I honestly didn’t get the song when it was first out but now with the rerecorded version, I can finally understand the appeal.
After listening to the two side by side, I think I know why there’s such a difference. Taylor has really learned how to duet with people over the years. In the original it sounded (imo) like they were trying to sing over each other which created a kind of unpleasant whiny sound, but this time they really support each other and it’s so much better.

Honestly when I saw 10 minute version I was like uhhhh…no. Not gonna listen to this. Then I did and now I absolutely cannot listen to the short version.
I remember when you first reacted to Red a couple of years ago and when it came to All too well you were like “ugh songs that are this long I’m like why🙄” but when it ended you said that it didn’t feel like it was that long, I think the magic of Taylor’s writing style is that she can skilfully narrate to you so that you can’t feel the length of the song cause you get lost in the story, not everyone can pull off long songs because you need to have GREAT lyrics, something that these days is quite rare in mainstream music

I've *never* felt the length of ATW, because as a writer myself, I always felt so invited to picture the story playing in my head like a short film, telling a relationship from prologue to epilogue, so I was legitimately surprised to learn later that it was 5 minutes long. 🥰🧧

The “All too well” short film is a masterpiece!! Romance movies take directing notes from Taylor! But also Sadie and Dylan’s acting and chemistry!! Wow and the fact that the fight scene was improvised blew me away. Shows how good of an actors they are!

I'm surprised no one else pointed this out yet so I hope Ash sees this. The Spiderman reference actually referred to the fact that Jake Gyllenhaal dated Kirsten Dunst for a while before Taylor Swift. They even lived together. Hence the Spiderman kiss at the line "lost the one true thing that you had ever known." Taylor thought that Jake was trying to recreate his relationship with Kirsten with her. Taylor was even at a similar age as Kirsten was when they both started dating. Hence the iconic Spiderman kiss

Okay, when she says "The only real thing you've ever known" they're showing a very familiar kiss, the spiderman kiss. Jake Gyllenhaal dated Kristen Dunst who we all know played Mary Jane. There's an old interview of Jake saying that he'd only fallen in love once, he was talking about Kristen. I think young Taylor was referring to herself when she said that, but now, old Taylor looks back at it and knows it wasn't her, so maybe it could be a nod to that, or maybe I'm just overthinking it. But also, in the spiderman movies, Mary Jane is the one who initiates the kiss with first Peter, and then another love interest as if trying to have the same magic, the same spark but after it happens, she realizes it's not the same.

As someone who turns 22 this week I am in tears I was feeling so many emotions listening to the album especially nothing new
I'm honestly so surprised that Nothing New wasn't your favorite of the Vault tracks (aside from 10 minute version obviously) I figured that song would be right up your ally. Nothing New and Message In A Bottle I immediately thought of you when I heard them.
The Last Time is severely underrated. And Message In The Bottle? YALL DID IT DIRTY.ITS A BOP

I love Taylor’s music and the fact that it comes from the personal place and I didn’t know about this being about Jake until this 10 minute version came out. I’m a Broadway kid at heart and have always been a huge fan of Jake and his work! He has always been a supporter and advocate and I admire that.
I feel just because I support Taylor music and how she writes from a real personal place means I have to hate Jake. I’m sure he made mistakes in that three month relationship. An age difference can be hard and being with someone so famous and being such a private person like he I’m sure caused many problems. I think of it as it takes two to create a relationship and also make it work. As much as he was the older one, and honestly idc about the age because there are many married people well over ten years apart and so in love. My parents are ten years apart. I just think we don’t know the whole story. Only Taylor’s side and how she interpreted those 3 months. We don’t know anything from how Jake felt. I say support her without canceling or bashing someone we don’t have all the facts about. We don’t know what happened fully, we only have one side, but doesn’t mean we can’t support her craft!
Respect your opinions tho and I like your analysis of the lyrics, shows you’re a true fan! Let’s just not be so hasty to judge and bash ppl without all the facts. More love and support👏🙏🙂 People grow and make mistakes, it was 11 years ago since that 3 month relationship.

Oh and I don't know if you've seen this but on an interview, so she was doing rehearsals for tour and she was really sad so one day she went into the studio and she just sat with the band and started singing all too well she was just speaking from her heart and the band was playing along. That's the original 10-15 minute version. And she just left but her mom went to the studio people and was like "hey, you don't maybe have a recording of that?" and they did so that's how we got all too well. And then she had to decide between better man and all too well for the album and chose the chopped up version of All Too Well instead.

I know that the swifties don't talk too much about Ronan because it's meaning and I understand that, I'm new to the fandom and I didn't listen Red when it came out, so I listened to it when Red TV came out and Ronan was the song that hurt me the most, and it's not just because it has a really sad backstory, it's just that I relate to the lyrics so much and they are a big help for me rn, my dad died 5 months ago, it's going to be 6 in 3 days and I just miss him so much, he didn't die because of cancer, he die because kidney failure and it was so hard because I saw him getting weaker in his hospital bed for 3 months, I heard his screams of pain on my 18 birthday and it was a slow process of waiting the best just to be crying the next day because nothing good was happening.
Sorry, this is the first time that I talk about this since everything happen, what I wanted to say is that Ronan it's a really wonderful song and we should support it more, because we can bring much more awareness about cancer and other horrible diseases that can take away our loved ones.

When I first originally heard of RED, it didn't hit for me because I felt like it she's diving into so many sounds that it short circuited my unprepared brain but over time and the fact that I experienced my first heartbreak, I grew to love the album. For me RED encapsulated the mess and disorient that my heartbreak left me in, the tracks reflected the feeling of having every emotion all over the place. It amazes me how the record showed me the process of letting the pain out, feeling it and learning to let it go because finally I was healed.
I really loved The Last Time when it was first released but Gary's voice in the re-recording sounds so heavenly and it's sending me
