What a wonderful video. The narrative was professionally executed. I live in scotland meaning it is very difficult to personally attend to see these historical places. I love anything history related and found this video fasinating and truely informative. Thank you.
A real treasure. In my view the best attraction in London. The best way to get there is to take the boat from Westminster and enjoy the sights along the river. Then take the train back to London. The station is right near the palace.
Got yourself a new proud sub. Right up my alley.thank you so much and I look forward to binging on what you have and what you have coming in the future. Great job
At the beginning you mention the animals at the entrance and begin with the crowned lion. It was like the opening of a big Hollywood film the way you focus upward with the palace looming behind. I thought, "this is going to be something" and, of course, it was. Another wonderful tour, Margaret. And another "medieval" fire extinguisher. I burst out laughing again. Your humour shines through. The amount of information that you share with such ease is as enticing as when I read biographies of this era by Alison Weir and others. That unknown man in red is intriguing. Very dramatic portrait. Another successful tour. This is why i subscribed after seeing the first video. See you on the next go-round. Cheers. 🥂🎉
Ah! Your kind words and lovely compliments have made my day again, R.J. A comparison to Alison Weir is absolutely amazing! I am so glad you liked this one, too. The queen and her children did not have the typical mother child relationship. His mother had an affair and that was equal to treason. Her son would not have called her MOM. And would have stood by his father's decision.
As an ex pat I left the U k at a fairly young age Always interested in history I did manage to visit some but no where near that I would have wished This is one of the most informative and well presented ( well done Margaret) I have seen The paintings were beautiful and information given. How Hampton court must have been a bustling, noisy busy place especially the kitchens What wonderful craftsmanship back then for us to marvel at hundreds of years later
I am so glad you enjoyed the video, David! I wish I could visit the Palace for a few minutes of history just to see what it would've been like. And so true about the craftsmanship, hopefully not a completely dying art xx
Hever Castle! I grew up near there. Not visited since the 1970s. Would love to see it again as I no longer live there. Bodiam Castle was a regular visit as it's in ruins and cheap.

Wonderfully informative and makes me want to learn more! Regarding the painting of the man in red at 36 minutes-ish, I think he bears some resemblance to other paintings of Edward VI. He died at 15 in 1553, so perhaps painted when he was a child, and some licence was taken by the artist, imagining him as older? Of course if it was painted in the early 1530s this couldnt apply.
I loved this video. Thank you for making it. I got to go to England in 1986 and was never able to get back. It was the greatest adventure of my life. I love learning about England.

Thank you for this, although I visited Hampton Court with my school sixty years ago it's never to late for a refresher. The town where I was born and lived for many years also has a Palace with moat, it is called Eltham Palace and is I believe almost six hundred years old. It was mainly used as a hunting lodge for the Tudor Kings and Queens of England, it always makes me smile when I walk past this Palace, it sits between the most expensive road for property in the area and a large council estate. Thanks again for this informative and very enjoyable video.

Aw, thank you so much, Sandy! I'm glad you liked it :)
Really enjoyed the tour of this castle and gardens. So beautiful! 😊😊😊
Glad you liked it, Pamela! It is just so gorgeous.
What a wonderful video. The narrative was professionally executed. I live in scotland meaning it is very difficult to personally attend to see these historical places. I love anything history related and found this video fasinating and truely informative. Thank you.
So glad I could take you there virtually, Robert! x
A real treasure. In my view the best attraction in London. The best way to get there is to take the boat from Westminster and enjoy the sights along the river. Then take the train back to London. The station is right near the palace.
Thank you so much. Although I’ve visited the Palace a few years ago your tour was excellent and I learned so much.
Thank you for your kind words, Margaret!
Pleased you enjoyed this one, Margaret!
Thank you Margaret, what a beautiful and insightful tour.
My pleasure!
Glad you enjoyed it! In case you haven't seen it, Margaret also made a video of the Tower of London: ruclips.net/video/JbK3-hEP0DA/видео.html
I have one I am editing right now but I promise on my next excursion I'll keep an eye out for more historical fire extinguishers ;) Looking forward to see which one you watch next! xx
Thank you. I enjoy your tours. I had a whirlwind tour back in 1980 and only remember bits and pieces, but your commentary refreshes everything.
So glad to bring you back there virtually, Susan! :)

I would definitely be interested in the wives of Henry VIII. I really appreciate the detail of this tour. I also like how soothing Margaret's voice is because it helped me to relax just before going to bed.
Thank you so much, Christina! I'll be at Hever Castle soon so more Henry and Anne Boleyn on the way :)

This was so enjoyable and informative, I loved it. I’d probably listen to Margaret read the telephone directory, what a lovely voice.

The queen and her children did not have the typical mother child relationship. His mother had an affair and that was equal to treason. Her son would not have called her MOM. And would have stood by his father's decision.
As an ex pat I left the U k at a fairly young age
Always interested in history I did manage to visit some but no where near that I would have wished
This is one of the most informative and well presented ( well done Margaret) I have seen
The paintings were beautiful and information given.
How Hampton court must have been a bustling, noisy busy place especially the kitchens
What wonderful craftsmanship back then for us to marvel at hundreds of years later
Thanks for watching, David! You may also enjoy Margaret’s tours of other royal palaces: ruclips.net/p/PLo-M-WVj_1AgnS93gTRHiJWxsgLzCt4CT
I am so glad you enjoyed the video, David! I wish I could visit the Palace for a few minutes of history just to see what it would've been like. And so true about the craftsmanship, hopefully not a completely dying art xx
Congratulations Margaret. Excellently presented , narration and video. Thank you. Can you cover Anne Boylen’s family home?
Great suggestion, Colleen. It's currently closed but should open next month. It's on our list.
Thank you! And YES! As soon as it reopens, I will be there :)
Hever Castle! I grew up near there. Not visited since the 1970s. Would love to see it again as I no longer live there. Bodiam Castle was a regular visit as it's in ruins and cheap.

Thank you for making this very well presented video series. There are many people who are unable to visit these Royal residences, who can now enjoy learning about them and the Royals and architects who made them. These buildings and gardens are so huge, my mobility scooter batteries would have failed a long way back.
You are most welcome, Clare! I am so glad I can share them with every one :) And the scooter battery made me laugh (my dad's ran out while we were in an elevator once..!).

The palace was used in the vanity fair movie with reese Witherspoon. I happened to visit a few days before filming & they had signs up saying as much. It's part of reason I wanted to watch it. It's a good film & can clearly tell scenes were filmed at the palace.
Oooh interesting. I've not seen that film yet but now I want to! Thanks for the info :)

Oh, that's an interesting thought, Jen! I like it.
I thought it was similar to Edward also.

Glad that you enjoyed the video, Terry. I think Eltham Palace is on our list of possibile future videos.
