Thanks John 🙏👊 The galvanized traps seem to hold up and perform better. If you can have the hog rings be stainless, I’d say yes. That’s def one thing you have to check often and would’ve been a great tip to cover in a video.
good job. tip No. 11. call them topless traps instead of collapsible traps! tip No. 12: bring the trap over the boat when there is a crab in there. you'll thank me when that crabs is halfway out the trap and it falls into the boat and not back into the water!
Depends on your area, but I usually get them from Anglers Sport Center. I’ve also gotten them from a few other bait shops in the general area, but I always call ahead to see if they have them before I go to the bait shop.
Great to hear! There’s no substitute for time on the water when it comes to learning 👍 If my wife could make the call, she’d always have me crabbing and I’d never see my precious fishing again 😂
Great video, I recently got into using these traps after years of hand lining and trot lining and honestly they are a lot more fun, feel like deadliest catch sometimes, one thing I’m struggling with is having Excess line in shallow water, do you have any tips for this?
Excess line can def make it a hassle in shallow water. I have some buddies, who when they know they’ll be crabbing shallow water, will either have traps set aside with shorter lines, or they’ll roll up and secure a good length of line. These traps are fun though!
Great tips. Although I love catching snakehead, it's nice to target other species as well. Those were some monster crabs. Clams are known to catch big crabs. I just wish it wasn't so much work to bait them on a trotline. I'm hoping to make my first crabbing trip this week.
Those were some nice size crabs. Great tips. I just love those tasty crustaceans.
Thanks much Mach and me too. Doesn’t hurt that my wife loves them too 😜
Thanks🙌
Glad to be of help!
Great Video. You like the galvanized traps over vinyl coated? Should hog rings be stainless?
Thanks John 🙏👊

Nice video. Thank you
You’re welcome and thanks for watching 👍

Lol, thanks Bob and good points. “Topless” is less syllables too 😜
Here’s a tip for you, cut the bottom off a flexible tub and use top part to line inside of bushel basket , keeps the escapees down
Thanks Jeff. Could you link an example of a flexible tub?
Where can I get razor ciams

Like it!
I've been driving down from wv with my girlfriend. We take my small boat and have a blast but still learning

Now where did you say that spot was ? ha ha ha. great tips. I'm heading out this week to try my luck.
Lol, it was def in or around the Chesapeake Bay 😜
Good luck on the water Barry!
Looks like I need to make some crab traps!
Thanks for tips...my son and I are beginners at crabbing....do you need fresh razor clams every 30 mins or can use the same batch all day long?
Same bag all day 👍
If you refrigerate them after using them, you can even use them 1-2 more times (unless the crabs have crunched them up too badly).
Do you pull the clams out of the shell? Lol thx
Does anyone know what kayak he is using in the video
Did you mean to make this comment on a different video?

Thanks Tommy! That trot line baiting is a chore bro lol. Gotta find some willing volunteers. Or “voluntell” the kids 😜
Great tips! I'll be running a trot line and traps from the yak soon lol going to be very interesting to do
Thanks bro 👍
Once the crabs make it in a little more heavily to my home waters, I’ll be crabbing from my kayak as well 👍
