I love drawing all your tutorials. I have learned so much! This is something I have wanted to do all my life. Thank you! I had never had an art class. But, always loved drawing.
My wife and I decided to learn to draw during our time in COVID prison. We set aside time for an ‘Art Class’ every day for a month or so. We have little or no talent, but we are surprised and pleased with our results. Mr Priestley, you are a major influence on us. You are a great teacher, and have more talent in your little finger than we have in total, but we keep plugging on. Thanks for being here for us. Got to go and Make A Start.
Wow, that's great. It's wonderful to know that you have been following my videos to help with lockdown. Good luck with your drawing, I bet you are both producing amazing work. Cheers
A year ago I decided at my 29 to learn drawing as a hobvy. Your vids were the first I came to and which made me create something for me unvelievable. Thanks for everything, you are the best, I haven't stopped ever since and I greatly enjoy both drawing and watching your videos. Thanks a lot sir.
I'll review the music by asking other subscribers. If the consensus is that it is annoying, I'll not use it in further videos. Thanks for your comment. Cheers Paul
I love your videos and I think they're very practical and easy to follow. I'm getting very frustrated though, with the graphite. I bought a Lyra graphite pencil which I think is the same as yours but I can't break it up, it's too hard/I'm not strong enough and as a result I can't lay it down and put it in small areas, as in your videos. I'm scared of using a hammer in case it just gets smashed into fragments. Any advice? Many thanks.
Hold it down flat on a table with part hanging over the table. Press down hard on the part overhanging or it it. Alternatively, ask someone stronger to break it for you.
Sir please tell which pencils you use coz i guess my 6b or 4b isn't giving that effect like the one you use. Also sir do you use graphite or pencils more....a video on this would be nice.
I always struggle with the details in my quest to learn. As an example in the top corner you darkened the background much more than the reference. I understand it's to increase the contrast, and it does look better for it. Is it more important to create such contrast rather than "staying true" to the reference? I can't really think of really any other way to show an edge with white paper on a white background when the position of the light isn't really creating any shadow at that point.
Remember no one will ever see the reference only your drawing, so it is important the drawing works. If you are an artist you are giving your interpretation of what you see. Artists don't slavishly reproduce the original source they make us see the original in different ways.
Sorry, you find the background music annoying, others have said they like it. Still, I hope you can find the videos useful despite the music. Cheers Paul

Such a helpful video- you explain things very clearly, thank you.

Really like the tutorials and watching how you work the shades, but Charlynn is right - the music is distracting from the lesson. thanks Paul
