    This season has changed my views on Sainz. Before this season I would've considered him just a solid but unspectacular driver, someone you could count on to hold up the number 2 seat to a high level, but not championship quality. But with the intelligence he's shown this season, and consistency too, I now fully think he can be championship quality. He definitely doesn't have the raw pace of Leclerc, but I think he makes up for it in other areas. As a Ferrari fan, I bloody love our line up.

    • @BVMT
      @BVMT 8 месяцев назад +23

      Thing is, Sainz is a fucking genius.
      Which also means that he is already thinking about other teams, which can give a car he wants and also be the number 1 driver at.
      Leclerc is Ferrari's No.1, no matter how good sainz is, He'll defo start looking for other options and not stay in the sinking red ship.

    • @rulifaller8474
      @rulifaller8474 8 месяцев назад +1

      Intelligence can help when you have equal pace as the guy you are fighting. It will not help you over a season when you are simply quite a bit slower.
      Your line up would honestly be better if Leclerc was fast and intelligent and Sainz slow and passive (I think there is nothing wrong with Leclercs IQ, it is just his passive mindset) Spreading the qualities around would be fun if they were fighting each other in a superior car, or when you are nowhere near the top at all, but otherwise it is better to have 1 complete driver)

      He has really proven me wrong. I thought he was lucky to get the Ferrari drive after beating a rookie Lando (but losing in quali h2h if I remember rightly!) and being beaten by both Max and Daniel in the past... But start of 2022 aside he has looked the real deal. Not quite the fastest but definitely a solid driver worthy of a top seat.

      If you look up to the 2010s decade in F1. How many diffrent World Champions you had there. Only three. That shows that the best will always take the World Championship title, when they can do so. It looks like with the driving skills Verstappen got. He will claim a lot of World Championship title. Maybe Alonso will get his third, if he joins Red Bull and fights hard enough for it, just like Rosberg did against Hamilton. Leclerc I think might get one or few Championship titles, when Ferrari makes competitive and reliable enough car, that dosent brake down, but for Rusell, Norris and Piastri. I dont really see any of them winning World Championship title in the future. Rusell seems to mess it up always chasing car behind and then crashing and he just seems not to be as much up in pace to win World Championship title. Norris on other hand is driving for McLaren, that I dont see winning World Championship title, but his fast driver, but I dont think his really up in pace with Verstappen and Alonso to win World Championship title, when most of his podiums come with somewhat luck, when the other big teams mess up with something else. Piastri I think is the same thing, when he just seems little bit worse, than Norris and so I dont he either will have the capability of winning World Championship titles. Russel, Norris and Piastri I see, that all of them might win races, like Coulthard did back in the day and many others, but not be good enough to challenge for the World Championship, because only the few best drivers of each generation takes the World Championship titles with pure determination to win most of their races to achieve it. In earlier generations the World Champions were Häkkinen and Schumacher, Räikkönen and Alonso, Hamilton and Vettel and now it seems it will be Verstappen and Leclerc, while great drivers like Rusell, Norris and Piastri might just some race wins in their career, but wont get them in constant basis, that they could fight for the Championship title of some specific year, when you need close to ten wins in single season to be even able to fight for the Championship title in the first place.

    The most insane thing about all of this is that Lewis and Max both have an above 50% rate of podium finishes in all of their races (59% of 330 races and 52% of 183 races), with Lewis even having a 31% P1 finish rate and Max having a 28% P1 finish rate. For example Alonso is the only current grid driver that comes close with a 28% podium finish rate across all of his 378 races.. And maybe Leclerc with a 23% podium finish rate at 123 races..
    Either way it's quite the grid in the making!

    The difference between Leclerc and Sainz is that Sainz isn’t afraid to go against orders. Sainz has experience in different teams and uses that to his advantage. He knows how Max, Daniel, Hulkenberg, Lando and Charles all operate and he uses that to his advantage. And people don’t give him enough credit. If he pretends that he's racing for p3 and that "you wanna see p3" and that he doesn't have to worry about the title and just take it one race at a time, he'll probably put it on the front row, get podiums every race, win enough to be in the title fight or even win it.

    Great video!
    Let's also not forget that Lando and Charles have gotten better with EVERY single season they've driven which tbh I don't think can be said for a lot of other drivers in the same way as those two. Lando's development has perhaps been a bit more obvious in some ways (bar 2022) considering they came with better results- but LeClerc also this season has been quite polished imo, perhaps that raw speed that we saw in 2022 isn't being displayed the same way, but he is in control of that car now and he's clearly still very quick on one lap. Lando has just made massive gains in every aspect of the sport compared to where he was in even 2021, he's more consistent, faster both in race and quali (arguably can match LeClerc in qualifying SPEED), tyre/ERS management and more. Honestly you look at a performance like Brazil this year where Max and Lando arguably had the same race just in different qualities of cars. Charles has already proven he can match Max also, he just needs that bit of refinement in races that both Max and Lando have. These 3 IMO are unquestionably going to be legends of the sport given the right car.
    ALSO: Only reason why I'm not mentioning for example Piastri in this is simply because he's only had one season so far, and whilst I do believe he'll absolutely get there too I don't want to contribute too much to fans maybe expecting too much too fast- not that I think he won't necessarily be capable of it.

The others don’t have this yet, nor the willingness to hold position alongside Max into a corner, and the collision that might come with it. Even Lewis would back out before Silverstone, the turning point of 21.
    The talent of the younger drivers is evident… but not yet the mettle.

    A Max, Lewis & Fernando podium, from Qatar on, would have _twelve_ champions on it. For someone who has watched F1 nearly forever, including the days of Senna, Prost, Lauda & Piquet, that's still awesome.
    Don't knock today's racing, even if there's the odd dull race (mostly due to lousy broadcasting forcing us to watch those up front doing not so much while missing the awesome scraps further back!), you're seeing the best there's ever been (as a whole grid. Barring a small, er, _junior_ handful...).
    This is especially true if we start "counting" from the early days of F1 cars looking like today's ones - around 1970, give or take. (We can't compare the bathtubs on wheels of Fangio and Clark to even Chapman's first winged design, but especially not to the really familiar "flying cheese wedge" that is obviously the first real attempt at ending up with today's cars and which I'm thinking about as that start for comparison.)
    There was that purple patch of a few years with the above-mentioned 4 champs fighting over nearly every win, but it didn't last long. Prost started his run of success as Lauda's wound down. Senna started winning during Prost's final years, etc. But if you look at the calendars back then and now, and look at the physical toll a single race will take on even today's fittest driver, and so on, I'd say that - without taking an ounce of respect away from the oldies, and definitely not denigrating their talent in the slightest! - today's divers are by far the fittest _and_ smartest throughout the grid than at any other time in history. I promise I'm not saying the older guys weren't fit or smart, they just weren't dealing with quite the G-forces and computerisation.
    They have to do so much in every lap of the race now. E.g. changing the brake bias at 200+mph while rapidly approaching the corner they need to have the brakes ready for; working out how best, under less-than ideal racing conditions (e.g. battling to protect their position), to regenerate the battery, and so on. (Or if you're Fred, giving your team mate praise from watching him on the big screen _whilst_ doing all of the above!)
    The nearest "job" I can think of that these supreme specimens of fitness in mind & body could probably do as well would be a fighter pilot in one of today's complicated machines. At war. Behind enemy lines... Ironically, many of F1’s first stars had been in their country's air forces during WWII
    We owe these people, from whatever time, our deepest respect for genuinely putting their lives on the line in the name of our entertainment! This includes those at the back of today's grid because they're doing something that very few of us here would be capable of doing.

    Really weird thumbnail. Hamilton doesn't belong in the new generation and Verstappen is missing. I also would not call the RB19 the best car of all time. Verstappen is just far more consistent at delivering results than Mercedes drivers ever were with their even more dominant cars.
    Leclerc's pole positions are great; Verstappen manages to convert most of those to GP wins. I think the long contracts for unproven drivers such as Leclerc and Norris have made the driver's market stale.
    Russell is doing a bad year through some bad luck and some incredible foolishness of attempting to be a teamplayer next to Hamilton. Doesn't work. He should just attack Hamilton wherever. Either he saves his career by beating Hamilton or he ruins his career by playing nice and letting Hamilton's top results limit his maximum.
    Look, Jensen Button of all people could become a world champion. Checo is right to believe he can become one too. In contract to Russell, Perez should learn to accept that he is not Verstappen. Then he can focus on his own driving. Score some victories.

We’ve had four different teams in “second place” at various points this season, and three of them (Mercedes, Maclaren, Ferrari, Aston Martin) have first-rate driver pairs, including two world champions. Without Max throwing the numbers… we’ve had, what, six different drivers take second place? Lewis, Lando, Fernando, Charles, Checo, Oscar. Carlos has a win (and Oscar a sprint win), the only non-RB wins this year. And we know George is capable (and had a win last year in a season nearly as RB-dominant). The only driver in the four non-RB competitive teams who can’t cut the mustard is Lance Stroll.

    Hi Aldas!
    I’ve been watching your videos for more than a year from now and I like the way you analyze F1
    Regarding Checo, while he’s probably not a World Champion level driver, he’s capable to compete against them and beat them sometimes. Let’s keep in mind that the second RB seat is the hardest one on the grid, Checo’s garage and engineers are not at the same level of Max’s team and he’s driving a car suited and developed for Max (something that Albon, Gasly and Ricciardo experienced in the past)
    Considering all of these facts and evaluating Checo’s overall performance at Redbull from 2021 until now, I think he has done an amazing job as a second driver supporting Max and the Team, getting all the objectives he was hired for 🙏🏼. On the other hand, yes, this 2023 season has not been very consistent and Checo has made some mistakes not common in drivers with his experience, however, he’ll most likely end the 2023 season in second place and will be the first ever driver to get the 1-2 for Redbull 🙌🏻
    I agree that Checo is better than most people think and this season, he did not show everything he’s capable of, but definitely, he can drive at any top team as a second driver or as a first driver in mid competitive teams such as Aston Martin or Williams

Like I would argue we currently have at least 5 or 6 championship calibre driver, with still world class talents all the way down the grid (the likes of Albon, Tsunoda, maybe Lawson if he gets in and keeps his form). With relatively equal cars, theres a potential for an absolutely immense title fight, in a few years time we could end up with Verstappen, Lawson(?), Leclerc, Sainz (?), Hamilton, Russell, Norris, Piastri, and Alonso to all end up in race winning cars.

He's not going to do any better at another team. Most of Max's teammates were rookie level and Ric has almost the same record as Perez without always having the best car...

    • @yanikdavid3708
      @yanikdavid3708 8 месяцев назад +5

      Considering the only major mistake that Max made was Jeddah qualifying in 2021 and the only time he wasn't on the podium that year was either when he dnfed or had damage, which was only 4 times the whole year, yes he would be driving the same way even if he was being challenged regularly by another driver. The reason why Max is on another level is not his speed, is his consistency and lack of mistakes (since Monaco 2018 tbf)

    • @rulifaller8474

      He did not make mistakes in 2021, in the most pressure cooker situation you could ever imagine in F1. So why would he make mistakes if he were challenged.
      It IS possible that he would be more aggressive if he is challenged, less polished in battle. Now he is just very calmly passing people because he is superior, that might changed when challenged.

    How is Carlos not champion ship level?? If anything I think he’s a little more championship level than Charles(coming from a Charles fan). His calm and collective nature to make rational decisions during the race to get the best results has helped get Ferrari they’re only non Redbull win in 2023. Especially with Ferrari not having good race strategies.

      @HassenCans Carlos does have the same speed as them. He’s shown many times how brilliant of a driver he is. His performances just go unnoticed because of spotlight on the talented young rookies we’ve had in recent years, for example, Charles, George, Lando, etc. I would say now that he’s in his prime and give him the right car and team. People will really see that he’s not just some number 2 driver🤷🏾‍♂️.

      @HassenCans The car being dominantly oversteer isn’t the reason why redbull have a good car. The reason why is because Adrian Newey is an expert at ground effect cars which of course Redbull is gonna be way ahead of the curve than everyone else. Correct me if I’m wrong but the w11 wasn’t really oversteery. The aerodynamics of the chassis complemented the engine and with Mercedes innovation of the DAS made it the fastest f1 car to this day.

    One of Leclerc, Russell and Norris will definitely not be a world champion. All three of them may have to wait for a while until Verstappen and Red Bull are no longer at the top. After that, it depends on which of their teams get it right and who their teammate is. I see Max beating them in the same team, same with Hamilton. Even if that is not the case, it could very well be that one of them either never gets a shot at the championship, or only one shot and them missing out that season. It's hard for all to become champions with that level of competition.

    • @pear4576
      @pear4576 8 месяцев назад +1

      Honestly Russell his attitude compared to the other 2 sucks. He has a hard time taking responsibility for anything and his attitude in general makes him for me less likely to win until he matures. Attitude reflects someone's ability too, and someone like Russell just imagine him complaining over and over about someone turning in on him and then winning the Championship. Something wouldn't feel right lol. Leclerc and Norris are much more mature in that regard and I'd like to see them win over Russell any day.
      Then again, at this point it's hard to imagine anyone beating Max for a while. His driving is so consistent that even without the most dominant car unless you consistently finish 1st he's probably still gonna win the Championship just by taking points when you DNF or have a bad qualifying or smth.
      It's exciting to think of who could be the next Champion though. The earliest I'd see it happen is 2026... Just, Hamilton maybe if Mercedez has a good car and he sticks around, or maybe Norris or Leclerc. Just exciting. But honestly, it could still be Max anyway.
