    Looking back now it’s sad to see a doper win the event. Though they let her keep her medal because she tested positive in 2017 not 2016, the ladies in second and third and probably the saddest in fourth deserved to be higher on the podium.

    • @alanoconnor737
      @alanoconnor737 4 года назад +20

      Agreed, it's ridiculous she gets to keep the medal. Yes she tested positive in 2017, but we all know she was doping here too. I think if you're caught doping and there's irrefutable evidence that it was deliberate then they should scrub all results for a few years both before and after the offence. There needs to be a proper deterrent. Hyvin Kiyeng had an Olympic gold stolen from her and will never get this moment back.

    I was a big Linford Christie fan when I was growing up. He was the best British sprinter at the time but was nowhere near world-class. All of a sudden, around the age of thirty, he started beating the world's best. I remember thinking at the time, I wish this could be true -- because Christie had always been my hero -- but I didn't believe he could make that kind of jump, more or less overnight, without some kind of help from the pharmaceutical industry. When he eventually returned a positive test, I lost my love of the sport.
