pro+. The right analog stick doesn't get in the way at all. It's literally perfect.
@@RGGeek Thanks, good to know! Then it probably will be fine.I have big and thick fingers, thick enough that I could not plug in the fan headers in a Fractal S case on a X570 Gigabyte Elite after I installed the Noctua D15 cooler. I am a bit worried about the back of my thumb touching that stick when pushing the left two buttons. This is one of the controllers which I would be interested in if they can be used wired too (and if it works fine on Linux because that is what I use for gaming).
I can play regular platform games fine with just a keyboard but with Kaizo Mario I need a controller because with a mechanical keyboard you can't do those really low jumps properly.
i bought the last one they made v1 of the pro. had it maybe 4 months before it stopped working altogether. wouldnt charge. i bought it thinking it would out last my xbox controller and its issues with stick drift. but whats the point if the unit stops working before the sticks do
Spectacular review, I'll order one using your affiliate link later today.
Will it work with an iPad for games?
Andrew, Can I connect 8bitdo Pro 2 on my ipad IOS?
Can this controller be used with a iOS / iPadOS device because there is iOS app in the appstore available?
Yes it can, I use it for genshin impact, tho you have to switch between x input and d input depending on the game
How is the quality of the thumbsticks of the new one compared to the old one? I remember seeing a thread about people having theirs get shaved off because of usage
@@pcworld That's a bit disheartening but thanks for the response
This controller is sweet, but playing Elden ring with an Xbox Elite controller I've noticed how helpful it is to be able to use a d-pad with your right thumb!
With the d-pad close to the right-hand you can choose which thumb is best to use during gameplay, being able to run while holding down a back trigger and cycling items and weapons with your right thumb is incredibly clutch! 👍
is anyone else doing this?
How much smaller are the buttons? I wanted to do a swap with SNES buttons but it looks like they might not fit now
@@pcworld Yes those, on the previous model I've seen people swap the buttons with SNES or famicom colored ones
That was fast ☺️
Does it have HD Rumble?
@@pcworld disappointing, thanks
I just wish there was an option with the buttons lay out like in the xbox, im gonna use this for pc and even if i have the muscle memory to press B when i want to press A, it would be aesthetically pleasing to have the buttons match what I press. I know there is a black version but I really like how the buttons look on this gray one.
@@pcworld It is? well then I'll give it a shot!
@@pcworld open up mine, the buttons dont fit in other slots ._. oh well is still a good controller.
Are the buttons soft like the dualsense or clicky like the Xbox controller?
Can you make a review of the Gamesir T4 Pro ?
You forgot about the Gyro, if you are a fan of Flick Stick controls for shooters, is a nice thing to have.
My only real issue with the review is the fact you didn’t mention the ultimate software is available as a mobile app and can be used to change stuff on the fly or even when you are in game as the app can still communicate with controller while you are in game.
can you assign a turbo button with the pro 2?
Just got the Pro 2 the other week and I game on my pad, Switch and PC. This controller can not be beat, especially for this price. My one concern is that the little switch on the back will break soon because I use it so much switching between platforms. Might have to get another one just to reduce the wear and tear.
Is there lag while on PC via Bluetooth?
@@gregthesplintercell I'm not very sensitive to lags like some people, so if it does lag, I can't tell. But I can say that it is the same as an Xbox One controller, the other controller that I use on my PC.
Hey man, i'm looking to buy one of these Pro 2 controllers for wireless PC gaming. I just wanted to ask about the durability of these controllers. My previous controller (Logitech F710) fell apart after only 1 year of use. Stick drift, L3 and R3 buttons stuck etc.. Do you think the 8bitdo Pro 2 is durable enough or should i just pay the difference and get a 9th gen Xbox controller ?
Is the turbo fast I like to play street fighter 2 and it needs a fast turbo
I have a problem, I have windows 11 and my 8bit do Pro 2 does not work with bluetooth, it only works with cable. At first I thought the bluetooth was wrong but when I connect the controller with my mobile phone via bluetooth everything works fine. And I have already installed the software and driver Please help!!!
that forward slope is the same issue I had with the PS4 controller (haven't tried the Ps5 controller)
I just wish that they would stop using the SNES button naming scheme and the use X-Input ones.
Does this not work with series x? Even if it's a wired connection?
does this controller (or controllers) work on apple ios?
can it wake the switch ?
Nothing mentioned about the D-pad performance. Given there is none on the Joy Cons and the Pro Controller has a terrible D-pad, this should have been a talking point here.
It's excellent, it's straight up from a SNES controller. Amazing for playing retro games.
Could someone help me verify if the sticks are shorter than the pro controller on switch? I tried the Power A fusion pro and that was worse :/
Can u map the back buttons with out computer?
Is there a way to connect it wireless to PC?
What is those two hole next to the charging port does anyone know?
Does anyone know if this controller will work with the series x? Even if wired?
A normal switch pro controller is way more comfortable. This controller responds correctly in my experience, but isn’t designed for a normal-handed person. Doesn’t matter if you can play claw or other techniques.
I need this, what a great controller
The Pro 2 isn't out where I am at the moment. Would I be okay with the Pro+?
@@pcworld Thanks a lot!
It fits so well in my hands it's quite scary hahahah. Never used a more comfy controller
I love it. It's addicting to hold for some reason!
Idk
I'd still rather use the Switch Pro controller. Gyro and offset sticks are worth it alone for me, but the 40-hour battery, HD rumble, and nfc clinch it. It's just so good to have 1 controller for everything. Works on Steam too
every controller should be like this. found it very disappointing that the ps5 controller wasn't something more like this. I have ordered one of these for my switch. comes up at the end of april in the UK
Yeah. I’m a disabled gamer and I can’t buy a PS5 until they allow third party controllers with back buttons to work. Sony is AWFUL with accessibility support. You can turn off Dual Sense system wide, so why not allow third party PS4 controllers to work??? Lol.
How would rate this against a Sony Dual Sense PS5 controller? That’s been my goto for my PC and Steamdeck thus far.
My SN30 Pro+ got D-Pad drift. You heard me. I have no idea how. What can I do?
Will this work on PC to play Warzone?!
I can't get how to set douple buttons to the macro paddles in Tekken 7 as double buttons at same time, it doesn't work!
When I set e.g. Y + A to P1/P2 in Tekken 7, only one of these buttons will be used in the game!! So what did I wrong?? ... I've bought it only for Tekken 7 for a better D-pad than a PS4 Dualyshock and the programmable buttons but at the time I'm just disappointed 😥
I like that letters are actually now on the buttons rather than on the side and that theyre colored.
It's just on this new Gray Edition, but yeah it looks great. Also 2 tone color on the body
@@switchunboxing I know.Thats why Im getting the new gray version.
@@mattjackson2799 Awesome! I like the nostalgia even though I never had a PlayStation.
These things need a 6 month later and 1 year later reviews.
