I found that if you equip a fire or ice weapon it'll will change your temperature. So if things got a little chilly, you can pop on a fire sword and be just fine.

Getting back on the game since I haven’t beat it yet and thank goodness I found out about it by accident, saved me the hassle lol
Say you're visiting the hebra region, you don't need to buy any rito armour. I do this all the time it's so useful.
If you hold an apple or carrot in your hands while standing in front of a horse it will eat them out of your hands and raise your bond.
Also, if you feed your horse an enduro carrot it will have extra dashes. Fed the royal horse one and it now has 8 dashes!

You are the first person I've EVER seen to openly say that you can't register the Lord of the Mountain. I've seen tons of videos and pictures of people acting like that's their permanent mount and I'm so glad I didn't waste the time trying to register him yet.
One tip I found out by accident is that if your sailing, and just so happen tp have a metal chest you can magnetize it, and push it against the pole in the center of your raft to make it move like a speed boat.

*Here is a tip for climbing the most distance in rain.*
Count how many times Link's hands grab whatever surface he's climbing. After 4 hit "Jump". You'll cover more distance than what you lose from sliding down. Though this eats through your stamina quickly so it's best to avoid doing this early game.

It depends on how much climbing gear you have equipped - with the full set I count to 8
A few things I discovered were:
-Equipping a fire weapon (eg sword) increases your temperature helping in cold areas (cold weapons have the same effect in warm regions). Also, a fire weapon can be used to light a fire saving flint (Also leaves etc eg in dungeons).
-Another use for a fire weapon is, when you have one equipped, you will melt (albeit slowly) nearby ice such as the large crystal things you find in snow places. Saves on fire arrows.
-When you are hit, there is a small cooldown where you cannot be hit again so, if timed right, you could take a small hit eg a bomb to prevent the larger damage from, say, a Lynel attack.
-When lightning is around and you are fighting an enemy with a metal weapon, let the lightning do the work for you. If enemy has no metal weapon, give one to him.
-When climbing in a cold area, you can wear the cold resist armour, start to climb, change to climbing gear until just before you take a hit, then change back to snow briefly and then back to climbing gear and continue.
-You can destroy ore deposits with normal weapons (maybe everyone knows that but I didn't know until way late in the game).
-Enemies take more damage from attacks if they have been frozen first
That rusted weapon lost 2 points of damage by being cleaned.

rusted weapons in general have more damage than the original but sacrifice durability
But weapons are so common that durability doesn't really matter. I always have a full inventory.

Or if they don't land on flat land. I tried getting to them, and it was on a small ledge of a mountain. The beacon was there, but the star was nowhere to be found. Pretty annoying and a waste of time

@@kylie6645 Armor upgrades, mostly. The ancient armor and armor of the wild need one fragment per piece to upgrade them to level four. Most circlets need a fragment for level three and another for level four. And a bunch of the Amiibo armor needs fragments to upgrade too, but I don't know the details as I don't have any of the Amiibo, yet..
I think I'm ready to buy the game now, I've checked up more than 200 facts about the game.

Today, I was playing and wondered if that would work. One thing that happened with me is that I was using magnesis to drop metal crates onto each other to break both apart... and when I dropped one, lightning hit it and vaporized it in mid-air before it could reach the box on the ground.

Quick tip about Star Fragments: Shooting Stars occur anywhere from 9:00 P.M (21:00 for all you Europeans/Military Time Users out there) to 3:00 AM, and the Star Fragments will disappear at 5:00 AM, but will disintegrate upon contact with water (excluding rain)
I learned that last bit the hard way.

You forgot to mention to not teleport when trying to reach a star fragment, as it disappeared. Same with saving and reloading.

it didn’t go away when i got it the way other day by fast traveling to a shrine near it and it stayed. maybe it has been changed since 2 years ago, lol would make sense.
It’s 3 years later in 2021, so I know every one of these. I just love watching old botw videos, gives me some insane nostalgia. This game is amazing, and I’ll remember it for the rest of my life.

Just got this game yesterday. I know it’s late but I’m having so much fun!
I brought a stahlhorse and the lord of the mountain to the stable once. Their reactions were priceless!
Tip: In case you ever need fire but don't have a source for your torch, or don't want to use arrows, use chu chu jelly. You probably have some tucked away and forever forgotten in your bottomless materials pocket. If not, you can prepare them by dropping chu chu jelly on something very hot (Fire, hot rock, etc.).
When you strike elemental jelly, it will burst with its element (and harm you if you're in range).
PsychoDongYi you can also strike flint with your sword. it creates sparks and a fire.

Shooting star fragment farming guide:
Go to Shee Vaneer shrine (the shrine on the south peak of the dueling peaks). Set up a fire and sit until night. Look EAST toward Hateno Tower. Between the hours of 10pm and 3am, a shooting star will ALWAYS fall in your view. go get it and then go back to shee vaneer and sit until night again, rinse repeat. max you will have to wait is 5 minutes for one to fall.

Those 🌟 fragments are pain in the ass.. always failing to be there on time.. and last one i saw just disappeared.. it went down and left no trace..
Another sort of useful tip is that you can stand on an object that you put knetic energy into (using the stasis ruin) and it will make you fly once the time is up. However it will damage you a little bit so be careful.
That updraft really got me. a game that has these little but deep mechanics and doesn't teach you them is insane!

You know what I did at the start of the day to get a good horse? Cook sourcer bee honey into candy and use that when my stamina is low when trying too mount it. Worked perfectly and had a great horse.

+Damian Kozakiewicz farm ores and sell them, they're super easy to come by. Ruby, Sapphire, Topaz, all that stuff goes for good money :)

sell them because the gems are used for accessories that give stat boosts but you can easily make food or find gear for the same if not better effects and they sell for a good amount of rupees

You will use them later, but they're not super important, and it's always easy to get more :)
For the up draft trick, it doesn't have to be grass, if ur in an area where no grass grows (mountains, non climb able buildinf sides etc) throw down 5 pieces of wood and hit it w a flame weapon. As long as there is a somewhat medium area of fire, u can make a portable updraft
if you shield surf in the sand it doesn't were down your shield
burning a spicy pepper or sunshroom will make an updraft

A few years late but you don't have to necessarily feed the dog fruit. I feed them meat (dogs eat meat) and they still take me to the treasure. I guess both work either way

The only thing I didn't know was the thing about not catching fire as fast when you are dripping wet. The dog treasure and shooting star ones are loading screen tips.

did you know? you can change the type of the chuchu jelly by hitting it with any elemental weapon. Its quite useful for amor upgrades.

Very nice little information bits. Here's one tiny one that I stupidly didn't think about for most of my time so far: Always use sneaking when trying to catch lizards or insects. Even if you sneak while moving at the maximum crouched speed they will not notice you and will be easy to catch (Not remembering this made collecting lizards for a specific sidequest insanely frustrating)
I’m still surprised about how much this game has to offer and it’s only 13gbs!

I found this out yesterday. It may or may not be common knowledge but I thought I'd share.
You know how you have a Temple Tracker? Well you also can assign the tracker to track other things like enemies, food, weapons, and animals. You just have to have a picture of the thing you want to track.
I didn't realize this but Link uses the wild horse's mane to control it
I legit thought he was going to mention the fact that if you're chasing a star on a long distance, you can rest at a bonfire to reset the time, for example, stars disappear at day, so hunt it down until it's close to daytime then set a bundle of wood down, then light it on fire and wait until night, and there, you now have all night to hunt for that star

A quick tip for climbing. if u do not have much stamina go towards cracks and drop then hold up and u keep a bit back works 90% of the time

If you put chu chu jelly on the ground depending on what type it is it will explode in a certain element. Blue chu chu jelly explodes like a water balloon fire makes an explosion etc

i knew all of it because you can read all of these tips on the official guide book.
12 tips and easter eggs I found or saw on other videos that are really useful please read:
1: You can create updraughts by hitting spicy peppers or sunshrooms with fire to get those sweet bullet time snipes if there is no grass. This is also faster.
2: You can cancel the end lag of any attack by jumping. (Jump cancelling). This also works with bomb drops and other things.
3: You can get rid of flames from fire by doing a spin charge attack with a claymore type weapon and cancelling it by pressing b. This is particularly useful if you do not have flame guard potions for the "test of will shrine", just spin attack and quickly cancel it every time you begin to burn (this is a speed running strategy).
4: If you whistle it activates every animals flight response, you can use this to get between fish and the shore, climb up onto a cryonis block and whistle, they will actually drive themselves onto land and you can pick them up.
5:If you use magnesis on a boomerang as it is flying it will keep spinning and enemies will take damage just from touching it.
6: You can get under guardians after stunning them or stasising them and continuously whistle until they deactivate, then quickly whistle run away to escape them leaving them hypnotised if you cannot fight them.
7:You can chain sneak strikes together for massive damage and low durability usage, just crouch walk in front of the enemy after sneak striking and they will flip around and not notice you.
8: You can bait moldougas up to land with daruks defence, then bomb arrow them as they are in the air.
9: If you are running low on arrows go to the smaller island with the lake in it to the south of eventide island(don't touch the island or complete the challenge first).Get the chest there with ten arrows in it then save and reload, everything in eventide reloads for the challenge, even after you complete it, so rinse and repeat. Fastest method for getting arrows in the game.
10: Always cook before blood moons while the red moon is in the sky as you will get critical cooking effects boosting the hearts of the meal or the duration of the bonus effect e.g. stealth up.
11: There will be a royal claymore on the top of the skull on woodland tower, it respawns every blood moon so collect it by climbing up to it, it only takes 30ish seconds to teleport there and get it.
12: There is a low chance silver enemies will drop star fragments, I got one from a silver moblin and lynel.
I appreciate that this video is 3 years old and I am not criticising it (although all of those things are in the official guide), this was just meant to be helpful as in 2020 you may know all of the things in the video.

@@fenlit2949 There are 2 good videos by Gladley Gaming on easy weapon locations if you are interested. But that is my favourite easy weapon to get.
Also when u have a flameblade in your back you will have more heat. So you can now use casual armour on little cold places instead of needing an cold resistance armour part

One does not finish the game fully until alll side quests and all shrines are completed lol

Explore the full map, game is huge. Also saw one in the Hebra area (the real snowy part next to the Rito village)
There are bears in Hickaly Wood, upstream from the Duelling Peaks.
One thing I just found out about now in case it hasn't been said in the comments as a cool tip:
At least for meteor and blizzard rod, they actually have an impact on the surrounding temperature just for wielding them, you don't have to actually use them, so wield a meteor rod and you will melt ice just standing next to it, no need to actually throw fire at it, or just wear it to increase the temperature in cold areas. Haven't tested the blizzard rod in the death mountain/gerudo desert yet tho to see what kind of effect they have over there, I'm presuming there should be a noticeable difference, and idk either about the lower tier variants of the rods and if they have a smaller impact.

Another thing you can ride, if you see it, is the skeleton horse that moblins sometimes ride. That one was pretty fun.

if you have done the zora divine beast main quest, you know you encounter one to get shock arrows. this was my first divine beast quest, so naturally i had 5 hearts at most. died like 100 times, until i figured it out: just grab the arrows and run XD was one hell of a run, but it worked
if you eat something that we gain stamina during or right before the last ditch jump you will game the stamina right away and keep the amount that was in the red and still do the double long jump
I'm so willing to trade my ps4 and get a switch for this game, but I know after I beat Zelda I will probably regret it. This is why I wish I also bought a Xbox one. I woulda sold that shit so quick.

Yeah I struggled in some areas so I mostly used my snakebyte controller since it has a turbo feature. To save you the google if you don’t know it just allows you to make it register holding a button down as rapidly pressing it. Very helpful for calming horses.

Here's something I bet you didn't know about shield surfing, constantly switch between shields immediately before and during the surfing, no shield will take damage. Now there is some margin for error, like maybe you wait 2 seconds to switch shields, it'll still work.
It's sad that I already know all these but don't own a switch or wiiu (but I do have the game I just can't play it)

I got the Hylian sheild really early in the game. You can get Zora armour which increases your speed in water.

I just used the burning arrow method to gather arrows. get a 2x,3x,5x, whatever bow, pull out a normal arrow, light it on fire, and shoot it, rinse and repeat for infinite arrows, well, until your bow breaks, learned it from pointcrow, just remember that you can't have more than 2-3 shots from the bow without picking the arrows up because some arrows despawn, I was able to get 6 with duplex, 9 with a triple, and I haven't tried a x5 yet.

Im surprised you didn’t mention where shooting stats come from. Unless I’m mistaken they are actually scales of a dragon, at night sometimes you see HUGE dragons flying around the sky, on multiple occasions when I’ve admired the dragon through my scope from afar I’ve seen a scale break off it’s body and fall to the ground in the distance. That’s what shooting stars are. Not sure if it’s a scale or something else but it definitely comes off the body of a nocturnal sky dwelling dragon.

This is random, but there's subtle hints through out the music of the game (like the normal music, no town, stable, or other music) that a blood moon will rise that night. You'll hear the music play a much more subtle version of the beginning of the blood moon theme. And then it will go back to normal. If you hear that, make sure to wait before starting a big fight.
When you jump-climb , just don't do it. When just climbing you can get further.

Octorock balloons can be used to lift heavy Items like boulders. You can use similar to the bombs and send over enemies heads from up high and pop it. Or use it like a tool and have balloons lift things off of chests. Saves your weapon durability thats for sure

If
you go to the top of twin peaks mountain you can make a campfire. When you make the campfire rest till morning, and till night. Just wait a bit and a star fragment will drop. You can repeat this process as much as you like. Blood moons do not destroy this process.
Makes me sad I'll never get to play this game.... :(

Solis B psst, if you havr strong pc save up to buy the game instead. cemu emulator manage to get it runned at 15-18 fps, and its only the first build. imagine 6-12 months later with the development. (its wii-u emulator though)
Place a Flint next to pile of wood. Then shoot an arrow to start a campfire. Its useful if you are running low on fire arrows or fire weapons.
didn't know about the octorock cleaning weapons, that's pretty cool. i didn't know about farming arrows with wooden shield's either but their is a major exploit, if you look at the ground after alerting an enemy with a bow they wont hit you but they never run out of arrows.
I've fed dogs 3-4 pieces of meat, and they still found treasure. I didn't know you could do it with fruit. I also just pile the pieces of meat near them, and they eat it one at a time.
im so impressed by the armor and weapon designs they all look so badass
