It turned out that the lion he killed was a 50 pound cub. As always the media went with pure hype.

To all those saying it was a cub, in the actual autopsy report it's described more accurately as an 'immature lion' and that its living weight was more around 45lbs give or take a a few. It's still not as impressive as killing a fully grown adult but this thing definitely could've killed him if it hit him right. I'd like to see these keyboard warriors try to take on something like that and get away unscathed as they say he should've done, he's lucky he didn't lose an eye or received worse scars.

nah his legend status went out the window when it came out that the mountain lion was 4 months old, starving and only weighed 40lbs. I wouldn't want to be attacked by it, but pretty sure most healthy adult humans would have had no problem killing that animal.

The park rangers took the animal in, and he was estimated to be around 4 months old and weighed at an ASTONISHING!!!!! 24lbs... yeah... he killed a small cub. And he still struggled, safe to say that this guy sucks at combat and if it were a 200 adult male. He would absolutely get destroyed

Carl Sutherland it was less than a year old. It was 30 lbs. Still impressive, but a healthy man should be able to best a cat that small with a rock.
It wasn’t 80 pounds, it was 30-35 pounds, emaciated and desperate ... just a kitten
35 lbs at most, according to necropsy results. In fact, the carcass only weighed 24 lbs at the time of necropsy, but it had been scavenged and partially eaten. It was also only 3-4 months old, a kitten still relying on mom.

@@boonxai The body of the immature lion that was recovered was scavenged and dehydrated, the official estimates at the living weight of it are more close to 45-50 pounds. Not an adult but this thing could've definitely killed him.

There have been 2 updated reports on this incident. The 1st was that it was just a lion cub. The latest report is it was merely a stuffed animal lion that was won at the county fair!

You're on crack, the cougar was not even an adult, and it was not nourished properly. He survived because of the cougars conditions. He even says it was probably the cats first attack on an animal his size, because he seemed to not know how to hunt but. Gladiators are cool, and a majority of animals are afraid of weapons like blades etc. You can see lions and dogs get afraid by whips or bats, etc. So it's not likely they went all out
