Always a pleasure listening to you review camera's and analog too , you do a great job and yes ... I am a film shooter , and digital.. 2 Rollei's , love them as indeed they slow you down , and when in Vietnam in 2017 , people loved my twin lens reflex camera , they even in USA come over to look at it , and yes you can get lovely portraits.

lovely photo, I played around with TLR and a large format back at college, really slowed you down and make you think about the image that would be captured.

Yes, it's so true about slowing down the process. You can't shoot 40 frames per second and with the Rolleiflex, only have 12 photos before having to change the film and that really makes the experience very different and more purposeful than modern digital camera. I've never tried large format but I have seens some large format street photographers on RUclips and have huge admiration for those guys, carrying around a massive, heavy camera on a stand for hours. Thanks for commenting, much appreciated!

Liked and subbed lovely shot. I was searching TLRs, as I have an Airesflex model U I believe, I've had it a couple of years and finally making time to slip a roll through it, as soon as I do I post the experience on y channel, not a lot of content on YT featuring the Airesflex. Regards Paul

@@StreetPhotographyChinaAhhh thanks really appreciate the support. I'm clearly no expert of YTs algorithm but mark my words your channel will go off like a deranged frog in a sock, great content and delivery. Cheers Paul

Hi, do you apply zone focusing when shooting with TLR on street photography? Your photos seems tact sharp. Thanks for sharing!

I usually ask the subject for a photo so I have time to pose and focus. On the odd occasion I take the photo candidly, I usually use a small aperture (say f11 or f16) and I ESTIMATE the distance to the subject (which is in feet on the TLRs) and try to learn roughly what the distance is. For example, to get a head to toe full body in the frame, the subject is usually around 12 feet away.

Mine is awesome, except for the fungus and lagging shutter speeds

How is your hit rate for photos taken on a TLR compared to those taken on your Q2? I suspect the hit rate on the TLR should be considerably higher.

    • @StreetPhotographyChina

Actually there is a high miss rate on the TLR due to not being in focus. Sometimes it's a run to click the shutter even if not yet in focus to capture that moment and sometimes you don't have time for a proper light meter reading so that also lowers the hit rate. Of course, for stationary objects where you can take your time, the hit rate would be better.
