I have one in 3V, flat grind, red micarta. Used as a companion knife for a WC Knives Stranded Woodsman. It’s my dedicated kitchen duty knife. Great knife!

I have the CPM 3V version with full flat grind and it is a fantastic camp/hunting knife. I agree with your assessment of the sheath. I got a custom friction fit leather sheath from Hickman Boot and Saddle in Idaho and It is perfect. I highly recommend them as an upgrade to the factory sheath.
Another sheath that fits the Compadre well is the sheath that comes with the BPS Adventurer. It is an extremely nice leather sheath with dangler and fire steel loop. I think BPS sells the sheath on Amazon separately for $20 or you can buy the knife too for $40.
Great, straight forward review! I really like the looks of the 104, so I just had to own one (by now I should know better not to buy knives by the looks 🤪, but I just can't help it). And it's still one of my favourite knives. Never let me down. So far I haven't had any issues with the sheath, but I get your point. After two days out in the woods the colour of the right scale of the handle turned into a dark colour. Now I love the 104 even more, one side a very light, beige colour, the other side reddish brown (more like the colour of your 104). Very special 😃. Thanks for the review, left a sub and looking forward to see more vids.
Chopping? You are Canadian! Where’s your axe or hatchet? LOL . Great review. I have several Bucks. I can make a sheath. Thanks for another great video. (I like this knife and will look into it further.)
I have the Buck Mesa in 420 and it has the same basic blade shape with a slightly different handle. I really like the mesa except for the kydex sheath, it was not done well, has a proprietary attachment method, no tech lock ability, it does hold the knife well but it's meh at best. Yeah, they are not choppers at all. I have heard a lot of complaints about the compadre sheath as well and it is why I have not bought one for my Mesa. Buck needs to step up their sheath game. Good review.
I would think the slight recurve on the blade makes it a little more difficult to sharpen, especially if you like using whetstones? Would need like a ceramic rod I guess?
That's a good point. I have only sharpened it once, and I used a knife sharping tool. And it turned out ok. But as for a wetstone, i think you may be right! Thanks for making me aware of that!

I have had the same knife and well put ...like any tool can't do everything that you would wish it to.. and yes I did loose mine.
Well, that sucks.. sorry to hear you lost it. As its a great knife.

What I'll do with vertical sheaths like that is have them on the belt loop but also hang down into my pocket. Cheers.
