What's your favorite 8BitDo controller?
SF30 and the new retro collections one
I pre-ordered this one back in May just on price alone (also in green). Love it barring the shoulder bumpers - not sure what to call them but it's a hard and noisy press compared to many other controllers out there.
@familygeekery do you Believe the directional sticks would work well for n64 emulation on raspberry pi? Any need to remap etc..
Can you say what kind of usb c hub did you use? Im new too this so im not too sure what i should be looking for.

I have the wired version of this in that light, purple/lavender color and aside from the color It is an absolutely fine controller.
Well-built works perfectly, I have no complaints whatsoever…Aside from that color, I wish they would offer a wider variety because I just find these colors to be kind of an eyesore. It’s not that big of a deal though, I’ve gotten used to the light purple color I don’t even notice now as I use it, I just appreciate the fact that it’s such a nice controller for the price.
I honestly think they have to come up with these colors so everyone can distinguish the switch vs Xbox vs Bluetooth vs 2.4ghz versions of their multitude of controllers.

@@13ed0 I’ve went wireless since this post and the performance is every bit as good as wired in my experience.

What about a chromebook?
I have the lenovo ip slim 3 chrome 14m868 mainly for the game pass.
I bought 4 controllers, and one of them was even Xbox licensed. Since they're all wired, it should have worked without any issues. But the camera keeps spinning left, and I can't look around. This controller will be my last try.
I ordered mine on sale for $15. It arrived in the office earlier so I haven't tested it yet. Hopefully it will work on my tv box

A convenient and most importantly cheap controller, I am more than satisfied, the vibration works perfectly)
works perfect on linux with steam games, non steam games all the emulators I threw at it just out of the box no configuring just plug and play. Also works with my raspberry pi 4 with retropie no extra button presings no configuring it sees it as normal xbox xinput controller, when you configure it for "android" it just puts it in Dinput mode, which by the way is the defacto standard for Macs so maybe if you put it on pressing start and B it will work.
I have the Pro 2 but wanted the Uitmate one as well for the different stick placements and saw the Bluetooth one cheap on Amazon thinking the only differences were it not having the charging dock or charging ports and not having a 2.4G/Bluetooth switch (the dongle which is included in the charging dock)
I ordered it yesterday but having looked into it more today, I can see some other differences which I missed. It has visible screw holes on the back which isn't a big issue. The two things that mean I may send it back are that it doesn't have the two rear buttons and the sticks aren't Hall Effect which is one of the reasons I wanted it
From watching this video it looks like I'm going to have to press buttons to enable me to use it on my Raspberry Pi like you had to do on the original Pro controller. I don't know if I have to do that each time, and it seems more bother than it needs to be. I would also like to map the buttons in the app. On the one hand, it was only £25 but some of those missing features do have a value so it makes the £60 price tag not seem as bad
Those extra buttons underneath are handy as I can map the Z button for N64 games to one of those
Is this the Xbox input version that has Hall Effect Stick?
Or is the Switch version the only one that has Hall effect?
This is the 2.4G budget version so it has the ALPS joysticks and there's also an equivalent Switch Bluetooth version. If you want the one with Hall Effect sticks, you need to buy the more expensive one with the charging dock. It also has the two paddle buttons underneath and the non visible screw holes on the back and enables you to map the buttons in the app
Wish they would just drop this colors for the ultimate controllers too. I love the pastels, but not the cheap colorful button look and I want more functions. 😅
I usually play games over the cloud on Samsung TV. I tried this gamepad to see if it would work and it did. I wish they would state this clearly.
Great video, all the information I needed before purchasing! I bought it to play on my steam deck. Sad that it doesn't work with MacOS though
you're right. And I'm not sure why it doesn't. I was actually surprised that it didn't. Maybe someday the driver will be updated?

Hi! I got the same controller.
I think I have a problem, when I'm charging it there's no red indicator light, and the white status led light blinks continuously.
Manual says that the red led should stay solid while charging and only turn off when it's fully charged.
How about yours? Does it behave the way the manual says it should??
When charging the red light stays on for me. Maybe yours is already pretty much full battery?

I haven’t tried personally, but I believe it’s one controller per adapter.

I am thinking about buying the lilac version for my girlfriend for her switch, I just want to plug the usb in to the switch's dock and play with it in docked mode. Would that method work with switch ?
I don't believe it would, I got that exact version as my fourth controller after buying the bluetooth versions for my first through third and this one can't connect.
TLDR: my blue, pink, and orange Ultimate C bluetooth controllers can connect to my switch but I can't use this lilac Ultimate C 2.4g controller with my switch

No
I'd ordered the Bluetooth version yesterday thinking the lack of charging dock was the reason it was cheaper. I had assumed it had the Hall Effect sticks which was why I wanted it as I have the Pro 2 already and that doesn't have them. This is why I'll probably send this one back and also because it doesn't have the two rear buttons which is a big miss for me
I might have looked into it more but I wanted it for today and I only had eleven minutes to order it on Amazon to guarantee next day delivery. I'm not sure I necessarily want to spend the extra on the proper Ultimate one though
I was planning on buying this controller. I'm currently using a Redmi Note 9 can I just use a OTG to connect the adapter to my phone? Since I don't have a USB Hub
An OTG adapter should work fine for an Android phone. I’m not familiar with the one you mentioned, but it should work. Good luck and thanks for watching!

I bought this one without really thinking everything through. One of the big reasons i bought it was to play certain games on my android phone but it doesn't seem to work. Do you know if it is possible? Do i need a usbc to usb adaptor or something?.
Use usbc adaptor for plug to Andriod mobile it is will work😊
I bought the Bluetooth version of this thinking it was just missing the charging port/dock and the switch on the back which is why it was a lot cheaper. I didn't think to check that it was also missing the Hall Effect sticks, the paddle buttons and the app customisation
@MatthewLenton honest assumption. We almost need a 5 hour online training on what all the different models of 8BitDo can do, lol.

would the wired version work on Mac? ive been looking to get one to play Xbox cloud gaming on my MBP 2012 but no answers so far, I don't want to risk it
I don’t believe so. I couldn’t get the wireless one to work on Mac, and if the wired one worked, 8BitDo would certainly list it on their site.
Wireless one works wired, see my shorts. One thing to check is that wired version is shown as Xbox 360 controller on Windows in Device Manager, as Wireless does.
@@blza_box does it work wired mode only or can it work on 2.4ghz mode? Does it also work with steam?
@@vvv4770 it works both. there's an option in driver settings to pretend it to be 360Controller, so steam sees it. Tested with Overcooked 2, Final Vendetta. The one thing is that one should be tech savvy to setup the driver on M1 mac.

@@popcat6233 No it is not, the 8bitdo Ultimate C bluetooth version is made for the switch. this controller is the 8bitdo Ultimate C 2.4g version with a dongle. this version does not work with the switch. I can confirm cause I have both versions of this controller
how to charge it?
It comes with a USB-C cable (I showed it about 2 mins into the video, lol).

that's not an ultimate controller cuz all control have stick drift, the solution is open source tho, great video anyways
