Meow's been working on a stable update for DSAS to account for all the new animation framework Armored Core 6 introduced. If you want to support the development and even participate in early testing, go check out Meow's patreon: www.patreon.com/Meowmaritus
Technically speaking, the "eye" of the satellite is actually treated as its back half. Its default orientation has the platforms facing forward, and its arms are able to swivel around to be in front of either side. It's hard to imagine what a fight against the satellite would actually look like, but we can confidently say there would be a lot of lasers involved.

As in other Fromsoft games (and games in general) there probably is more cut content from the end of the game than from other parts. Y'ever think about what it would be like to live among the low-level personnel on one of these giant laser superstructures? Like, you're eating lunch in Employee Cafeteria 6B, when suddenly the room shakes and you aren't sure why. But someone in a gymnasium on the other side of the station saw a giant laser zip past the window, so eventually word gets around that the station fired at something.
Contrast reality, where firing the laser would definitely be a whole _thing_ with days of preparation and miles of red tape attached, so by the time it happens everyone is already expecting it.

Scifi settings like these typically have them designed as entirely automated, there is no personnel on them. Even just sticking to AC that's how it's been with the Assault Cells of 4th Gen and in 3rd Gen the orbital bombardment systems controlled by IBIS, DOVE from vanilla AC3's counterpart, that enforce the titular "Silent Line", destroying anything that tries to enter the territory surrounding the second Layered subterranean colony.

What I'm really hoping for is prequel DLC instead, because I have far more questions when it comes to that. What really happened before the first Fires of Ibis? Who is Assistant No. 1? Were Professor Nagai's warnings received by the entire Institute or only a select few? How did Walter and Carla grow so close together and form such a strong bond that he entrusts her with his last will in the event he dies? Who are the "fallen friends" that Walter and Carla keep mentioning and what were their stories?

Prequel would be much cooler to me - the mystery of 621 going to Rubicon in the first place isn't answered, Rubicon Research Institute scientists that were around the triggering of the Fires can be found dead in their ACs, we don't even know the names of two of 'em. Even a story where we don't play as 621 but learn the beginning of a fire so large it consumed a star system.
New main story paths in the main game would alter the story we've already played and learned, then deny those alterations to anyone who doesn't buy the DLC lol. There'd be two slightly different main stories of AC6 instead of one if the DLC modifies the main story paths. A part of me doesn't like the idea lol

One thing I noticed about this satellite, is that the big red eyeball on it is very similar to The Eye laser cannon on the Strider. This video shows they are clearly very different sizes. But I think that confirms that the RLF somehow got their hands on some PCA tech when they were arming the Strider.
It would explain why all the rest of the RLF's weapons, which are made by BAWS, are ballistic, but The Eye is a laser. Because we all know how much the PCA loves their big blue deathrays.

As it is now, Raven just flies up there and starts the fight with no exploration before the final boss fight, so maybe they meant for you to end the game on the first thing that attacked you at the beginning of the game.
