Wow. Singers forget regular lyrics but these guys sang an incredibly incoherent mixed version at the end with perfect accuracy. Respect for the comedic creativity, the great talent and HARDWORK to perform this!
Great comment! If you haven't had the chance, check out Storm Fronts' last song under the U tube video "2010 Storm Front". The Song "Jukebox Saturday Night" will blow you away with the qualities you mention above, comedic creativity, great talent and hardwork. It may be the finest example of their unique talent and work ethic.
All comedy schtick aside, the majority of points to win International come from the music. If SF wasn't technically excellent, the performance wouldn't have won anything even while wowing the audience. Doing credible comedy while maintaining tonal credibility and keeping it together is something extremely rare. Storm Front should be congratulated, not panned.
It was recently revealed in the Shop Chat interview with Storm Front, that their baritone, Darin Drown, was the arranger of this piece (along with Jukebox Saturday Night.) It was also revealed that the idea for this song came from their bass, Syd Libsack.
When they started, I knew they couldn't possibly do a conventional take on that great old classic. I was waiting for the other shoe to drop, and when it did, I wasn't disappointed. Great comedic premise--the lovely (and totally fictitious) Miss Quackenbush was too busy coaching Old School to show up for her part in the performance. Maybe eventually she'll appear on stage, but don't hold your breath. The slapstick jokes are funny and fresh. The finale with the mashup of the two songs is pure artistry, especially the two "dong ding"s. If you haven't watched this recently, you owe it to yourself to do so.
I have loved this song since I was a kid and watched and memorized the soundtrack of "The Music Man". This is a wonderful AND HILARIOUS rendition!!! Thanks, guys!!!
Anyone putting this down as not *real* barbershop has no idea what they are talking about. You can only do so much with your vocal talent, but there is absolutely no substitute for a PERFORMER who has showmanship. These guys are incredibly talented and it's not only very well sung but entertaining.
They performed at my school tonight, and I can't even describe how amazing these guys are in person! They're very nice as well, and they knew my father for his involvement in the barbershop world. I couldn't imagine meeting nicer guys.
I met bari and bass this weekend at the 2012 men's midwinter international youth convention Tucson Arizona. It was such a privilege!!!! I was so exited :p
Got to see Storm Front live last month in Colorado. I laughed myself sick. If you get a chance, see them live, you certainly won't regret it! They are amazing and unique!
From experience, barbershop music has proven to be the most difficult but best to listen kind of music. Storm Front is one group I have come to love so much. Energy, fun, progression, chords....just name them. They got it all. God bless you guys.
I watch this every day, also! Did you notice how the views jumped for this video for the week after the election? I guess Storm Front fans were trying to cope??
Good job. These guys are really good. I don't know if everyone realizes what talent it takes four people to sing in tune with each other with no instruments backing them up.
How they managed to mash up Lida Rose and Dream of Now so humorously and effectively, I'll never know. Wonderful stuff. I'm a choir member and I know. :O
An absolute laugh riot! Reminds me of some of the stuff FRED used to do. The bit with the music stand up and down, along with mixing the two parts, great stuff!
OMG this is just so amazing how they can be so technically accurate while just completely entertaining - wow! I know this is old, but this stuff just never gets old... um ...
OMG that was hilarious x10 !!! I'll probs watch this a hundred times and laugh just as hard the hundredth time as I did tonight! So many laughs, but the 3 stooges bit was so well done - not oversold at all!!! thanks!!! .. and now I've got the Dong Ding joke! More hilarity! :-)
this show is from a musical i was lucky enough to perform professionally, where a barbershop quartet starts singing, and the character "Marian" starts singing the other track. so the phone was supposed to be him txting her asking her if shes there or something, then calling her... but that is the fun to the end of it, theyre singing both tracks, musical arrangement and performance are both on par of genius
Sheer joy. Thankyou so much. I know you must work and work and work to make it seem that effortless - but I also hope that in the end it's even half as much fun for you as you make it look. You deserve it for all the joy you're putting out there into the world.
I LOVE Comedy quartets and have been blessed to have had a chance to woodshed with some truly great ones, but Storm Front epitomizes the term Champion (comedy or otherwise) Hey! I live in Denver now! I might have to see if they're up for a little "Coney Island Baby!
With all due respect to fellow posters, these characters have some serious skills. You are damn lucky if you are in a position to get training from any of them.
Having actually getting the opportunity to work and sing with a couple of this quartet’s members, as well as here this quartet perform live, I can say that they are certainly a one of a kind quartet!!😂😂
I'm a 40-something year old punk/goth/ hippie/metal head (Gemini, obviously)... but raised on classic music and comedy/film. These guys are killing me! Do they cover any Pirates of Penzance?
No, no, no, you've got it all wrong. It's so easy now, and BETTER, because you can just sing the song once, artificially double-track it, and auto tune it to the harmony! No need for skill or character anymore!
They sang the song live, without musical recording. I've been to many recording sessions and am very familiar with stacked tracks. You either have no idea of what you were watching or have never been involved ib professional gospel quartet or barbershop quartet singing.
Chris Griffith Yes, yes. And you really need to hear them live to absolutely love it! I tried barbershop ( it's hard ) and also got to meet these guys. Incredible!
No, 4-part harmony just went out of style, much to our dismay. *Please* don't be one of those jack-offs going off about how "today's kids don't know real hard work." There are plenty of hard working modern musicians out there. 4-part harmony just isn't in style anymore.
Anyone putting this down as not *real* barbershop has no idea what they are talking about. You can only do so much with your vocal talent, but there is absolutely no substitute for a PERFORMER who has showmanship. These guys are incredibly talented and it's not only very well sung but entertaining.
But please Barbershop fans, do not forget the 1950 International Quartet Champions - The Buffalo Bills. They were the first to sing this in the original 1957 Broadway stage version of The Music Man and then again in the 1962 movie. Their chords just ring!
It IS REAL BARBERSHOP!! My Dad (May he rest in peace) sang barbershop for 38 years!! He loved every minute of it!! I’m so proud of the man my Dad was and I miss him so much!! R.I.P. Daddy!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hey look, it's a magical music stand from Denver.
A music stand that's MAGICAL from Denver!
@@duskmallow and I feel like Vocal Spectrum sent bananas that someone already used...
Speaking of roses, did those guys from Indiana send them yet?
What about 2 tap shoes and a straw hat for someone's head?
Hey look, it's an unfunny dork on RUclips.
Wow. Singers forget regular lyrics but these guys sang an incredibly incoherent mixed version at the end with perfect accuracy. Respect for the comedic creativity, the great talent and HARDWORK to perform this!

@@reginadinan9486 Thank you!
This played out like a cartoon, those guys have talent.
Ps: the amount of genius required to arrange the end is astounding
What a show! They are a great act!
Fun twist on a classic!
Expensive too…

God bless you.
I have never understood why this style wasn't more popular. Honestly, I enjoy barbershop over all other bands!!!
In as much as different people's taste differ, but for the love of music, acappella or barbershop music should be a stop-and-listen thing.
it really ticks me off how a lot of people can't just appreciate a good barbershop quartet. Storm Front is obviously a great group
The are practically the best
After all these years, it would be nice to finally see “Lida Rose” sing with the group…
She actually did in another performance
Incredible! Perfect harmony, and incredible "Three Stooges" level comedy. Well done, and it took an incredible performance to beat Old School.
It was recently revealed in the Shop Chat interview with Storm Front, that their baritone, Darin Drown, was the arranger of this piece (along with Jukebox Saturday Night.) It was also revealed that the idea for this song came from their bass, Syd Libsack.
Not much on the internet has ever made me laugh as hard as i did just now.

THE DUDE ON THE FAR LEFT IS MY CHOIR TEACHER MR. DROWN
Darren Drown, he used to be my Dad's chorus director
I loved to watch him. He looks so genuinely happy to be on stage.

It's almost a decade old, and still great to see and hear!
A rare combination of original good comedy and very good singing.
I couldn't agree more. I believe Storm Front to be special and unique.
I have loved this song since I was a kid and watched and memorized the soundtrack of "The Music Man". This is a wonderful AND HILARIOUS rendition!!! Thanks, guys!!!
They have every detail pinned down, even the green socks! These guys are pros.
Nothing makes me laugh and cry more than 4 part harmony. Thank you Storm Front

God that was hilarious... Never thought I could marvel at incredible singing and laugh hysterically at the same time.
They performed at my school tonight, and I can't even describe how amazing these guys are in person! They're very nice as well, and they knew my father for his involvement in the barbershop world. I couldn't imagine meeting nicer guys.
Absolute pleasure listening to this with headphones. That one chord at 1:15 blew me away.
The whole character of these guys is what makes it different from any other music form. I applaud there use of humor.
I met bari and bass this weekend at the 2012 men's midwinter international youth convention Tucson Arizona. It was such a privilege!!!! I was so exited :p
These guys came to Brisbane today at my high school (St.Laurences) and they sounded superb and perfect, and they are hilarious!
Got to see Storm Front live last month in Colorado. I laughed myself sick. If you get a chance, see them live, you certainly won't regret it! They are amazing and unique!
true champions. classic. It just doesn't get any better. That bass !!!!!!!!!!!!!
This stands the test of time. It gets better and better!!

The great singing with the comedy is incredible!!
Great number. A Well done performance.
Good job. These guys are really good. I don't know if everyone realizes what talent it takes four people to sing in tune with each other with no instruments backing them up.
They executed this song with such amazing skill! I could watch this over and over and over again (and have!). LOVE it.
Very good! A light-hearted tour-de-force of barbershop quartet singing.
What a hoot!
And so well done!
"Hello!"
cracked me up so much! These guys rock.
@5:52 Victor Borge would be SO proud!
This is one of the best things ever.
I agree! This video seems to be timeless. Long live Storm Front!
great great sound clarity in my ATMOS HT- bravo!
Saw these guys live in Durango. They were both great vocally and comedically.
They put on an amazing show. IT will keep you rolling in the isles for a full thirty minutes.
Very entertaining. Just when I thought all that could have possibly done with this old chestnut had been done, they really amped it up! Bravi!
How they managed to mash up Lida Rose and Dream of Now so humorously and effectively, I'll never know. Wonderful stuff. I'm a choir member and I know. :O
This was hilarious! Talent was beyond words. What a great presentation!!!!
Funny!!! Great sound too - actually mixed the two songs together well!

Deep dark secret, LOL I love barbershop quartets!
Awesome singing and laugh-out-loud comedy! What fun!

Beautiful! I LOVE Barbershop harmony!
I've been following these guys for a few years now and I'm REALLY HAPPY to see they won!
That is very funny and also a piece of musical genius! Brilliant
You've GOT to be kidding me. Old School was laughing right along with the audience. Stop WANTING to be offended and enjoy the show.
Plus Old School joined them as champions the next year, which is the last laugh.

Am I the only one who thinks their lead looks like Vizzini from The Princess Bride?

Inconceivable! LOL He really does
The baritone looks like Boris Karloff.
Tim Conway................
Like a cross of the best comedic aspects of Vizzini and Tim Conway (R.I.P.).
Excellent harmony! Something missing in popular music today. Mostly because it requires too much work.
