Thank you! That means a lot! The odd thing is that I achieved the no “slow down” part on another normal run of the first Double Dragon using MAME. One of the features, among the many of course, was allowing the user to tweak CPU Speed of the board itself that the ROM was running on. The end result pretty much elevates virtually almost all the lag in the entire game! Fast forward to experimenting with MAME - RR (Outdated TAS Tool). This emulator offered no such features. At least not to my knowledge. Bare in mind it is a pretty bare bones ReRecord Tool and was an absolute nightmare (at least in my opinion) to do any kind of TAS on! Now we come to the latest version of BizHawk which has the MAME Core built right into it! I think it’s running version .254? Anyways, you can’t make tweaks to this MAME Core either! You can only adjust the actual Bios Settings of the ROM itself! That’s it! Guess what?! No lag! I’m not even sure how the TAS Archives views this at this point? I mean, BizHawk isn’t built that way. You can’t force it from the Users End. Sorry for the rant! I just finally got the opportunity to explain the backstory! 😎

As tight as everything was back then you wouldn't even believe it's the same country now this is living proof that nothing beats the classics better era excellent today's America 🤮 compared to then keep up the legendary speedrun you can see the life brimming in the arcade alone it has more energy than anything today
Yeah, reality is a little different these days. I miss the rivalry in the arcade rooms. It was simply to try and get better than the person on the other controls. Sure, you had those problem peeps from time to time, but nothing like the craziness of these online services. Back then it just felt better to show you could rub their face in the defeat of the match. Such Is Life I Guess.

How solid is bizhawk emulator? I worked on a double dragon 2 TAS a while back. Gave up midway through because of how badly mame performed with dd2. Constant crashing while attempting to save/load from save state😅

@@markfloyd3038, very little, and not at the moment. My setup is almost back up, but I was dealing with the BSOD/Ram Errors from a faulty stick of Ram. Add in 10 hours days at work and that leaves little time to get back up at least from a testing standpoint. I think I also relied more on Savestates for the initial run. Aside from Enemy Placement/slowdown, I would look into possible ways to manipulate Enemy Spawn Points. If it is possible of course. I’ve seen your DD1 runs, so you obviously are no stranger to the normal tricks of saving time in these games. 🤙 Feel free to comb my run as well. There are several places I noticed that could be time savers. Maybe even running the stage an entirely different way.

It also allows the community more opportunities to develop techniques/scenarios in a Speedrun that wouldn't be possible for a person to perform on the spot. However, there have been times where a TAS has shown how a player could improve their Personal Best time in a Normal Speedrun. Of course, any runner should not attempt to use these types of tools, and pass the run off as one of their own. This is a very understood guideline from the community for anyone doing these types of runs. Below will give you good start to research and hopefully I was able to make it make a little more sense! Perhaps it able to perform better when it comes to MAME ROMS/GAMES? I'm not actually sure myself. You definitely have an eye for the classics to notice that speed change for sure! Memories is for certain! I remember playing it as a kid at the beach! It even had the second screen on top for everyone to watch! Turns out, that was an option that was available, but wasn't common! Why is the girlfriend alive in a photo after dude shot here ? Why did you fight a zombie version of yourself at the very end? Sick animations of the sprites. I was wondering about the slow downs was this a hardware issue or something done on purpose like a slow mo hit ?

A fair amount of Arcade games used the method back in the day. Not exactly like Double Dragon, but reusing assets in a new game from an earlier one, to make a new one. Perfect example is Mortal Kombat 3 to Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. You can obviously see it from Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 to Mortal Kombat Trilogy. Think of it as a way of expanding a game without increasing the cost of it. I believe they referred to them as Upgrade Kits? However, The Revenge ended up being a stand-alone game due to this. Check out a game called Renegade. It'll make sense. My example/version of course. 2. Ah yes, the picture that is worth a thousand words, or shall we say questions in this case? I'm not sure what that move was to be honest with you. Especially when the first made that much more sense. The NES Version even went another way with this as well. 3. I would imagine fighting your shadow is referring to ridding yourself of a inner darkness. Being called The Revenge, it makes pretty good sense. 4. Good eye on the slowdown. No slow motion is applied though. This is due to there be too many assets/movements on the screen at one time. So, you are correct, it is due to a hardware limitation. Which is odd when you think of it being on an Upgrade Kit? 😂
Now I see why they made double dragon 3 on arcade and it was a total bust because this one was almost if not 90 percent identical to the first one just different characters as the put an Andre the giant character in from 1989 WWF superstar arcade game,no wonder dd3 looked so different, NES version was good though.
DD3 NES version was great indeed! Couldn't agree with you more! DD2 was actually based off an Upgrade Kit. That is why it looks so similar to DD. For years, I didn't know that, but still wondered why they looked so similar to each other.
