Don't you just love Hickory Mound? It is so beautiful. Sometimes I just drive down there for the nice scenery. It's a great place for star gazing, too. We use to go there at night & catch shrimp with a net, and head light. You touched on a pet peeve of mine. I can't believe how people can throw their garbage on the ground. Nature is too beautiful to be disrespected like that. God bless.
Seeing you two catching crabs brought memories: we were married exactly 33 years ago and spent our honey week fishing, barely speaking to each other- Now I have one more channel to nag about fresh veggies, LOL🤣
This is the first time I’ve seen this channel, at first I thought the dude was some kind of tough guy, but by the end he is really likable and seems like a genuinely nice guy, really enjoyed it 💯👍
@@TKOutdoors I thought it was great. It brought back my youth where Elmore Fudd was hunting Bugs Bunny. SSSSHHH be vary vary quiet I’m hunting wabbits. 😂
Our family has been hand-lining for generations. It’s great! We steam them in the same pot setup. 3 cans of beer 3 cups of vinegar 1 cup of old bay Throw in a half-bushel of (whole) crabs and layer another cup of old bay on top with another splash of vinegar. Let the crabs steam for 10 minutes until the ones on top are nice and red. All those leftover guts and shells make amazing compost for the garden.
Lol... you two made an impressive dent in that platter during the time lapse. I remember my mom and grandma in a camper, trying to recatch all the blue crabs that escaped the bucket before steaming. They were standing on the furniture to avoid revenge.
I grew up on Chesapeake bay. So glad to see you using old bay & vinegar to cook them crabs. Oh the memories of dip netting, running trout lines for 'em, not to mention the big ol pots!! Glad to see ya picking the bodies, people here in NC just seem to crack the claws, eat that and leave the bodies 😱😭
Same here. I grew up on the Bay too. Spent many a hot summer day with friends netting, dragging and potting crabs. We'd start in the morning and go all day. Get home in the late afternoon with a nice haul and cook them up. Blue crabs and beer...it just doesn't get any better! Those were the days...
Here in Calif. we use the Crab Snare, A bait box with 6 loops or snares attached. A lot of fun and if legal something you guys may want to try in Florida. Just pull up crab snaring in Calif. There are even videos on how to make the snares.
thats how we did growing up in virginia. mom would put a boil on the dock, wed fill the pot full of crabs. then just sit down and get down right there on the water. Good times.
We are still talking about it, I'm ready for another one. Honestly the corn is what I couldn't get over, it was the best sweet corn I've ever had coming out of that boil.
I find crabbing from a dock is easier. and we used chicken necks, when in MD i could go to a butcher and they had them cheep. i have not been crabbing in ages.
I must say that’s a lot of work for dinner. But you guys look like you are really enjoying your efforts. Thanks for a super video. I love Florida and your knowledge is very informative. 👍 🦀
You need to replace the green netting with some chicken wire. Just run the chicken wire on the heavy wire and use needle nose pliers close the ends up. Makes it really easy to dump the crab out.
One of my favorite places to crab. Weekends are packed. Weekdays there are maybe 1 or 2 people there. I want to get the kayak down there and go out in the channels. Be mindful of gators down there. Had one take our line once.

Is that because you’re afraid that too many people will start showing up there? 🤔 If not, then where EXACTLY is the spot where you filmed the crabbing activity? To be honest it's already crazy busy down there. We don't even go on the weekends anymore, you can't find a spot. It's getting busy during the week as well.
