I love my 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ that I've bought after your review, it still looks and feels brand new even after hundreds of hours of gameplay and my cats dropping it on the floor twice (and trying to bite it once).
Btw, another differences in the Pro 2 are the buttons layout, 1) they centred the start and select buttons (they were slightly shifted to the left, a thing that triggered the OCD in a lot of people) and 2) the ABXY buttons are now a perfect diamond like modern controllers, the Pro+ looked more like the old SNES controller, the Pro 2 also lacks the concave/convex buttons that the Pro+ had, which was more suitable for retro games.

The only "fancy" upgrade that would be fun for me to see on future models is experimenting with modular parts. Aside from that, I like that 8bitdo has focused in the middle area price range. We already have many companies trying to push premium products upwards of $100 to $200 a pad. I'm not sure we need another premium contender. Theres still a lot of variations in midrange pricing that 8bitdo could try. Some style examples would be OG gamecube, Hori Gameboy player for GC, xbox style with offset sticks, and joycon variations. A ergonomic set of joycons that can operate wirelessly and include a good dpad would be amazing

@@LWAllen With regard to joycons, you're right. Those obviously have problems that shouldn't happen but do, and to me they just aren't ergonomic. But I've done quite a bit of research into pro controller alternatives, and they ALL have some major problem. When I look at actual reviews on Amazon for this controller and the previous 8bitdo controller that all these RUclipsrs rave about, I quickly see a bunch of negative reviews from people reporting bug problems mechanically, software-wise, and certain features being unaccessible when using with the Switch. I watch these RUclipsrs reviews of their controllers where they have nothing but nice things to say, yet lots of Amazon reviewers seem to have genuinely had problems. Only other close alternative is the Power A enhances wireless, and there are MANY reports of very fast and severe stick drift. Maybe the official Nintendo Pro Controller's D pad is lacking, but other than that it really seems like it is the most reliable controller for the Switch. If anyone has positive comments about the 8bitdo please let me know, I really would like an alternative but it doesn't seem as cut and dry as these RUclipsrs being sent free product make it out to be.

    • @Jack_80

@@LWAllen all these newer generation first party controllers suck. i've had at least half a dozen dualshock 4 controllers and every single one had analog issues in under 6 months. i've heard they're building them to break down quickly intentionally to make more money, and i don't doubt it. i never had these problems with a ps2, ps3, gamecube, xbox, xbox 360, or dreamcast controller, now suddenly just about every controller has stick drift issues within 6 months. if you look at the reviews on pretty much every modern first party and many third party controllers, at least 90% of them say the same thing, stick drift problems after a short amount of time. if this never used to be a common problem, what could have changed so drastically that it's suddenly a huge problem? if they were able to design them to prevent dust from quickly getting in there where it will cause major problems 20+ years ago, why can't they do it now? they know many of their customers are suckers now that will continually shell out money for these garbage controllers, so they have no real incentive to fix the problem. we just keep getting more and more screwed by the gaming companies, and it will only continue to get worse because we let them get away with it. i hear the ps5 controllers are already having serious problems even worse than the ps4, yet people keep buying them up, so why would they bother solving the problems?

If you play even some 2D platforming games I’d recommend this controller or it’s predecessor. I would not recommend the Switch Pro controller if you expect to be using your d-pad for multiple games, there are certain games it is unplayable with. 8bitdo pro 2 is a very good option, if not the best, for Switch especially if you’re into 2D games.

I really like the coloured letters on the controller. It reminds me of the PAL version SNES controller. I hope they do a version that fully colours those buttons. I was also wondering with the SN30 Pro+ and since Switch version 10.0.0. I notice that if you have that controller connected wired for charging or something, it would disrupt the connection with the regular Switch Pro controllers. The Switch just doesn't know if the Pro Controllers are charging or just being used. Does the Pro 2 do that as well?
