I didn't perform in Carnegie Hall until I was 56. This young man has a bright future ahead of him. I hope he doesn't burn out before he reaches adulthood.
Maintaining a good balance of various activities could sustain his playing piano for the fun of it. I know two individuals who have performed at Carnegie Hall, and in December our church choir will sing there for the first time. I'm excited for their talents to shine.
Holy crap!! I remember going to band camp with this kid. I was 12, he was about 5. Every camper is wearing t shirts, shorts, sandals, etc. This kid came in a suit and tie, EVERY DAY. At a sleep away camp. And proceeded to blow us all away with his piano chops. Crowds formed around him every time he played. So happy to see him earn success and play at such a high level, at such a young age.
Thank you for watching William's story! :-) It truly has been a blessing that William having fun with music and the piano. He is continuing his journey in learning, playing and sharing the joy. -- William's parents

As parents, you and your wife gave your son the tools he needed to cultivate his talent. How bright the world could be if all parents could know what their child needs and have the means to provide it to him or her. You must be proud watching him grow and you are to be commended for providing the environment to allow him to excel! Bravo!

When I was growing up the best I got was a roof over my head which was a trailer. When it came to food I got lot of mac&cheese , fish sticks mostly cause that's all mom could afford. My dad was a truck driver so he was on the road most of the time. He took most of the money with him so he could eat steak and stuff like that. But when he came home he wanted steak to eat. Now here is the kicker he never left mom enough money for mom to buy things like that. The best memory I had with dad was when I was a teenager. He took me on the road with him on the semi-truck couple times. That's really the only thing I got cause like 10 years later he passed away from cancer.
Although a 20k piano forma child that age suggests that they do quite well financially as there are many families in the US that don’t have that much per year to spend on all purchases. Just saying...
AlohaLivin now that’s stating the obvious! On the other hand, if they are from China, chances are they are only allowed one child. That rule changed only a few years ago I think. So of course they would put everything they could into his upbringing.
I am astounded to see how young these children are starting such a focused and dedicated pathway. As a parent we must not forget that they are children, and should always ensure that we make time for our most precious loved ones to be children too! They can be so proud.
For him THIS is his game-- his play. PLAYING the piano :))) He said it himself-- he's HAPPY when he's playing music. I'd rather the child is 'focused and dedicated' at an early age than the opposite because...why not? Nothing wrong with it. As long as the child is healthy and enjoying himself. Asian way of thinking is special. Asian kids are phenomenal. Something the Western culture can learn from.
@@RetroPlus well no, if he is not talented, 23 hours a day will do nothing. Lang Lang used to study 8 hours a day when he was 4, he probably didn't have any proper childhood (mediocre?). @@internetheroin2561 I did...unfortunately the people who raised me only wanted me to play hymns out of a hymn book so I never went past 6 years of lessons. But I played a song with one finger at 18 months old, and by the time I was 5 I was playing fluently with both hands, no lessons whatsoever, just whatever I heard by ear. I started lessons at 5 and a half, and was on my way to playing in a Philharmonic orchestra and had won a state competition. I had a huge passion for piano ever since I was very tiny, and I could have, and should have, become a concert pianist.

Genius often goes to waste because it’s not nourished properly. These are intelligent parents. They recognized the baby’s gifts right away and supported him.
It's K. 545 in C major, and every piano student eventually has to tackle it. It's easy if played slowly, but playing it at speed, and correctly - *that's hard!* And yes, his parents seem to have exactly the right approach - fully supportive, not pushy. Kudos to all of them! Fred

This is a definition of a true prodigy kid. He was four at that time and look how effortlessly he played that piano fluent like liquid. It’s either u got it or u don’t. His is natural, it’s in his blood. He was gifted born with it. Meanwhile my niece and my nephew had teaching lesson since they were 3 and a half years old they are in their early 20s now and can only play half as good as this child. I envy one’s that are naturally talented/gifted. These kinds here are one of a kind.
all musicians play by ear. it would have been more amazing had he never heard that song before and played it off the sheet that precisely. its a popular misconception that we need written music to play our instruments but its much easier to learn a song by hearing than reading. nonetheless this kid is absolutely incredible.
@@MoogieB oh by all means his playing is incredible and he definitely is special and different. i was considered a child prodigy because i could pick up on melodies with my right hand on piano at 7. i was doing this with songs like rudolph the red nosed reindeer, mary had a little lamb, and this old man basically nursery rhymes and christmas songs id heard. what he is doing here is light years ahead of my ability even as a teenager. i wasnt proficient in songs like this until my mid teens. the ability to read music is becoming obsolete as we dont need it to remember songs anymore. if not written down in the past all of mozart would have been forgotten.

It mainly depends if they even want to do it at first. I know this because I love music but I didn’t get the support I needed from my family. So trust me I know.
I have to say that I am a piano teacher and I am very sad to have read that this beautiful gift of a child did not find a teacher to teach him when he was two, because I have worked with a two-year-old and I have flourished him beautifully! The time he was four years old he had already passed his twin brother and sister who were for at the time I started them and they were eight years old his skills were phenomenal! I also have worked with a three-year-old little girl who is absolutely brilliant and I actually believe that the smaller the child the greater the learning skills! I yearn to think what this amazing little boy could’ve accomplished had he found a teacher who believed they had the skills to teach him and that “he was able to start lessons and could have read music” which is exactly what I teach my small piano students to do! They do and can read music, I don’t write a note in but I actually teach them how to play real songs and read notes! Small children are absolutely amazing at that age and their learning capacity by the time they reach the age that this young man started his piano lessons are extremely accomplished little children and students! But my little three-year-old is a girl and she is absolutely priceless, so I’m not bragging but I am telling you the experiences that I have teaching smaller children has been incredibly rewarding and they learn so well! I have a wide range of ages in all of my clients... therefore I love my work regardless of age and I see that I was blessed to do what I do! Teaching people how to learn no matter what age is a gift and I cherish the gift that I was given to pass on to other students no matter what age they are! You have a strange idea of what "successful" and "supportive" mean. They bought him a $20,000 piano to... play useless music. Why spend that money on something worthwhile when you can waste it on entertainment? Why encourage a kid to grow up to have a job that benefits society when you can make them an entertainer? We have a generation of kids who want to be pop stars, football players, and Twitch video-game streamers. When I was a kid, kids would tell you they wanted to be a teacher, doctor, fireman when they grew up. Kids now are lazy attention-cravers who want easy $$$ and care nothing about actual needs of their community. "I want to bring the audience happiness." Yeah, that's going to bring real happiness, right. Sure, we're born with an incurable disability that society stigmatizes, sure we lost our house in a wildfire or hurricane, sure we lost family members to covid, sure we have gun violence outside our own kids' bedroom windows, but hey, we can be happy because some little rich kid can play music. Priorities, gees. A supportive parent would lead kids in the right direction to grow up to be a good person, not to be a selfish attention-seeking person.

I didn't dislike the video, but I belive the one who disliked it are the ones who belive the parents are forcing him to play and not giving him proper childhood
If he voluntarily practices 3 hours a day, he must really love playing piano and making good music. A very solitary and focused thing to do for a young child. Many blessings to him, his family and his teacher.
When I was a young girl my family wouldn't buy me a piano no matter how much I begged, but eventually my grandmother bought me a classical guitar and I would have played it eight to ten hours per day if my hands could have taken the strain. When you love music that much, nothing else matters. I would skip meals, skip parties or movies or anything just to have more time to play.
What's equally impressive as this kid's talent is his complete lack of nervousness or stage fright. The self confidence seems deeply-rooted, as if he already knows he's doing exactly what he was put here to do (and is doing it very, very well).

Maintaining a good balance of various activities could sustain his playing piano for the fun of it. I know two individuals who have performed at Carnegie Hall, and in December our church choir will sing there for the first time. I'm excited for their talents to shine.
Kudos to you ! My hat off to you !

You didn't stuff him in a trash can and call him Poindexter? I thought crushing and discouraging talent was a 12 year Olds duty!

How bright the world could be if all parents could know what their child needs and have the means to provide it to him or her. You must be proud watching him grow and you are to be commended for providing the environment to allow him to excel! Bravo!

Good luck to William he is amazing !!

I love that his parents saw his love for music and helped him pursue it the best way possible. That is love.
Beautiful family!
Although a 20k piano forma child that age suggests that they do quite well financially as there are many families in the US that don’t have that much per year to spend on all purchases. Just saying...
santai sehat well said!

@@internetheroin2561 I did...unfortunately the people who raised me only wanted me to play hymns out of a hymn book so I never went past 6 years of lessons. Having a supportive family is a big plus.

I was kinda just like him, started playing around 4 until my teenage years when i had to focus on my studies. People who can play these type of instruments are really intelligent.
Idk, I can play piano pretty well and I’m dumb as a bag of rocks.
@@jamesodgers6715 thats alright, everyone has strenghts and weaknesses.
@@jamesodgers6715 Why you think you are dumb?
@@felipegomes6312 maybe because we fail at school ? or people tell us that were dumb ?
Saw the thumbnail and wanted to see what they considered a "prodigy." This boy is amazing. Not only that, but he seems sweet and his parents are really nice. I hope he continues to enjoy his music.
How beautiful. He loves music. Sometimes children can play mechanically, but this one plays with musical understanding.
@tinylilmatt yes. Practice is not a chore for him.
Hello how are you doing Ina. I trust you are safe and in good health. God bless you........I'm looking for new friend OK!
i love the parents, they’re so sweet, they’re not forcing him to do anything but motivate him, and allow him to chose his own path, and go at his own pace. that’s how it should be
Not only am I impressed by the kid, kudos to him he is amazing at so young, but I’m impressed by how willing and allowing these parents are, they didn’t think it was just dumb child thinking and blindly playing notes, they completly supported him to the extent of buying piano lessons, they created a safe environment for the child to learn, along with giving him the necessary encouragement. I absolutely love those parents, this is what true support looks like.
Bought him a 20K Piano!!
Aw I admire the parents. They saw the potential in their child and had him the necessary things to hone his natural skills 👏 William is such a talented kid!
I wish my parents did that for me
"Music brings me happiness and I want to bring the audience happiness"... Someone give this young lad the Nobel Peace Prize !!!
Thanks for sharing this young boy's amazing talent with us. He made my heart sing. The Lord placed this special soul into your care and you humbly have accepted to encourage him to not settle for mediocre...we need more parents like you in this society we live in...
My son is doing the same. First time seeing a piano and he sat upright and played. He was 11 months. I will do just like this little guys parents. Great job buddy you are an inspiration!!!
Bless that little guy, how wonderful to be able to play like that without music, I believe he’s a musician born again! 💖
The amount of raw energy this kid is putting into his music insane.
the fact that the stool is so tall that he is practically standing makes this just the more impressive. he is this tiny child who has only really played piano for around 1.5 years, and yet he rivals those with many more years of practice. it's also the pure joy that sparks happiness. the fact that he looks like he genuinely loves and enjoys this, his smile glowing the entire time that he plays.
2 years old they get him a $20,000 piano and can't afford a piano bench that fits? He'll probably be crippled by the time he's 10

If he persists, he’ll be world famous as an adult.
That video of him at 1 year old playing the piano has stolen my heart forever.🌞 His parents are Exceptional. We should be honoring them for being Perfect Parents.🌻
Hello Christine, how are you doing i hope you and your family are safe!
I meet a boy like this at Delta Air lines , he was about 7 or so and spoke 5 different languages and I showed him the computer at Delta and he understood it back in 2000 before everyone had one.
Hes so cute .His parents are charming too.

That is more than six years old he must be at least eight. The way the parents get them on stage is through RUclips or knowing the " right people " Very often these kids are not specially talented, and have been propelled into the Music or entertainment world by doting parents.
This kid: Child prodigy at 4.

I was the first Asian-American in high school to fail Calculus. So I joined the army. Lol. True story.
Hey Hoof Grip. Yes. Stereotypes. One of my high school chums wasn't really interested in college. We went to work as an auto mechanic and Loved it. Another friend in college bound determined to go into Nursing. One of the stereo types I kept running into was that idiotic Mormon racism back in my younger days. A few of my Native American friends kept receiving so-called reeducation because of their darker skin. I, for one, got something similar because I am larger and I used to do a lot of heavy work but yes, cooked and tried to sew up things too but I 'm not that delicate? meaning I didn't bow down to asking a man for permission about everything. That cult approved of psychiatric treatment of women for all kinds of things. Back to our situations. Those beautiful eyes or no, Math just wasn't your thing. Perfect fine hand coordination and small enough to pass for a butterfly didn't get put in my suitcase either.🤰
Oops. He went to work.. yeah, damn coordination. Thank you for your Service, Sir.

So much props for the parents. So good and inspiring. Nourishing their child’s gift.
This fella's smile is really cute. He seems to be the happiest boy in the World. Awesome!
“He can punch the little keys”
Any 2 year-old can and will randomly plonk the keys, this does make him any different. Parents pushing their kids that early ruins their opportunity to find true passion. However, he does seem to enjoy it (luckily) and all the haters saying he’s never going to have a childhood are just jealous. He’s talented, probably more than most of us were at 6 years old, so I say kudos to him.
