    I agree with you on not using multicam.
    In the "non traditional" way, I feel like I have more control of what I'm editing and I can pay more attention to details.
    You have an amazing channel. Keep up the great work!

    Hey Kraig, just wanted to make sure you knew- If you use R pull up the range tool, you can then select a range of your audio. Then lower the DB's right on the audio clip and FCPX will automatically creat keyframes for you to raise and lower just that section. Hope that helps! I enjoy watching your vids!

    Great instruction!
    Would you be doing a tutorial on the "Documentary" edit of the entire wedding?
    Would be great education.
    Cheers!

    Hi Kreig, "R" tool is very good for audio too. Try using it instead of keyframes. Select a part of who you want to turn down the volume and just bring down the level. This saves a lot of time compared to keyframes. Best regards.

    • @WeddingFilmSchool
      @WeddingFilmSchool  9 лет назад

      +EpicStudio I know about the R tool, it just isn't precise enough. I would have to adjust the keyframes after it anyway. Also, the style of laying keyframes first and then going in and adjusting the levels is what I was doing, which wouldn't work with the R tool adjustments.

    • @epicstudio4665
      @epicstudio4665 9 лет назад

      +Wedding Film School for me, even if I have to adjust some keyframes after R tool , it is nevertheless faster. I do not have so many times to click to make dots /keyframes but of course everyone has his own style of work :)

    Hi quick newbie question, how do you initially sync up the 3 audio tracks with the video tracks? Thanks and I love your videos! Cheers

    excelent video man! I've a questions, with the tool range selection, when I cut, the FCPX add a Gap or move the clips, when you do that the clips don't move, How you do that?

      +Ionatan _ Position tool (P) will let you edit like in any other NLE, basically disabling magnetic timeline, really usefull for some things...

    what do you end up giving the bride? (sorry if you have a video about that already)... do you give them the full ceremony and reception and then the "highlight"?

    I have problems similar like the ones mentioned in your video with my second shooter. And now I'm looking into always having a third static camera. I str8up will call up my second shooter and chew him out on his messed up shots.

    I've heard a few times and I think you said that you were doing it here. Why is it recommended to edit footage from an external drive?

    Hey..... It's me again.... How come you don't use the multicam editor? You can live punch it using the number pad. SO much easier.

      +William Bradford Productions Multicam is just terrible on FCPX. Just terrible.

      +Wedding Film School it's really not! I won't ever NOT use it! Maybe I should do a tutorial on my workflow with it.. I cut a ceremony in almost real time. I'm sure there's something you're missing.

    Setting up a couple of GoPro's helps out tremendously. They give you angles to cut to if something goes wrong, or if you want to move a camera. But you must learn to use the multicam feature of final cut pro X. The quality of your videos will take off, once you do that. I learned to do it from doing a little unboxing video of my boosted board. In this unboxing video, used 2 cameras, one being a GoPro. I also used a Zoom H4N. Here is the link. ruclips.net/video/NH2KdUMUEss/видео.html

    I have a C100 and for some reason FCPX really struggles with it. I also have a Panasonic 4k as well as other cams and FCPX doesn't have the same problem. Very tedious.

  • @vladimirtalijan

    There's an option in FCPX called multicam :)

    Multicam editing is the way to go. All you do is click on your audio tracks and your video angles, then click, make multicam clip. There are a lot of tutorials on how to do this. I also noticed that your video was not synched to your audio. It was a bit off.

    • @ronalvey103
      @ronalvey103 8 лет назад

      I heard him. I've also come across photographers who state "their style-when it comes to using flash-is natural light". That means they don't know how to use flash and are intimidated by their lack of experience or knowledge. The multi-cam feature in Final Cut X rocks.

    Good job. but hard to fill all "shit" moment. Idk, but start record ceremony 10 min earlier and do only faces I mean guest details. problem with motion, sharpness pictures was fucked off :)

  • @soundwise
    @soundwise 9 лет назад +1

    Sorry I just don't understand why you are doing everything the hard way? But if you are happy with your workflow then what can I say...BTW FCP X has the best Multicam of all NLEs.

    • @vladimirtalijan
      @vladimirtalijan 8 лет назад

      +Jari Innanen Exactly my thinking. FCPX Multicam is so good and fast it is ridiculous...

    • @NostalgicRoe
      @NostalgicRoe 8 лет назад

      I enjoy it, except I always have issues with audio editing in it. Any sort of effects to clean up audio leads to glitches in the edit. Kind of annoying to work around.

    • @bodasparatodalavida
      @bodasparatodalavida 8 лет назад

      I find the Multicam in FCPX to be incredibly buggy and slow. It's often quicker and more flexible doing it by eye.

    • @soundwise
      @soundwise 8 лет назад +1

      Something wrong with your workflow. Make sure all the angles (audio recorders and cameras) are named properly in the inspector and have their internal clocks set properly. Also make sure that the levels on cameras are on decent levels.

    If you do any grading, or deal with log, or cine, and don't want to apply a look on a shot-by-shot basis (aside from exposure fixes, skin tones .etc.) then this is where final cut really sucks. You can download an adjustment layer (like after effects or premiere has) and do it that way. But if you have different cameras (with different tonality), your screwed because fcp rearranges the clips on its godforsaken magnetic timeline. I'm sorry fcp, but I don't want you to move my clips onto different layers, that's what I'm for.

    • @WeddingFilmSchool
      @WeddingFilmSchool  9 лет назад

      +Alexander Fagard You just have to approach it differently. I can make an entire track a "story" and keep clips from the same camera together. I can easily apply color adjustments to any group of clips using "Shift + Command + v". And personally once you accept the magnetic timeline, it actually makes editing way faster. I don't have to move/shift clips around to eliminate gaps. I used to use FCP7 and remember what it was like.

    20 minutes? Too long and too boring. Half of that time enough ;)
