- This week we’re treated to a reunion of old friends as drummer Ray Luzier from KoЯn joins the show!
Coming off the heels of KoЯn’s 14th studio album, Requiem, Ray discusses how the group has begun focusing on the brand around the band. We find out how KoЯn Koffee came to fruition, and discover the masterful mind behind the bean. Ray opens up on his decision to leave California in favor in Tennessee, and how musicians of all genres have been migrating to the Nashville area.
We also get into Ray’s life before KoЯn. From his humble beginnings on a farm outside of Pittsburgh to creating a curriculum at Musician’s Institute in Los Angeles, we follow the path that led Ray to becoming the legendary drummer he is today. Of course we couldn’t forget Ray’s time working with David Lee Roth, and the wild stories he has with Diamond Dave.
We also learn on this episode:
• Why Chad Smith didn’t last long at MI
• How Ray’s first audition with KoЯn went
• The importance of the entertainment factor in music
• What Head & Munky were doing at an exotic animal farm

Ray is a class act and has modernized the KoRn sound and kept them current. Cheers!
Ray isn’t the reason Korn are still popular in current modern times. They could get a new drummer & Korn will still have the same signature sound they’ve always had & be just as popular.
With that being said I love Ray Luzier rock on Korn! 🤘🏽
@@Celestial_Being666 You are correct, but Ray has brought an interesting progressive rock style to their music that I think a lot of people appreciate.
I really had a good time with this Johnny. I learned a lot about Ray. Pretty wild
great stories. awesome stories from Ray transitioning from DL Roth to Army of Anyone! to this day, the Army of Anyone album is one of the first ones I toss on once it starts getting hot here in Colorado. Great summer album., such an underrated band & record! Still remember being blown away when it first dropped!
Army of Anyone is a great full-album, on-repeat kind of play. I found it during the early work from home and can't believe I missed it when it happened.
What a cool dude. Great interview/podcast
I have a great tour idea for the Diehards!!! It's call the Yall Want A Single tour.
No singles AT ALL.
Play deep cuts and rare songs like Camel song, Layla, This Broken Soul, Sean Olson, It's Me Again etc.
The one single they play is Blind. But the catch is they play the Blind demo from Niedermayer Mind demo.
Just my thought 🤘🤘🤘
Brilliant!
👍 YES
Omg that’s actually a solid idea
I'm telling you it would be sick for the true diehards
Proud from the I Know What You Did Last Summer soundtrack was great too. Such a good movie as well!
cool interview! Ray is a hella dope drummer. Love Army of Anyone! Great band
Love Korn and Ray! Great podcast, would love to see you guys touring together sometime in the future!!
🙏🤘🍻
Sevendust, Korn, and Avenged Sevenfold would be a great tour!
goddamn johnny gets better looking everytime I drop in, maybe I should start drinking
I was at that Helmet/KoRn concert. Helmet was amazing but KoRn blew them and Evanescence away!
Great pod Johnny 🤘🏻 loved the Chad smith story
🙏 me too🤙
Saw KoЯn in April 2022 they sound better now then they ever did been a fan 25+year
I agree, man. I just saw them on the 23rd at Blossom and holy sh*t they sounded amazing!
That is so not true
@@sugarsore you’re the only one who thinks so bud
Ray is AMAZING 🤘🏼
Slipknot have whiskey, Iron Maiden have phone game, Korn have coffee. I know there’s so much more band/accessory combinations.
I never used to get a caffeine buzz off koffee but fortunately now that’s the case so I’m psyched for this Korn koffee. Rock on! 🤘🏽
.P.S. I wonder how many humans missed the monkey
Wish Korn would play in MKE on their next tour. Pretty please.
Both of y’all are legendsssss ax7 needs to tour again I’ve been waiting forever for y’all to come back around to Pensilvania Korn live as well is surreal it’s unbelievable how good they are I’ve seen them 3 times I’d kill to get that experience with ax7
RIP Brook's father.
KoRn is a brand that lasts forever
let me recapitulate the salient point on why musicians should learn the business side: so they do not get ripped off like the bands before them
enjoy seeing guys from A league bands talking music
LMAO the munky on Ray's shoulder took me out man😂😂😂😂 didn't think he'd actually do it but he did Hahaha fucking love it man. Thanks for the laughs editing dude 😂😂
@ 1:24:30
Korn!!
Love it! With that initial story you might want to put out a "Say My Name" Walter White Blend.
Fuckin hyped!
Next headline “korn wasn’t supposed to last another year”
LETS GOOOOO
Korn coffee?
Korn corn they never thought of that
I'm sure they did.
Not a fan of Jeris. He comes off real cocky and all about himself and not my vibe. That’s just my opinion. I’ve only heard the song he did of Papa Roach’s Last Resort and it’s alright.
You should definitely check out his song, Going Ghost, it's actually really good! I just checked him out because I went to the Korn concert and he was one of the openers, not my thing but that song is very catchy!
@@LeadMe2TheBliss thanks for the suggestion! I’ll give it a listen!
I respect him but everything Korn has made since David left minus untitled hasn't been good at all to me.
Have you not heard the last 4 albums? I'm an old school fan and have been buying their merch and CDs since 1996 and the last 4 albums are some of my personal favorites.
@@LeadMe2TheBliss Agreed, especially the last two.
Damien you’ve turned into a narrow closed minded elitist. How do ya feel? Korn modern era is phenomenal just like classic era. Ur clearly tone deaf if you hate the recent albums
