I think booth Ferrari Drivers deserve more respect
Carlos made a huge step forward in terms of pace and fighting - he was incredible hard to overtake this season - and of course his masterclass in Singapur
Charles incredible pace again - second most poles behind Max, his tire management, the overtakes he pulled (Vegas, Japan) - just the best overtaker - so strong under breaking and positioning his car - and the leader he became in the last couple of races

Qualifying P12 and finish P4 is less impressive than quali P1 and finish P4 for me. From another stuff, Pierre has an underrated season for me. He had measure of Ocon for 90% of the time. Sainz was good, but the win doesnt make him better than Charles right away. Alonso struggled a bit when the car wasnt great That’s why ive got him at P4 (i have to admit tho that he was really solid, just lacked something) and the brazil weekend was perfection.

Top 4 are obvious picks this year, Max, Fernando, Lewis and Lando were a big step ahead of their teammates on raw pace and consistency all season. 5th could be argued to go to Albon, Leclerc, Piastri, Sainz, Gasly, or Hulkenberg.
I'll give it to Gasly partly because he made very few mistakes and beat Ocon, who I rank higher than other people would and consider to be a top-tier driver, and partly because he showed the maturity off track (which he lacked at RB) to work well with a new team (and Esteban). Albon has been really impressive at Williams, but I need to see him alongside a real teammate to know if its all him or partly the car. Piastri was really promising for a rookie, but whenever tyre deg was a factor he couldn't keep up with Lando. Sainz got a win, and Leclerc got 5 poles, but both made a lot of mistakes and never really challenged Max as they could've. Hulkenberg was incredible in what he drew from easily the worst car of the year, after a significant break, but the Haas was too dreadful on Sundays to know how good he really was this year.

This is such a tough task because it depends (for me) on what I expected.
    Top 5 best:
    1. Verstappen
    2. Alonso (This is vintage Alonso, and just very impressive)
    3. Hamilton (I was kind of shocked that he could have finished P2 in the standing, because there hasn't been much talk about him this year. I think he had delivered many very solid races, but always been overshadowed by somebody else.
    4. Piastri (This is because I rate Norris as a potential championship contender, and while Piastri was very good, he has massively exceeded expectations. He even got a sprint win. I cannot wait to see what Piastri will do next year)
    5. Albon (single-handedly beat Haas, Alpha Tauri and Alfa Romeo, massive drives like in Canada. And just super solid performances)
    Runner ups: Norris and Lawson
5 worst (1 being the worst)
    1. De Vries (much hype and just never seemed to get comfortable. And this was made much worse when Lawson came in and showed how it is done)
    2. Sergeant (Very tough first year, but I didn't think he showed enough to earn a seat for next year. He was so so impressive in quali sometimes, think Jeddah. But he made track limit vialations that ruined everything. And I don't think he improved enough during the season. I expect he will have a tough next season as well)
    3. Magnussen (out qualified by Hulkenberg, the car was just shit and I expected more from Kevin)

I would have put Leclerc somewhere. Outperformed his car and teammate pretty consistently if you remove things not in his control (strategy, mechanical DNFs). He was not perfect as he qualified poorly in a couple of GPs first half of the season but other than that he was on point. -Mclaren 16.7 pts from Silverstone onwards

I'd put Lewis and Fernando in 2nd spot interchangibly, although Aston's both highs and lows were more in the extreme, having Stroll as a team mate and having a car capable of podiums after a decade definitely hyped Alonso up. The bad thing with having a bad teammate is that you can't really rank the car and the driver accurately because you never know if a driver extracted the most out of the car in the race or in the qualifying. Lewis has made a few more mistakes than Alonso, but I'd say his pace and racecraft enabled him to minimize his mistakes.
I still accept putting Lewis in the 3rd position, only for the qualifying tho. Lewis himself admitted that he was not up to par with his own standards, and there were quite a few races where qualifying below George caused him trouble. It's incredibly obvious that he has one of the best race pace in the field, imo only second to Max for this season, but he hinders his own results through qualifying. Biggest proof for this was Singapore, which was the lowest he has been since Jeddah this year, because he was aware that he probably missed the only chance for a win that year, and this was proven in the race day when he had a 0.6 difference in race pace to George with the same type and age of wheels(this still haunts me to this day. Watching George hunt down Charles through clear air was exhilarating, realizing that Lewis was closing the gap between him and George was terrifying.)

I think it's partly Lewis' age. Age take it's biggest toll at all out qualifying, or maybe it's just the W14 being crazy. However, I think Fernando has more "magic" moments this season compared to Lewis.

The fact he could catch up to Alonso and be only 20+ points away from Lewis despite having a car that (at best) was capable of taking home 2 points a weekend for the first 9 rounds of the season. Yeah Alonso's car was inconsistant throughout the middle of the season, but he was still picking up p7-8 every weekend which is over 3× what Lando's car was taking home every weekend fir the first half of the year. The fact he could catch so much says a lot. And while people may claim he bottled pole or a race win, thats the same as what Alonso and Hamilton did too.

@@gameofender4463 No, he was in a car that was equally capable of getting p3/p2 along with Ferrari and Mercedes. Anyone who says that McLaren was inherently quicker has been watching a different sport to me, bcs Merc and McLaren were so close in the second leg of 2023, and Ferrari were MILES clear of both going into the final 3 rounds. And don't forget, that Aston was the secind best car along with Merc and Ferrari for the start and in segments throughout the middle. Regardless of car performance, you cannot deny that Lando absolutely smashed it. Being 100+ points behind with 14 rounds to go and ending just 1 point behind is an INSANE effort regardless of pace.
Edit: Also, tbf that McLaren was dog at Netherlands, Monza, Vegas and was slower than the Merc in Abu Dhabi.
The fact that were it not for a bad pit stop, Lando probably would've been p4 in the WDC bcs he and Russell were the exact same pace (the only thing that built the gap was that Russell got through one car of traffic a lap before Lando did bcs Lando was too far back to get it done having had his bad pit stop).
While the McLaren was definetly at the top of the field at some races, it was dog at some as well. So really we're talking a 100+ point recovery at around 10-11 rounds, which is remarkable...

Thanks to AjaySharma for writing a complete list to view and ponder. My problem is that 10 or so of the drivers will never ever in a million years get into the top 10 let alone top 5. Why are they still in F1? I’m sure there are better drivers out there. It is a Members Club about making money. The Championship standings give the definitive answer of the result For This Season apart from Checo who has “lucked into” a fabulous car. Swap Checo out for Lando and that’s about right. I cannot believe you had Charles in sixth? He and Verstappen are top of the pile on talent.

I think Sainz should be here somewhere, he's the only man in a non Redbull to win a race this season and the sole reason we didn't get a clean swipe from Redbull this year

True! Sainz had a good season. He mostly have really good weekends but some mediocre weekends here and there. A bit better consistency and he becomes a world class driver. I could see him drive with Max once again in red bull if ferrari can't offer him a championship-winning car by the end of his contract after next season.

my top 5 (in no order)... Norris, Albon, Alonso, Sainz and (sadly) Max... Albon has completely outperformed that Williams, Lando has been brilliant except for a few mistakes but he'll get that win and maybe even that champion eventually, Alsonso has had an amazing season in a car that got worse, and Sainz as the only non-redbull race winner...
