I can easily say that this is one of the best and clearest tutorials i have ever watched.
Indeed!
100000%
I agree 100% !
Oh my god this video is perfect. It has exactly everything that I needed to learn, it’s straight to the point, the directions are clearly spoken, and you explain every step. I only wish I found it sooner!
Nice Matt you do good job ok
...yes god.
Does this have to be done with bones? Can't the geometry be used in a hierarchy and constraints?
This should be the GOLD standard of what tutorial videos should be. Very clear & concise, perfect tone & voice. Thank you so much!👍👍👍
You're very welcome!
Out of many many tutorials, this one is THE best. Great explaining with as simple as possible steps that are easy to follow. Great job and thanks!
Glad it was helpful and thanks for watching!
Agreed.
I've watched tutorials, but yours deserve a standing ovation, this deserve thousands likes and follow, YOU NAILED IT
It’s wild that this is the *only* video I’ve found that clearly shows how to connect individual armature bones to a pre-constructed mesh. Normally, when I find these rare 1-of-1 videos, everything about it is crap. Terrible microphone, can’t understand what the person is saying, 480p. It’s brutal. This 17 minute tutorial is perfect 😢 I hope other content creators find your channel and find inspiration in your abilities dude. Thank you to the max for sharing this!
This is THE definitive IK tutorial for beginners. It literally solved all the issues I was having with my rig and solved the issue four other tutorials could not. Thank you.
awesome dude, u helped me so much with this video. i always tried with an armature that was always deforming my model and stuff instead of just rotating the elements on the bones... thank you. keep it up!
Thanks for makibng this awesome tutorial for free ❤
just found a button saying "Auto IK"
damn than you somuch!!! slow and stedy tutorial was really helpful!!!
I'm surprised you didn't make those pistons with Geometry nodes.
Well I decided to do something a bit more old school 😊
So much information packed into this video, and clearly explained! Thank you!
You're so welcome!
that looks like a longer video than your average, appreciate the effort, i'm personally interested in better rigging
bro this tutorial literally solves every problem ever occuring for simple mechanical rigging. this is simply perfect.
Thanks
Thanks Johnny! This was a fantastic video. Have tried to get into IK a couple of times, and the tutorials just didn't explain it as clearly as you have with this! Keep up the awesome work :)
Thanks for the kind words Brady!
This is the most sensical tutorial I've seen on IK/rigging. Thanks for making this, I learned a lot!
Excellent Tutorial, thank you!
IK stands for Inverse Kinematics... whew, had to look that one up on my own!
This is an insanely good tutorial. Thank you so much for making this so clear and easy to follow!
Thanks for the kind words, I’m glad you found it so helpful!
This video explained everything I needed to know and has helped tremendously, Thank you.
Excellent explanation. Thanks.
You are welcome!
Thank you so much. At the time I'm writing this, I'm just starting to make assets for my game and this explains bone IK in a non-scary way.
This is an excellent tutorial. I'm no longer quite so intimidated by my entry into the world of Blender rigging.
👏♥
come on man.. how dare you say at the end end "i hope this video was helpful" ... do you think we've such a useless time to waste on "other" stuff.. this was awesome .. literally .. I had stuck in this situation for months but wasn't getting time to learn in... You just made it a piece of cake! . you just earn a subscriber and a heart like!
Thanks! Great tutorial
This tut is literally the best one across whole universe. Thank you, mate, you are legend!
You are too kind
This helped me out so much. Thank you man for making this video.
p.s. I just figured out what IK stud for. lol
thank u!!!! I could learn something I didn't know because of you.
Awesome tutorial .really master of rigging in easiest and effective ways❤❤❤❤
Your video helped me a lot as I was looking for an IK way for mechanical parts. Thank you!!
I know i'm doing something OBVIOUS and that you heard hundreds of times. But CONGRATULATIONS on this tut. Straight to te point, Flawless, and cleaner that most of the ones i've seen so far! New Suscriber !!!
Thanks for the kind words. I’m glad it’s helping folks out 😊
Can we set control panel with buttones to control the animation such as video games?
If yes can you make a tutorial for that?
You are the best, thank you :)
Fantastic tutorial. Well explained, clear and detailed. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. This keeps the community alive and growing.
So good, loved how simply you explained such a complicated topic. Thank you
finally i can understand ... I UNDERSTADDND MOUAHAH , great video
This was exactly what I was looking for... ❤ thank you 😊
UPDATE!!!! 1 hour after watching this it hit me, THE FAKIN BONE CONSTRAINS FROM THE FK MINDFRAME FRAKED ME... If i had an ikea desk i would totally hulk smash it , but this thing is sturdy. Thanks for indirectly pointing out my issue.
it takes me 5 hours to make a mechanical rig without wonky rotation, i have not known this feature and i very much regret not researching about it.
This should be the PLATINUM standard! Amazing clarity! Kudos! 💯
Great video thanks. My rig works fine, except when viewing from above, there is one quadrant that causes the elbow to snap down. It's probably snapping to alternate solutions from the runga kutta solver. My last bone is the IK bone and it targets an empty. Any tips?
Thanks a ton for this video. This is gold. Simple and effective.
Maybe I missed it but how did you bring up the 'clear pose rotation' window at 8:26? Thanks! (let me be the 118th person to say awesome tutorial! Bookmarking for reference)
I just ran through an entire course on rigging by a well-known source of Blender courses and it doesn't even come close to the clarity of your videos. Well done, as usual!
so i tried to do this for a bipod on a sniper rifle..now yes this would be easier if i had just FK the animation since the actions were a simple rotate a bracket down, rotate individual legs outwards (joint at the bracket), extend the telescopic legs and rotate the foot on each leg. now as constrains go the first thing i did was i went through the armature and did a bone rotational constraint for the parts that rotated (the bracket, the legs and the foot on each leg) and a location constraint on the telescopic leg part. SO voila my FK is done. next I added a bone so i can setupIK to control all this individual movements in one clean move with one bone and that is where it all goes to feces. I have followed the two methods step by step. It is not working at all for me and idk what i am doing wrong, worse of all i know it is something i am doing wrong and i cant find it and its been chewing at me for 9 days now . 1 fakin task, one retarded bipod 9 days of life . When i add a bone and make sure is not stuck to the armature then i click on one the two folding feet of the bipod, then i add ik constraint to my lone bone. then i try to move the "handdle" bone and its stuck it doesnt move it controls nothing , i made sure that the chain is set i can see the yellow doted line telling me how far the IK controls the armature on that leg of the bipod but i can't get it to move
Im lost, i need help. PLESE HAALPPPP someone anyone HALP, this kind of not knowing doesnt let me sleep literally, like ibe waking up 5-6 am just to search and try to do what i want to do in this case after going to bed at 2 am so yeah 4-5 hours of sleep in the past 9 days and roughly 16 hours for the past 9 days for AGAIN 1 bipod 1 stupid fucking concept that WON"T SINK INTO MY FUCKING BRAIN.
Won"t say that's the best I've watched. Will just say that the only one I understood. Some says there's no bad students, only bad teachers... :)
excellent explanation. Well narrated
I do have one question about the hydraulic cylinders.
Could you not of just used the Damped Track constraint for each side of each cylinder instead of bones?
I don't see where the bones are functional except to align the two parts.
Thanks again
Very Clear tutorial, makes it easy to follow. And I love your voice sir, very nice to the ears can listen for hours, unlike other tutorials. Thanks!
an absolutely fantastic turorial. It's perfect for what I need!
Great, clean tutorial, no bullsh!t. Thanks :)
You skip really fast over how to parent the pistons to the armature - mind explaining how to do that? Thank you!
I like the tip for placing the 3d cursor explicitly to a center for when placing the initial armature. But find it out that you zoooooomed way in to position the end of the armature bone. Is there a more explicit way to set the end point of the bone to a 3D cursor?
Awesome! thanks
You bet!
Is it possible to then import this model into Unity, keeping the rigging and bone constraints?
Thank you so much for this tutorial, your a lifesaver.
When I rotate the bone in pose mode it deforms my mesh, do you know how to fix this problem?
I can't parent the two piston bones. They are all in the same collection. It's driving me up the wall. Brilliant tutorial though.
Hi - This is an awesome tutorial but i couldnt find the model files on your gumroad. Any chance you can share them so I can follow along?
Best tutorial I found about rigging. Please make more tutorials about rigs
Thank you so much johnny your tutorial always help me
🤩🤩😎👌👍
Thank you! Realy nice tutorial. Best i have seen on the topic 🙂
Is the first bone added when you make an armature special or something? I assume not because not even 1 single person has ever said this in these 'tutorials'.
This is perfect and now I know what and how to rig other things.
The first bone never ever worked it just moves the whole thing...
Perfect video! Thank you!
very well explained. thanks
any idea why my model changes shape when i move it around?
great tutorial but for some reason when i try to move the bone at 10:02 it refuses to move, any advice?
Exactly what i wanted! Thanks a lot!!
wow top 5 best tutorial ive ever seen !
Wow thanks
This is not just one of the best rigging/IK tutorials, this is THE BEST tutorial out there! Thank you very much for this!
Thanks ! Great tutorials
Glad you like them!
One of the best bone videos I've seen. I learned lots of new information. Thanks.
You’re welcome! I’m glad it’s helping folks out.
"Cursor to Selected". Thank you
Great explanation. Thank you
You’re very welcome!
💪🦾
I know everyone else has pointed this out already, but what an extremely good tutorial. I watched so many IK rigging tutorials and this was the only one that clicked everything for me.
You should use an "empty" as the IK target not a bone.
I'm a year late here, but excellent video man.
thank you so much, great tutorial
I am having an annoying problem. The 'make parent' menu, in 3:40, is greyed out for me. I tried the same steps in Blender 3.3 and 3.4 in Linux and Windows, same thing happens. I am following all the steps the best I can, but I really can´t find where my error is. There is just one occurrence like this in Google, and it is not related to my problem. Thank you and congratulations for your great tutorial!
Solved. Need to select both bones and press Ctrl + J before going into edit mode. I must have missed some step.
best lesson for ik
🙂
This what I needed to get a Stirling engine to work
This is a fantastic tutorial! Definitely the easiest i've ever had rigging explained and shown to me! One issue I have though: my hydraulic cylinders lag behind each other and don't damp track effectively because of the cyclic dependancy that's created when they both track to each other. How did you avoid this?
I've looked at sooooo many videos trying to learn this. your pace and full description of why you do thing make the the best video I've ever seen.
Thanks so much! I’m glad it was helpful to you 😊
This tutorial is too perfect.
I highly recommend bone layer manager add-on
Great tutorial. Thanks a lot!
thank you ! i learned today ..good video
Thanks YOU Very very very much so much ❤
Simple and perfect explanation
Glad it was helpful!
BEST tut i've found in the past 2 years of searching , would you consider doing another skinning/rigging a full coilover 4-link suspension on an offroad truck, including the parenting all the way from front steerable solid axle all the way to the body... trying to setup a model i've built for snowrunner/ farming simulator but parenting the bones correctly as well as limiting constraints get frustrating....
😳 I’d have to do some research to understand how to do that myself!
Thanx for this tutorial!
2:07 You don't need to go into and out of Pose mode like that, selecting the applicable mesh in the outline selects it, at which point you can parent just the same, but quicker.
That being said, the rest of it is excellent, the limits for mechanical rigs is an excellent function no other video I've seen has discussed them.
