The Protomen Animatic - The Stand (Man or Machine)

- Quite possibly the most work I've ever done on a video yet. This one is for The Protomen fans out there.
Just so everyone is aware, I've put my own version of how the scenario plays out, rather than how it was originally meant to be portrayed from the canon, just for fun. Nonetheless, I hope you enjoy this one as much as my other videos.
Also a big thanks to my wife, for all the support she's given me and for allowing me to have her OCs take part in the video.

The visual callbacks to the Mega Man 8 and Ruby Spears intros are phenomenal. And having Cut Man be the implied "man on the ground" for Wily to make sure Proto Man stays on target is an excellent touch considering how he's the closest to the brothers in creation number next to Roll.

The Megaman Cartoon Intro bit in there
One: absolutely incredible.
Two: Ice Man looks like a Sniffit from Mario.
In the album when Protoman starts singing it feels so powerful and carries such weight. That Batman-esque landing with his cloak conveys that really well. I also like the touch of Protoman noticing Light in the crowd like the original lyric notes describe.
Love it. You did a great job of combining the Classic Mega Man aesthetic with the bleak, oppressive Protomen world. (I like that you combined the Robot Master designs with the ones from that official music video from a while back. Elec Man in particular looks great, and I like how weirdly menacing Cut Man comes off.)
This is impressive.
I always had problems imagining the scene of this specific song, there were so many "dead spaces" on the narrative and it's a blessing you managed to fill them in a good way.
If you're planning to do more, I'll be looking forward, cuz you made a great job here

@Crocky when I hear "dead spaces in the narrative" that makes me wonder if they read the story attached to the lyrics (especially when the lyrics are not on all the songs on spotify). Without the lyrics, there are some big jumps and things you wouldn't know if you listen to just the songs or read the wiki page, hence my asking
@@l3R0K3N8BIT There are still gaps in the lyrics that are hard to put on an animation. Even following them you still get those dead spaces.

I love this? I especially love how you show Blues' feelings through his sweeping motions as opposed to facial expressions and how Rock shows his emotions through his face? And the reveal of the scar from his battle and then showing when he was like rock and MWAHHH

The Protomen songs deserve to be animated soooo bad. Thank you for doing this, it is exactly how it ran on my head whenever I listen to this song.

I love all of the details; the mixture of normal interpretations and Protomen-specific renditions of the Robot Masters, the art style is pretty nice in my opinion, the battles between Mega Man and several of the others make specific use of what we can see in Mega Man 8 and the Ruby-Spears cartoon, you got Mega Man looking amazing and equally perfect, Proto Man had a hole in his chest that was used amazingly well for the scene, you used Proto Man jumping to line up with the drums kicking in--
There is so much I love about this!!! My only """issues""" I have with this, with three pairs of quotation marks to denote any sincerety, are that I'm not sure if Cut Man actually does make it out to run away.
That and...I don't really consider this an animatic. Here's why: this is FAR too detailed and complicated and amazingly well-made for me to think of it as an animatic. Then again, I've only seen very bare-bones animatics done, but I'd argue this is closer to an entire music video, and I LOVE it no matter what this is.
If this was from just over a month ago and you started over a year ago, this is ABSOLUTELY a good reason to never give up on your dreams!~
Waking up in the morning to see this puts a big smile on my face. I am happy that my video got so much love from the Megaman community and that all that time and work was worth it.

Very late to the party, but as a super longtime fan of the band I can't thank you enough for this. Legitimately made my night, we eat very rarely in this fandom. I hope there continues to be more Protomen content from the fanbase in the future such as this
The designs are fucking FANTASTIC for a cyber-punkish, Megaman 1. To say nothing of the second action scene recreating the MM8 cinematic intro through the frames...absolutely fantasic stuff.

So many years ago, almost a decade now, I dreamed of animating Protomen songs like this. Of course I became saddled with debt and stress and so many thing that I was never able to do so. But I am glad that there is some one out there who had the talent and determination to pull it off. Good job, and thank you. This story is far too great to be forgotten!
One day KGN Will come back and finish what he started and will help mega man defeat Dr Wiley but until that day comes we must wait because hope rides alone

Interesting take on the song, incorporating the robot masters and even recreating the Ruby Spears opening for the fight. Definitely glad whenever I see music videos of some kind for the Protomen songs

Today I listened to the first album of the Protomen, I really enjoyed this song in particular but didn't really have a clear vision of what it would look like as an animation that would give it enough justice. This was REALLY good! And I enjoyed it just as much!

Please, make more Mega Man content! You have talent, and the mega man series has stories that are amazing. Ive started writing a podcast about Mega Man, the protomen, and the megas and how the mega man story can help people. But there is a depressing lack of people on youtube talking about this amazing series, and this band. Im sorry to hear life had you down, the same has been happening for me, but Im glad you finished this project, this video helped me love my favorite song a little bit more, i hope it helped pull you up a little bit

I love this, The Stand is my favorite song of the album so seeing your interpretation is really cool
While I do love Protomen, I think that this universe's Protoman is pretty much full of shit and is a self-serving a-hole.
What do he want people to do, throw a tin can? They'll get eviscerated, electrocuted, every bone crushed, frozen into a block of ice, scorched and finally blown into bloody bits if they tried to do anything. Of course, that is the sin of Dr. Light in this universe, he built his son as a tool and sent him to fight. He tried to teach Rock the lesson he failed to impart on Blues but the lesson didn't catch, at least not yet.
