Not only is 3rd octave response important but for alto flutes in this price range and quality I would say intonation is just as important in that register.
The intonation in the top register (Written top G-C) of the Yamaha and the Atlus was very sharp, I am curious as to how alt fingerings would affect the sharpness in that register, the intonation in the 3rd octave of the Haynes seemed a lot more stable and I was surprised that the top written C on the Haynes was not almost a quarter tone sharp like it was on the other 2 flutes.

I played flute and piccolo for years. I wish I would have kept with it. I was great at sight reading and just loved the instrument so much! Not a lot of opportunities to play after high school around here (Iowa). Thanks for sharing this amazing instrument with others!!

Growing up, I only knew of one flute. Never knew of alto or bass flutes. I lived in a dang bubble lol

Why you did not compare Sankyo and Muramatsu? They are one of the best and expensive Alto Flutes !

I’ll be honest - they weren’t available at the time. They are in such high demand they fly off the shelves! In my next video I do demo a Sanko bass though!
