Same here. It was about the time that this game came out that I began to take an interest in post-apocalypse movies and themes. I would have preferred a post-apocalyptic wasteland over the boring small town I was in. I've become especially interested today, since that's where we seem to be heading.
So true. Technos had a lot of great cover art, sometimes the Japanese versions got better art though. Konami and Capcom also had a lot of great covert art over the years.
@@kumiliarostreamsarchives3079 What a great idea. I'd love to have this as a poster. I remember staring at the ad for this game in Nintendo Power, it was just the cover art blown up to fit on the page. Doesn't get much more classic than this artwork.
4:38 Wasted oppurtunities to hit enemies while they're jumping out of the helicoptor, they fall straight down the gap between the ladder and the door you can see on the left.
So many hours of entertaiment from this .... i used to put (2 player B mode) and Kill-off Billy Lee to have 9 lives as Jimmy Lee and avenge Marian by myself 😅
I feel sick. As a kid I would lose so many lives at 9:34 . I didn’t ever think to not use the tracks and jump the gap cause I thought dude wouldn’t make it
Once gave my dad a head's up about pushing down when we enter the doorway as there's conveyor belts on the other side of the door. Unfortunately, I neglected to specify that it only needed to be long enough to get off said conveyor belts, and so he just keep pushing down until he fell off the edge.
This is way better than the arcade and genesis versions and anyone who says otherwise has never played in NES before in the entire life and it's delusional
Marian's hotness index takes a wicked plunge in her NES form, but she's still a lot of fun rescue. It's just too bad that we don't see her get mowed down by a machine gun in the intro - thanks for that, Nintendo!
She's not dead in the japanese version (which is followed the arcade version's storyline) and she even gives instructions on how to play through the game's manual. Link: doubledragon.kontek.net/games/dd3/chardd3nes.html
According to a North American television commercial by the game's publisher, Acclaim, the NES version of Double Dragon II became a million seller soon after its release.
When the sequel first came out, I haven't played it until about 5 or 6 years later, when my mom and dad took me to Title Wave, which is no longer open, and I rented it and played it, just before I outgrew playing the NES. Nowadays, Arc System Works (the same ones responsible for Guilty Gear) owns most of the Technos library.
I didn't know that either. I also thought Million still had the rights. But I have to admit, they did an awesome job with Double Dragon Advance. Hands down the best double dragon remake ever made
I had a good time with that guy at the end of stage five jumping around the train and making him follow me wherever I went. On another note, I think Mike Tyson is behind the flame when the dynamite goes off.
I loved this game. Platform sections were terrible but music and gameplay were great. Shadow masters second theme is still one of my favorite boss tracks.
Hmm. I wonder if there's any difference in difficulty between the US and Japanese versions of Double Dragon II. I played the Japanese version, and on the highest difficulty setting the enemies seem a lot tougher than what's shown in this video. For instance, they're much more resistant to grappling (they'll wriggle out of your grasp unless they're already at
Honestly, this is a really nice and fun game... until you get to the iconic perfect-frame-jump-mansion. Thankfully, the game then redeems itself with the beautiful shining palace, the battle with the ninjas and shadows, the final boss and its music. Good stuff. Also, Marian got some NICE tig ol bitties!!! 10/10 game
Both Double Dragon and TMNT Arcade were never meant to be put on 8-bit consoles, only 16-bit or more like the SNES! Also, Marian on that shot got so jump-scared that she nearly spilled out of her torn-top. She is better known for being a PAWG though.

Marian has a very beautiful belly 0:58. I can't see it the same way now. now she has a great belly well worked out...and I like it. (i mean, River Cit Girls 2) 🥰
This game turns into a total dick by the seventh stage. What was all that vicious platforming about? Even Super Meat Boy would balk at all that! And it's in a fighting game!
I remember I beat this game when i was a kid and it meant more to beat this one than any other game I played, probably cause it was a love story & hard as hell 🤣😂🤣😂
This the second Double Dragon game for the NES and was published in North America by Acclaim Entertainment, who took over publishing duties from Tradewest. The game shares its title with the 1988 arcade sequel to the original Double Dragon, using the same promotional artwork for its packaging and having a similar plot, but the content of the two games are otherwise drastically different. It's a good game, but also had the best cover art. I played this game with either the NES controller or the NES Advantage. So many memories. I own this cartridge.
She also was also gunned down in the opening of the original arcade game. But almost all games of that era involve the rescue of an abducted girlfriend/princess/damsel in distress.
This is why I hated Nintendo and one of the reasons I never got one. I hated the way they always put their own spin on the arcade games and had to have different levels, etc.
It made a lot more sense back then for games, electronic devices and computers to be expensive though rather than the absolutely ridiculous stuff that costs huge amounts of money today. They actually needed to charge those prices to make a profit back then or they would go out of business. Now everything is just a complete scam.
This has the legendary music
But game over music is scary 😂
Just hearing the beginning music of game brings back awesome childhood memories. One of my all time favorite games

Ahh when life was good 😢
3:38 glad to see someone else knock boss 1 off the roof. Always a quick way to beat the level.
Same principle for knocking him onto the spikes @15:36.
Back in 1990 I never died from enemies but always from frustrating jumps which landed me into pits.
Didn't know a english version exist
Not only a great game but also had the best cover art
That cover art is pretty insane isn't it, lol, it's equal parts cheesy and awesome.
I got it at my basement gym as a poster. One of my favorite cover art from the nes era

My favorite game of the series .

When kids had a real childhood! No Internet, no smartphones!
I have more nostalgia for DD1 but DD2 is definitely the better game.
Marian's hotness index takes a wicked plunge in her NES form, but she's still a lot of fun rescue. It's just too bad that we don't see her get mowed down by a machine gun in the intro - thanks for that, Nintendo!
It's ok remember she gets brought back to life in a pyramid in DD III lmfao
She's actually possessed in that game.

I like Marians red dress.
Hard ass game
Yesterday I got this one along with DD1, River City Ransom and Crash n The Boys on Xbox One.
They're all awesome games.
Nothing felt better than round housing someone off building or off the helicopter lol
Oh what a rush
Chale soy el único que comenta en español?? Todavía tengo este juego en mi viejo mes después de ver este vídeo directo a desenpolvarlo para jugar :)
15:07 nightmare! I remember the frustration.
This soothes my nerves with a good ol' 80's style ass kicking
whoever playing this is really 👍
+Vemeshio Hoskin Thanks! :)
Much better than the arcade and mega drive version 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
one of my fav game thanks
my favorite is always the giant muscular baby looking guys. I like they gave them long 70s hair in this one
The long hair is based on Bolo Yeung's hair.

Oh for real? I though it was still Million that held the rights
Not anymore!

Rest In Peace Acclaim Entertainment!

they finally gave abobo hair
The ending 😢💔
Why are you sad? She got brought back to life
this was a DAMN hard game to beat with 2 players my god ,but an all night if trying we pulled it off and it was rewarding
I think III was harder than this one
13:33 lost a life, yo.
Damn! that was the fastest boss fight i have ever seen in a nes game.
This is the playthrough I've been looking for! Cliff throwing and style points! Nice job!
Yeah everyone else does the knee kick!
This is the best gameplay. You played the game with every move not like others who just knows kee kick.
I loved this game. Platform sections were terrible but music and gameplay were great. Shadow masters second theme is still one of my favorite boss tracks.
I’ve played the whole thing in Warrior mode... AND THEN THIS?!
if the black hair giant is abobo then who is that arnie guy?
I'm not sure about this game, but in subsequent Double Dragon games there's a similar large-size guy with that hairstyle known as "Sunny".
I saw on Cornshaq's run of this game he mentioned there was a code that would let you continue after your game was over does anyone know the code?
I was playing this game when I was a 8 years old and I broke two devices because of it, but after I got the third I end stages it
hahahaha
By breaking two devices I'm guessing you had what we call game rage today? LOL

Me as a kid: "Mom when is 19XX"?
Hey! Have you played any of Hamster's Arcade Archives games for the PS4, yet?
Only Rygar and Psycho Soldier, and they were awesome :)
+NintendoComplete Wait, I think Psycho Soldier was a mini on the PS3. So, I guess just Rygar
This game is good
Wait Marian.... She dies then is revealed to be alive.... is this a reference to Raiders of the Lost Ark?

I can Karaoke all the stages' soundtrack! It's so fun 😂😂

I still have my tiger electronics handheld of this too. I got it at "thriftys" back then which became rite aid. And now rite aid is gone .
Nice nice nice nice 👌👍😊☺🙂😌
