    nice quick video on it, thanks. quick tips for others, I just got a 2038r with loader, make sure you raise the loader pretty high as I found it can catch on the decks front spring loaded arm, also the front spring loaded arm was not adjusted and set too high so was getting caught in the loader frame - check these things if you have the loader.

    I have the same model and year except my deck is 72”. Fred flint stone did a great demo, better than my dealer when I bought the machine.

    Wow I was told it was easy to take off the deck and reinstall by the dealer but I'm impressed makes me want one even more good video.

    That is a nice tractor and mower, and it must get plenty of use from Spring to Autumn and you love it so much. I have a 3032E tractor which I just purchased recently, and love it so far. I already had a 790 tractor, but needed another one to keep ready for the implements I don't use that often, so the 790 could be kept attached to the brush hog which I use much more than the others.

    I upgraded from a 1025r. Boy was it an upgrade I got the 2038r and a 60 inch deck. I stayed with a 60 because that's what works best on my yard and it works well even with the wheel spacers.

      Does the motor in your 2038R have a turbo?

    • @ohiovalleypondandexcavatio2114
      @ohiovalleypondandexcavatio2114 7 лет назад +1

      FredFlintstone21 yes that's amazing it has the bushhog performance of a larger tractor because the turbo spools up so fast. I love it now that I worked all the kinks out.

    • @KindredMoss
      @KindredMoss 6 лет назад

      Tim Bergfeld Tim, how does the 2038 compare to the 1025 in usability? Turning radius? Mowing on a slope with the added height of the 2038? Comfort of the seat and controls? Do you have the command cut option? How well does it work? I'm thinking of upgrading to the 2038 from the 1025. The 1025 is a great tractor and wouldn't knock it in anyway but I would like more power. The biggest concern is mowing on a slope with the taller 2038.

      Your welcome! My video disputes the following video....(youtube search the words below and you will find a dealer making untrue statements, saying john deere is lying. My video says otherwise)
      Search for..."Kubota john deere or massey fergeson sub compact tractors"

    • @WPAOutdoors

      Found it and watched it. I'll say that for the past 10 years, since RUclips has been around, I have stopped listening to dealers. They do lie or they don't know their products (or the competition). Manufacturers tend to be better but will still distort the truth. I prefer to watch videos like this one to get my information.

    Like the video, i thought about filming my first disconnect of the deck on my 2038r. Im glad i didnt, the amount of profanity required to get it loose and reconnected would have had the video banned. Ive got it down now, but mine seems to require absolute perfection to get loose. Both my previous autoconnects (1023e/1025r) were a breeze out of the gate

      Yes! I know exactly what you mean, as captured in the video (somewhat anyways)
      2 other times i unloaded my deck in a 90 deg angle to my driveway, and voila, the levers moved with ease! Ive thought of triming "just a bit" off that lever point, to stop the binding, but now that i found the "sweet spot" in my driveway to unload my mower, Ill leave it alone. Its interesting that it says in the manual something to the effect, "if lever dont move, pull mower back" Deere knows about the issue, the probably know the sweet spot scenereo to unload deck, but its beyond the scope of an owners manual

    Because I sold my 2720 and then thought a1025R would be go but I didn't like it at all so I sold my 1025R and put a deposit down on a 2025R witch I just found out isn't going to be available until late spring at this point I just went to my JD dealer and they have a 2023R with Industrial 4 ags which is what I want I think in the showroom. Its same as yours but with just the loader. They will put it together with the command-cut and lights for me. But since its winter I need a plow blade more that a 72" mower deck,but will put the 72" deck on in spring.

      If you buy a multiple implements deal all at once you get 500 bucksoff. Zero % financing. If you make more cash some months than others (or have more expenses some months) you cn make xtra payments and not owe anything for however much additional u paid. I know many don't like payments, but it may make sense with getting 500 off, worth thinking about

    • @tcbridges
      @tcbridges 6 лет назад

      That makes sense. The hydraulic one arm hook up leaver for your loader was it a option or standard if extra do you recall what they wanted for that. My dealer is saying its a $700 option?

    • @FredFlintstone21
      @FredFlintstone21  6 лет назад

      +Thomas Bridges
      That's true about price, it's an option. If you will be taking loader off and on several times, you'll love it. I pinch my pennies in many areas of my life, but splurged on this option. The last 2 tractors I had, I always hated messing with the hydraulic lines. Its non issue with the single point option. When u think bout how much food and everything else costs, it's not too bad. I did say he'll no on 1025r, and since changed my viewpoint

  • @CurtisDrew1

    I have a question. Can you drop the mower on grass and unhook it without unlocking the mower guide wheels? I watched the video and can't tell. I can understand not wanting it roll away on the pavement when your driving on, or off it. We are looking for the same tractor specs with a backhoe, loader and mower and getting off the tractor to mess with the mower wheels and lock pins will be a pain for my wife. Who will be doing the majority of the mowing on the tractor, relegating me to the backbreaking JD 304 wheel steer riding mower on my rough pasture/ (cough) back yard. As for blade sharpening I just use a winch on a trolly in my shop and just pick up my mowers off the ground high enough I can walk under them and impact the blades off and on in seconds. Work Smarter, Not Harder has been my mantra for years.

    I have the exact same tractor with the 72". Bought the entire set up with the house purchase from the previous owner. Used it the first time, worked outstanding, but once finished, the deck will not lower or raise. Any clues? Is there a fuse or maybe a wire pulled loose?

    • @FredFlintstone21
      @FredFlintstone21  4 года назад

      I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with your tractor. I'm pretty sure when this new model rolled out in 2017, it came with a 6 year warranty. I dont know if you as second owner can roll into the dealership to get it fixed under warranty or youd have to have the original owner help you with that. I'm drawing a blank if you need to be sitting on the seat to be able to move the deck up and down, but assuming that's the case, and you are sitting on the seat, it wont move until you turn the dial to the level you want it to move to. If it's at 3, and you want to move it up, turn the knob to 6, then move the lever. If you did all that, not sure what it could be!

      @@FredFlintstone21 Watched this video again, 4-25-21 and noticed you responded. Thx. Turns out my actuator is bad (like everyone else's). Called corporate and the engine and trans has 4 years (according to JD) but everything else is 2 years. JD corp also deny knowing anything about this failed actuator system. Green tractor forum seems to know a ton about it. At 5:19 in your video you can see the grey wire going into the black cap with the 2 stainless screws on the actuator. When Rexburg Idaho JD dealer service came out they removed that cap and everything under there was corroded beyond repair. The service guy cut the wires and spliced them to get the mid pto to work for snow blowing, but I still have no working actuator. Service call bill $1160.00. New actuator $1270.00.......................zero turn mower (not green) $3,000.00 This part is suppose to be replaced Spring 2021 by an entirely new type of part that does not fail once a week. To date I have not seen the new model number and I refuse to buy the LVA22793 that is on there now, and have it go out in 2 weeks. Maybe some orange paint to cover everything currently green will make me feel better?

    I am looking to buy the same tractor that you now have and was going to go with the 72" cutting deck. How do you like the command cut operation. It is expensive here with command controls cut the 60' is $4100 and the 72" is $4700 while a while a standard auto connect id $2400. My problem swallowing this is for that kind of money I could buy a really good second lawn mower for that. But I love my tractors also. Dam if do Damned if I don't. What's your thought

    • @FredFlintstone21
      @FredFlintstone21  7 лет назад

      As of late, I havent sharpened the blades for my 2032R yet. In the past, I have always sharpened mower blades with the mower off, when I'm cleaning and greasing the deck. I have heard of guys driving up car ramps, going underneath the tractor, impacting the blades off with impact gun, sharpening, then reinstalling.

    • @bvinduck
      @bvinduck 7 лет назад

      I had a 2320 62D mowing deck. It was a little bit of a pain to change/sharpen the blades, in that, it was pretty heavy deck to lift on its side. I just purchased 2017 2038R. I waiting on the 60D mowing deck to arrive. It appears it could be as late as next year.... yeah next year. I know what the hold up is but. When you do get ready to change/ sharpen your blades- any suggestions are greatly welcome. FYI- I also wanted turf tires on the machine but JD said it would next JULY 2018 before I could get one.
      Does anyone have an idea was going on with these HORRIBLE lead times?

      I believe they can swap no prob. May Vary from dealer to dealer. So you ordered your tractor without a mower? You commented in a different post for that kind of money you could get a different tractor. What attachments did you order with your 2025r?

      I have a forklift attachment for my front end loader. Slide the forks under the deck and lift it up. I find I keep my deck much cleaner now that I can easily access the bottom with the occasional power wash to clean all the built up grass crud underneath. I just make sure not to stand underneath it while it's lifted up - just tilt the forks back a bit.
