Joyce and Sam I really enjoy this video of how to do crabbing. Actually I enjoy all your videos you have taught me a lot and it's like being invited into your home or on the trip with you. F
I just cant get enough of you two love birds! I know 2 bucks isnt much, but if everyone tossed in a few bucks now and then, it would add up and really help you with supplies and stuff. Love you two! 😊❤
Here's a tip I learned from a friend who only scoops crabs from the dock pilings...spray paint your hand net, it's rim, and a short way up the handle with black or dark brown paint. I did mine, and it helps keep the crabs from seeing the net...until it's too late! Also, years ago my dad made his nets using chicken wire formed around a large pot and wired to the rim. Worked great from a small boat or off a dock. Slips right through the water and the crabs are easy to shake out. Like using the mono at the end of the crab line...nice tip. Love all your crabbing and fishing videos. Stay safe and well. God Bless. Ron G. In CT, and still crabbing at 77 🙂
I’m about to take my kids from Upstate, NY to the Jersey shore. This is exactly what I needed! The willingness to share information reminds me of my Grandfather. Cheers!
We're from Jersey (Atlantic City) there's some good crabbing most anywhere, near the Meadows and don't forget the flounder fishing. Good luck and Thanks for Watching our videos
Very instructive.. thank you... I would take the old wire hangers from the laundry ( my lawyer step dads shirts) & unwind them & remake them into crab bait clips... EZ...just need the hangers , pliers & snips... you can figure it out if ya haven't already... unwind the wire shirt hanger.. till you have a straight 3-4 feet?? then snip it in 1/2 & make a "paper clip" shape & a curl/hook at the end ... works great... made a good bit of side cash 30+ years ago before we even knew what recycling was!!
I work just south of that park, it has been getting nicer in the past couple of years. I have enjoyed your videos and y’all have inspired me to slap $5 down for my rec crab license. Maybe I’ll run into you out in the wild.
Yes video was very helpful 😊. I usually throw my castnet on them when I'm fishing. I also used my traps but I haven't used hand lines in years. Looking forward to using them this summer. Thanks again 😊.
I've also caught blue crabs with a cast net and they get tangled lol, but handlines work great, we catch a lot of crab with them. Thanks again for Watching
Right I can't believe the prices but I took the grandkids for an ice cream cone, 4 cones for $25.00 lol. When I was a kid it would have been less than a dollar. I guess the crabs are still a better deal. Thanks for Watching
@@jasonk9020It has gone up so much since I was a kid. And for a dozen Jumbo Jimmies $100 is considered good. Sadly, I think the bounty just isn’t what it used to be, and so the price is high. A lot of the live blue crabs sold in the supermarkets here are shipped up from Mississippi. If you want the jumbo Marylands you gotta pay. 😬
Good afternoon, Joyce and Sam. Thanks for the information. My hubby and I are so interested in trying out your method. We have fished all up and down the Florida East Coast, for some twenty years. We have watched many people crabbing but never tried. Watching your videos has definitely intrigued us. Thanks for taking time to share your videos. 😊
That will work, every year we used to vacation in Arizona and go gold prospecting in the desert and always had a great time and found a little bit of gold. Thanks for Watching
You guys are wonderful we love you... We now live in Jupiter fl.. Don't crab the loxahachee.. But watch you.... Miss maryland..you sound like that's where you are from.. Happy crabbing. Found an alloy can eat in stuart... Are you from Maryland.. Ann mckewin west palm beach... God bless
Years ago almost everyone who lived within an hour's drive went crabbing with a Handline at least a couple of times a year. I'm sure your mother always had a great time. Thanks for Watching
We have a black net but it makes no difference. I think they see us, it makes a difference as to which way the sun is facing, but sometimes nothing bothers them they just hang on and you can lift them right in. I guess that's why there will always be crabs. Thanks for Watching
Paul, we put the ice in a plastic box (so they don't drown in the ice water) and cover them with wet burlap or a towel to keep them damp and cool. We bought about 2 dozen from Mississippi to Suwannee they were in the ice chest for about 30 hours and were all alive, but sometimes you still lose some. Nice hearing from you
I'm getting ready to go to Palatka fla in the next few weeks. Hopefully I've learned enough from your vast experience to do some crabing while I'm there. Does that mean I'll have half-vast experience when I get home?
We get them at Wayne Lee's in Pascagoula Mississippi. You can sometimes get them at the hardware store in Oak Hill Florida. Thanks for Watching our videos
We do especially in the summer. We put ice in a plastic box and put it in our ice chest and wet a piece of burlap or a towel and cover them, that will keep them damp and cool. Thanks for Watching

I live in Raleigh so hopefully when I retire in a few years I will get closer to the beach so I can crab. I could live on crab alone and Old Bay

That crab pot looks sooooo good.
We never get tired of them
Always enjoyable watching you two.
And you’re right about crabs here in Maryland. They are expensive!
Why so expensive? We pay about $1 a crab here on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. $100 a dozen for Blue Crab is ridiculous 🦀
