Dear Matt, the minute you mentioned some people don't know HOW TO PRACTICE you just caught me. I didn't realize why I would find myself stucked whyle practicing. Overthinking is one of my challenges. Thank you so much for this reminder along with these great exercises in a nutshell. The membership program is amazing and worth subscribing. Buddy

    Really great tips.
Some of which I knew from the book Drawing from the right side of the brain. But once i did the lesson in the book, i stopped doing them.
Made me realize that going back and redoing exercises and stuff is really important.

These are excellent ways of breaking free of ordinary, every day cognition or perception. The upside down thing felt like walking on another planet! Breaking down gradations of value to two, three, then all was an eye opener too. Great tutorial.

What's so complicated or advanced about cross contour lines? Just choose a simple object and practice. Upside down drawing isn't advanced either, it's just about drawing shapes, negative and positive. If you want to understand values just take a photo on a digital camera of a scene or still life you'd love to use as a reference, and then turn down the colour saturation.

Great video. A good idea would be to pick your favorite 6 tips, list them in the back cover of your sketchbook, and throw a dice to choose the exercise to do at the moment. Of course you can get one the fancy 10-sided dice if you can’t narrow down the list. Anyway, I appreciate the lesson. Thank you very much!

Can you do this, but for making digital art? There is a lot of terminology, and concepts that can be frustrating (to put it lightly) to grasp as a beginner who's just recently getting into art. Apologies if this sounded rude. Like cooking or driving, I do better when there's a guideline to help.
