It’s crazy how underrated this band is . I had a poster on my wall in 89 because I loved Nuno’s playing even then. The growth between this album and Pornograffiti is astonishing. Nuno is still rocking today so all those Rhianna fans can hear how to play an electric guitar!! ❤
He is one of the best guitarists ever and not given enough credit. Technically he is very hard to beat. It’s hard work as a guitarist in a three piece band. Take it from me!
awesome band but always thought the song more than words was a good and bad thing for them. They really had a lot of exposure because of it but on the other hand that's the only song that they are known for now. Think it kind of put them in a box that they could never get out of but just my opinion
@@lubbocktx35 true.. it did definitely seem to.. they put out a lot of awesome tunes. The one thing they had that few bands had was a rhythmic groove that never got dull.. everything was just badass.. nuno is a badass guitarist..
Gary's voice is still on fire, and he has the same or more energy in 2023. Nuno is simply the best, Pat and Paul were the perfect groove section. Kevin keeps the classics solid and brings some awesome chops to the new stuff. So happy these guys are still making art, keeps us older fans feeling young.
Extreme are a fantastic mix of wonderful lyrics and also brilliant sounds from a range of guitars ,drumming, and the brass section and the beautiful harmonies of the lead singers , who I don’t know your names, I’ve just discovered you because of your song , More than Words it is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard, you remind me of Queen in the early days , I am a 69 year old man in the UK who has just become a fan,
Awesome! This must be a video they did for their demo of the song. Anyone else notice how different the song is on this video compared to the album version and the later video. I was into Extreme WAAAY before they got popular with More than words and Hole-Hearted. Being a guitarist I knew right away how badass Nuno was. Their latest DVD Take Us Alive is incredible and I recommend it to anyone who digs guitar driven rock.
I had a compilation cassette of up and coming bands in the 80s that my mum got when she bought a U2 record as a bundle. It had this song on it and was the only song I could remember off it but didnt know who made it. So I put what lyrics I could remember in Google and it was Extreme! This version too! Great song. I was about 8 then.. 42 now.
Love nuno, want to marry gary but PAT!! he doesnt get the same chatter being opposite nuno and he is fantastic!! Pat if you are out there you are FABBBBB
This version sounds much better than the album release. Vocals are natural, bass is super punchy, guitar has more whir and embellishment, and the drums explosive. Wish I could get this one.
to me , that ´s what made music back in the day unique , bands with real talent and musicians who dared to look different, today´s rockers look like high shcool principals , music lost the talent and the fun :(
So... music for you is all about being gay as shit? Who the fuck cares how the musicians look, if they are good indeed. This is the only good song Extreme made. They are pure glam shit. Sorry for the disagreement, I just think you're not right at all. This kind of stupid immature behavior (trying to look different, but still not looking good at all) is the typical "rebel without a cause" scenario.
thesantiso I said bands with TALENT first , whether or not you like this style of music you simply can´t deny they´re talented musicians , Nuno wrote some great leads and harmonies , i said looking different was part of the style ´cause it simply adds more fun to Rock music in general , bands like Kiss and Alice Cooper come to mind right now , i don´t know about that looking gay thing , ´cause gay people dress in a variety of styles and i couldn´t care less if they´re gay or not . Also the clothes you wear don´t make you less of a man or woman , our money and rights have been stolen for ages by people wearing suits and short hair
Phoenix Van Wyden It's the attitude what I say about gay... not only those fancy costumes. Meaning, that ego (yeah, no pun intended) and that narcisism these "musicians" have is so gay it makes me want to puke. Now, I'm not homophobic by any means, but I just like to disqualify what they want to represent. It's pure bullshit. Now, the people following this bands like you... they surely have a reason to be rebels or to look different than any other people, not like this commercial idiots. I still think they are not talented at all, besides all that I've said. Sorry for how harsh I started the discussion... Even more, when you're a woman. That was really disrespectful from me. I just clicked reply, without watching the profile photo. By the way, you're really an attractive woman! And liking this kind of music, sorta makes you special. Kind regards!
thesantiso Hi ! No harsh feelings at all , you were just giving your opinion like i was giving mine :) That´s one of the reasons Rock in every genre may it be Hard Rock , Heavy Metal , Punk is so good , we can discuss all the bands we love and also the bands we don´t , in the end we´re talking about music and there´s nothing better than this :) Kind regards :)
funk master nuno, was just a kid when I first heard him. sound unmatched when he is really playing from the heart. thanks for showing that funk and metal match all to well..
Just saw them earlier this month. Lots of energy live. I bought this album when it came out bcoz of this song. MTV was playing the heck out of it. This remix version in this video is even better than the original dead cut! It's a banger!
this song was one of first songs i ever heard in my life this song i heard first when i was just 3 months old my dad played it to me and i love extreme till today and Im 17 now but my very first song that i have heard was decadent dance and i love all their songs till today and i will keep loving them
I like this song as soon as I heard it in 89. It was their next record, specifically, get the funk out, that was a masterpiece. The guitar solo on GtFO is imo, the greatest solo ever recorded. I know, big praise. It just technically incredible, fits the song so well and flows with soul. There are a TON of songs out there where the solo does not fit the song. Especially during this era. Some guys were just trying to impress with speed. Nuno has to be top 3 of living guitar players right now.
Very different version than the album or the radio edit of this song. Solo was different, different guitar fills, cool though. Nuno is the shit, no one touches him. There had to be another "Eddie Van Halen" to come along, different that the Yngwies or Vais or whomever. Someone good enough to bridge the gap of shred and hooky songs, Nuno is that dude. He's one of the guys that you can hear all the influences in his playing, without it sounding like he's a clone or plagiarizing their playing style. Not to mention, he can rip like any other virtuoso that's come along, before or since. And bonus, he's a good, humble dude, I've met him a couple times and he remembers people's names and what they do. He deserves everything a Rockstar should get.
This makes me wanna listen to Extreme III. I remember I bought it from a thrift shop and thought it was pretty good but my life at that time was too messed up to really give it a good listen.
Actually remember seeing this on an MTV show called Hard 30, sometimes Hard 60 were they'd play heavier music and lots of up and coming hard rock bands. Also once saw "Mutha Don't Wanna Go to School Today". When " More Than Words" came out, I already knew about their heavier stuff, Such as this one, but wonder why they only played their ballads. Thanks to RUclips, prrior to this, I saw that Gary's previous band the Dream did a demo of Mutha on an MTV video contest! See the song got re used in Extreme. Good choice, though only saw it once.
Compared to the version recorded in the officially released debut album Extreme, this Pv version has a more realistic feeling as if you were listening to a live performance, and each member's performance is vivid, so this is a rock band. That's why it's transmitted. As a fan, I have a feeling that I wanted this PV version to be included in the debut album.
Nuno Bettencourt is among the top guitarists and was under rated, he is currently part of Generation Axe which is a mind blowing super guitar group, check them out
Mãe de Deus che strafigoni incredibili!!!! Sia dal punto di vista fisico che dal punto di vista artistico! Mi martella il cuore in gola! La miglior band degli anni '80/'90. Peccato averli scoperti e approfondito molto tardi. Però, evidentemente, è stato il momento giusto. Non devo avere rimpianti. Nuno Bettencourt. One of the greatest guitarists alive. I still love this band.
it's an injustice that this comment only has a 100 likes. Nuno is one of the greatest ever!

Saw them in Dallas this past weekend and 🔥🔥!! Gary can sing and dance like no time has passed. Nuno is perfection!

Hell ya Nuno is underrated ..
Legend has it, the Ninja Turtles villain was named after this guitarist
Saw them in Boston many many times in the clubs before this album came out 86-early 87. They were killing it.
I’m tellin ya rock a bye bye his solo hit my dam soul
How cool is that downtuned riff?! This band is amazing, Nuno is the final evolution of a 80s shredder

Me too...57 and still love them. They're on heavy rotation again!
Age is a number not relevant when it comes to music, even toddlers move to music and those in rocken chairs can too!
This is different than the album cut. It’s great to hear a different version from the same time period that I didn’t know existed!
The song that got me into Extreme many years ago... glad I finally saw them about 10 years ago, best concert ever

Nuno was crushing egos out of the gate! 💥🔥
Loving the late 80’s style - kids may laugh at it now, but we all knew it was the thing at the time

This solo is WAY better than the album version! It has that warped, melodic Marty Friedman sound to it...
