    The steeplechase is a killer event. It saps ur strength and u must keep concentration especially when the fatigue sets in, when going over the barriers. A lot of them fall at the water jump. U have to be very strong to attempt this event.

    This video is spreading false misleading news. Tunisian Hbiba Ghribi was not 2nd ; she won the gold medal because Zaripova was found guilty of using dope! Russian Zaripova was stripped of the gold medal she illegally took !

While it's great for Ghribi to go down in the record books, she was robbed of the 'in the moment' glory that being the first Tunisian female to win an Olympic Athletics gold medal would have brought.

    Notice how the Kenyans and Ethiopians stayed together. When you race with the people you practice with you tend to run the same times. The other Russian teammate couldn’t even finish the race. That tells you something was off already.

    The water jump is full of piranha fish and if they are too slow, their feet will be eaten.. This keeps the athlete's on their toes and also it gives them more speed because, when they jump over it, some frogs jump into their pants! :-)))

      +Kaylee Apple yea its for when the distance runners get tired, normally everyone jumps over it, but in the high levels like the olympics they don't need water during the race, so they just step in it

      the water jump is a jumo that happens once every lap. the point is basically to help you push forward when going over yhat hurdle

    TehAfroNinja100 and AlanVonShankster: The IOC did produce multiple feeds for athletics. There was one solely for track events and one each for whatever field events were happening, plus one general feed that jumped around with commentary. Since the dedicated feeds did not have commentary, they probably decided to only post excerpts from the general feed on the youtube channel.

    This has to be the weirdest Olympic event. I didn't even know about it until just now haha. Heard the name but didn't know it involved splashing into a puddle after going over one of a puny few hurdles on a long track.

    ive always wondered why the distance runners were so skinny than the short distance but I’m pretty sure it has something to do with the short distance runners needed more muscle to boost themselves and go faster? please correct me if im wrong
